    I was a small 8 year old base BRAT who had a chance to ride in an Oshkosh P-15 8x8 crash tender. This beast had two 500 HP engines. Maybe not the largest fire engine ever made but definitely the heaviest. Nothing brings a smile to my face than the site of a massive 8x8 crash tender. If I had a million dollars burning in my pocket I would love to restore and drive an old Oshkosh P-15. It would be great at hot rod gatherings, antique fire engine meets and beach parties.

    Respect, those countries that give themselves the means to buy emergency equipment, and in this way, don't reason as an economist, but as a human being.
    In France, doctors, paramedics and hospitals have to cry for a living to get the equipment they need to treat people and buy emergency vehicles, it's shameful.
    FRANCE doesn't have any money, but it's given several million euros to footballers.

    Wow. Can someone describe the trucks? Why do they look so tactical. Is it not a regular fire truck?

    • @SimplyCali619
      @SimplyCali619 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's meant to fight intense jet fuel fire without exposing firefighters to the flames. And it has to be able to go off-road in case the plane crashes off the runway where it can get muddy. Some are also equipped with harpoon piercer to make a hole in the jet/plane fuselage and put water/foam into the cabin directly. They are usually called AIRPORT CRASH TENDERS

    • @devgru8197
      @devgru8197 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are airport fire trucks, aka ARFF trucks (Airport Rescue Fire-Fighting). They are built specifically for fighting aircraft fires. All major airports have them. There is a standard by the FAA to have so many depending on size of airport, and so on.

    • @KaiserStormTracking
      @KaiserStormTracking 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ARFFT's are made bulky to carry foam t fight jet fuel fires
      Some airports keep regular engines as well for fires at terminals

    must be the most boring fire department to be on. How many times do you think a plane catches on fire

    • @KaiserStormTracking
      @KaiserStormTracking 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are on call more then you think.
      The busiest american airports have some of the largest staffed airport fire crews

    • @kylevanheerden8784
      @kylevanheerden8784 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just sitting and waiting around for a plane fire is not what happens, well atleast my my station anyway. There are so many other calls that aviation related calls make up such a small percentage. Medicals,road crash,Hazmat,structure fire,bush fires etc. the list goes on. But if people dont any any better, its easy to assume.
