What do you expect from California? Rules for thee, not for me!! They know emissions controls on diesels are unreliable but force the strictest emissions standards on "WE THE PEOPLE". Biggest scam. You can delete your 🍆 but not a diesel.
Idiot, you don’t know what your talking about. You don’t understand the story seen by your comment, just saying without thinking moron. M.H. Wouldn’t be proud of it being smaller and lighter, than the lack of power and not capable for urban surroundings. You don’t have no idea what it would take to do it, you have no idea what it would take: the drive, the balls, the knowledge to put it together or the intelligence to either come with such a plan. Your just a stupid kid that sa a video or a clip (tik or insta) saw the chaos or destruction and chuckled (in a lame way) and thought uh cool, “I like dozers” 🐢 Have some respect and at least try to understand the story instead of posting 💩, not fully developed or brainless 💩.
They have specialized technicians and facilities just to work on the huge trailers that haul these overweight things through the city streets and mountain roads of LA county.
“It weighs more than a tank” is incorrect a D8 R fire dozer weighs approximately 90,000 pounds while an M1 A2 sep V3 Abrams is significantly over 140,000 pounds. and even the lightest modern day MBT’s are still over 100,000 pounds.
Yes, spotter, navigator or helper. During crisis I believe two trained men in the cab would be better off fire fighting and communicating with air support and so forth.
The second seat is for the swamper. The swamper can ride in real hazard conditions. But can walk near the "Tractor", which they are called, to be eyes on the ground. Looking for obstacles & holes, covered by underbrush, that could cause the tractor to roll over.
I think is BS that they don’t have emissions equipment on their stuff but the rest of the state and US is forced to have it on their own cars/trucks. They should have to deal with the same headaches that are associated with that stuff as the rest of the state and US.
The second seat operator runs all the radios in the dozer so the dozers first operator can drive the dozer and the scene seat operator is the look out guy
Fire dozer?? Really, manually operated angle blade, should be hydraulic, no rippers, that winch should be mounted on top of the rippers. The whole top of the front section of the ROPS should be covered with heavy plate steel, to help protect from falling debris. Catching chains should be fitted from the front of the dozer to the top of the blade to stop debris falling in behind the blade, (yes it happens) BUT mainly the biggest issue is that high track Cat dozers are useless in backing up steep country
California & the US Forest Service have tens of thousands of acres designated as NO Mechanical zones for firefighting. No, chainsaws, engine companies, portable pumps or dozers are allowed to operate in those areas. Now you know why we firefighters have a very difficult time getting large fires under control in California. The politicians throw up roadblocks.
These are cool and informative. Please create more of these. Please do some of the aircraft and Sheriff’s vehicle (SWAT, rescue trucks or Bomb Squad)

He did not just call that a scoop 😂
I would be willing to bet that he doesn’t own a pocket knife, lol.
That dozer isn’t CARB compliant
Best comment on here 👆 😂

Rules for thee not for me !!! Sure signs of an out of control communist regime
book'em danno!!!
Nome of them are. Always say they don’t want emissions to shut them down
Marvin would be proud of a dozer like that. If you know you know!

Show us the maintenance department and mechanics that work on these too. :)

I'm assuming the second seat is for a navigator, comms?

The "guest".
I saw these in action recently on Magic Mountain Truck Trail.
Hey Ryan you should go check out los angeles city fire departments LAFD electric fire engine number 82
This is a County of Los Angeles channel.

Theyre just using a loophole in the regulations I don't know why no other agency uses it
Engine manufactures should make government follow same emission rules as citizens.
They’re fuckin fire dozers. Dont be pussies
@@matta3888 All of ours do.
I wish we could remove it from our dozers. Sucks to be on the head of a fire and the dozer goes into limp mode because of the emission system.
That smoke isn’t California compliant.
What's the purpose of the second seat on the dozer
Pretty much if ones been running it half the day the other can switch its kinda like a co pilot to
To take the sexy girls for a ride
The second seat operator runs all the radios in the dozer so the dozers first operator can drive the dozer and the scene seat operator is the look out guy
That seat is for his assistant, which is a swamper, or fire suppression aid.@@crftrapper280

"Meet the Fleet" but there is only one episode. LOL
Ever heard of a new channel? There are now four episodes. What a ridiculous comment.
Salute to Fred Boehm and Jack Hayes
Thank you for diesel engines
Ah… did I see black smoke roll out of that CAT? Can’t have that in cali! That dozer should be electric and charged by solar! Blasphemy!
Stupid California only applies those rules to citizens
Hope they scratched the paint after this video
Still dont understand why you need your EMT to be a dozer operator for these guys.
You can't imagine the idea of having an EMT on the fire line?
So with California going all EV why not this? Seems like a disaster to the environment
😅😅😅

Ill pass Los....
Gavin Newson is going to take it away and replace it with a battery powered weed eater

dude talking is a bot
Where’s the batteries? What a fuel fed engine! 😂
