CalFire DOZER Responding Code-3 to a Wildfire with CalFire, AMR, and SCFD!

CalFire received 911 reports of a Wildland Fire/Structure Fire at Last Chance Road and Swanton Road in Davenport, California. A full response was dispatched. Units arriving on scene were unable to locate a Wildland Fire.

Having worked heavy equipment and hauled them to I know from experience that they won't just put some throttle jockey behind the wheel of that transport. He knows far more than you unless you've driven a transport to begin with . Having said that I'll back his driving any day in an emergency. It's his job day in and day out. He knows far more with his training and experience than you could ever FATHOM

CAPTAIN WELLS PILOT AND FIREFIGHTER, You're wrong. He was following a truck. He didn't "have an escort." As that would mean multiple police units BLOCKING intersections. There were no police units blocking intersections. So there was no escort! That idiot was driving with a complete dis-regard for the safety of others on the roadway. It's a miracle that he didn't kill someone with the way he was driving. I'm going to send this video to the Fire Chief at CalFire. As he obviously needs to be aware of the reckless manner this person was driving this truck!
This is an awesome video, dozers are my favorite rigs on fires. I thought that prevention truck was a dozer tender at first because of the toolboxes, I hadn’t seen one that wasn’t a dually. It looked like he was cutting a path for the transport, pretty badass to watch!

No need to stop at a light, running lights & sirens makes you exempt.....The Black car in the video was showing his IGNORANCE by Not yielding and getting out of the way...Should have been written up.
dactgsr1 I don't know where or who you learned that from but that isn't correct. He is exempt for having to sit at red lights if he is running code 3 but if he doesn't make sure that it's safe to proceed through the red light like this video show's and causes a accident he is completely at fault for the accident even though he is running code 3. If he has a code 3 escort and the front truck doesn't get into the middle of the the intersection to make sure that all vehicles are stop in all directions to be able to safely proceed without stopping is perfectly fine. Every emergency response vehicle has to make sure that the intersection is safe to proceed further before doing so. If any emergency vehicle blows through a red light before making sure that it is safe to proceed it's 100% at fault. Trust me anytime I can do something to help them get to any call faster I do it Everytime. If I'm sitting at a red light and I hear or see them coming I will get my truck into the middle of intersection to get everyone stopped so they can get to the call faster because every single second could be the difference between life or death.
Why are more people not like you? You actually care about people who put their lives on the lines for us everyday. While most people only care about famous people and texting.
What kind of trucks were hauling those dozers? Just run of the mill international DTs? They had those things humming!

No plow? Over in NC all ours have large hydraulic plows on the back to dig a fire line. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have the same conditions as Cali. But I guess there’s a lotta ways to skin a cat.
I found that kind of odd too, most of the fire dozers I've seen had rear plows. Maybe only some of them are configured like that? 🤷

cartman4885 that is what I said to him a couple of weeks ago and I have worked quite few wildfires over the last 8 year's. The only dozer's I see at the wildfires are the big private companies that are contracted with the government to work wildfires and those semi are outfitted with code 3 lights and sirens but hardly ever run code

Oklahoma Emergency yes that is my point exactly. I don't know if anyone has driven a semi truck but it's hard enough to drive and stop in normal speed and traffic without running code 3 and speeding on city streets with all that weight
I used to volunteer under CalFire - Yes, during a high dispatch or fire danger, bulldozers are automatically dispatched to vegetation fires.

That means that they may violate traffic laws only when it is reasonably safe to do so, and can and will be held criminally negligent for driving in a reckless manner, such as the idiot driving the truck in this video!

Wrong. I'm retired Cal Fire and the unit at 1:08 was a Cal Fire "Prevention Officer" "IE: A "Fire Investigator" and a California State Peace Officer with full powers of arrest, even more so than a city cop. He's a Firefighter cop. They can and do make traffic stops on people that fail to yield.
