    I have this laptop for 2 years now and its awesome. It has 16GB of RAM, i7 3610qm CPU, 1600x900 display and 500GB SSD from Samsung. Its really good for general use and its pretty fast. Mine is also in really good condition and it looks almost brand new and top of that has really good battery too. Really happy with, so much that I wouldnt change it for anything!

      i upgraded my display to 1920x1080, but had to disassemble the whole thing to replace the display cable...
      But its a beast now.

    During Thesis/capstone my Acer aspire laptop died luckily i still have this HP 8470p to use as alternative. I purchased it last 2020 with 120GB SSD and 6GB Ram,,,, it's all but durable and i can do programming with no problem.

    The ssd helps a lot but where you gain the most performance is in the ram. This is a perfect example for the everyday pc user of how ram matters and that most the time small upgrades like this one can extend the life and usage of your computer. It’s significantly less money to go this route rather than buying a whole new system.

      @TheWongReviewer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right! I believe the Ram is the number one driver for the speed improvement! It's crazy how that laptop shipped with 4GB of ram initially.

    • @RYNOTECH
      @RYNOTECH 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheWongReviewer all the lower end tier laptops only come with 4 gigs of ram. I run into that all the time at work. I don’t understand how they expect the thing to run. 8 gigs min has always been my suggestion. By the time you open a browser and a couple software programs to do any kind of work the thing is crawling.

    fun thing with this one. it looks like the cpu is also replaceable as its not fully soldered onto the board.

    Purchased this one on 15th of feb, 2023 (used).
    Price: 102.78 USD.
    I've some questions:
    1. Can I use 2 ssd's and not any harddisk? One in cd drive, and one in hard drive slot?
    2. Which ssd's are usable in this laptop in the dvd drive? Any particular suggestions from you 128/256gb? Brand names?
    3. Should I upgrade its ram? If I do, does that mean I have to throw away the two 2gb rams and install new 4gb+4gb rams?
    4. isn't there any way that I can make this two 2gb rams into one 4gb ram and use it in one slot and just purchase one another 4gb ram and use that in the second slot? Total 8gb?

    • @TheWongReviewer
      @TheWongReviewer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Thanks for the comment:
      1) Yes, you can definitely use two SSDs, just make sure they have SATA connectors. You can't use NVME Drives.
      2) Any SSD brand name works. I personally use the Western Digital SSDs. I would go up to 512 if you have it in your budget
      3) Yes, absolutely you should upgrade the RAM. I would prioritize this over the SSDs
      4) Unfortunately, no. you have to buy new RAM kits.

      Hey AJ! Thanks for commenting I hope to do more IT / Computer related stuff related on the channel. The total cost to replace the ram and hard drive was $140 Canadian. So not too bad.
