    I just bought Gel Trabuco 9 and I just love the way they feel. They feel custom made for my feet. I hope they are durable and if they still feel great after some runs I want to buy the gtx also. I have overpronation and my knees will punish me if I am not very careful and picky with my running shoes.

    Another great review! Wanna know, what I think is the greatest? You pay a lot of attention to the running experience in every model, specifically positive things and elaborating negative things and issues, which helps to inform whether it's relevant for each one of us, viewers. Keep it up, looking for more shoe reviews to come! Cheers from snow covered Prague!

      Cheers Vlad that's really appreciated! I'm so glad you find the reviews helpful. I know running shoes are super personal but we try and give as much information as we can in our reviews to help our viewers. I think there's a lot of very vague reviews on TH-cam that don't really tell you a lot about the shoes or their performance. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

    Many years ago Asics made a brilliant trail shoe, the Trail Attack. The early versions were grippy and aggressive, and made you want to run fast on technical trails. Unfortunately, each year's new model got heavier and clunkier, totally losing its soul. Great review! This looks like a pretty solid shoe. Maybe Asics is getting their trail mojo back.

    Hi There, Great video and thanks for the honest in-depth review.
    Always loved Asics shoes and interested in the Trabuco 9's (see Asics have just released the 10s) or the Trabuco Terra's. What's the difference between the two - 9's vs Terra's? Is it to do with the neutral pronation vs over-pronation? Could you wear the Trabuco's 9's even if you don't over-pronate on your runs?

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Cameron, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I haven't run in the Terra's before so it's hard to say what the differences are. You could definitely run in the Trabuco 9. Hi Loyd. Its pretty easy to solve one of your cons with this shoe, the loose heal. I've noticed in your videos, that you never use the extra holes in the lacing system for that good heal lock. Its very simple and normally very effective. I have a very narrow heal and this trick with the heal lock always works. It gives an excellent hold on your heal.

    Hi Lloyd. Loving the reviews! Any chance we could get a review of the Asics Fuji Lite 2? It looks like Asics have really bumped up their game this year. Hi Loyd, great review as always. Maybe something to consider for future reviews is how 'green' the shoe is? Does it use recycled materials? Is the packaging stripped back / can it be recycled? Are the materials / glues vegan friendly? What's the manufactures approach to being a 'green' company? I think increasingly runners are taking these type of things into consideration when making shoe purchases.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A really good point Ashling 👍
      This is definitely something runners and brands are thinking more about, which is a great thing! I'll be reviewing the Index 01 from Salomon soon hopefully, which is a really exciting running shoe being fully recyclable. Once the shoe has done its mileage you send it back to Salomon and it gets recycled into Salomon ski boots 👍

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The GT 2000 trail is pretty much a road shoe with a slightly different outsole. It really doesn't look like it's got much grip! The Trabuco would definitely be the better option, especially if you are going to use it for cross country 👍

    Great video. I have been running for years in the woods using my normal road shoes, including in wet and sometimes snowy conditions. After a terrible winter I am finally considering getting waterproof trail shoes. My go to brand is Asics and I found your review very helpful.
    Do you know how this shoe compares to the Gel Fujitrabuco? The Fuji seems to have much deeper lugs. I am wondering how the Fujitrabuco performance and comfort compares to the Gel Trabuco. Would be a great follow up video, or if you're aware of a good comparison video please let me know.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure the Fuji was a more stripped back shoe, less depth of cushioning and a deeper, more aggressive lug. I'd say the Gel trabuco is a better allrounder than the Fuji, not as aggressive in the outsole and softer underfoot 👍

    HI Lloyd, great review. I have a couple questions. How would you say the narrow fit of the Trabuco-9 compares to Kayano 26? My Kayanos leave quite a bit of room for comfort in the toebox and are a perfect fit elsewhere. And how would you rate the aggression of the outsole for obstacle course running, in varying terrains (sand, mud, clay, gravel), that requires extremely hard stops and stops? I wear Inov8 mudclaws for that, but their fit is extremely narrow for my comfort and need to change them out. I don't have a retailer near me that has Trabuco's for me to physically inspect, so looking for as much help as possible. I am considering Salomon Speedcross's as a replacement to my Inov8's, however, I'm very particular to the Asics brand line. With that being said, is the grip of the outsole enough to compare to the Speedcross's. Thanks a bunch, and love the video reviews. ~Jeff

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jeff
      I'd say if the kayano fits you well the GEL-TRABUCO should be fine 👍
      The grip is really good on the GEL-TRABUCO but its not got the depth of a mudclaw, that's a very different shoe. The mudclaw is a soft ground trail shoe, specifically designed to run in boggy, muddy conditions. Where as the GEL-TRABUCO is more of an allrounder. If you do go for a Salomon shoe I'd avoid the Speedcross. After running in a mudclaw the Speedcross would feel pretty bulky and high on the heel off set, maybe have a look at the Salomon Wildcross. The Wildcross is a much better shoe, it has the same outsole as the Speedcross but it's a lot more responsive. There's a review of the Wildcross on the channel if that helps 👍
      Thanks for watching and I hope you find a shoe 🙏

    I have the Gel Trabuco 9 GTX which I presume is the same shape and I would not describe the toe box as narrow at all. I run in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 2E width on the road for my wide feet, and they have a very similar fit for me.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried the GTX shoe but I should imagine they are the same shoe just with a waterproof membrane. Or maybe Asics have made it wider to take the membrane. I've worked in the running shoe industry for a lot of years now and over those years if ordered in and fitted a lot of runners in Brooks Adrenaline GTS (wide 2E) shoes and I can definitely say my pair of GEL-TRABUCO 9's are way narrower than a width fit in a Brooks GTS! I've got a narrow foot shape and there would be no way I could run in a 2E Brooks shoe especially a GTS that's pretty wide on a standard fit 👍

      The Gel Venture is way less developed Lionel. It's just an entry level trainer, what they call a "mock up" it looks very similar but it hasn't had the level of testing or development that the Gel Trabuco has had, hence the big price difference 👍

    Nice review there Loyd. Your shoe reviews are very good and informative but I take all reviews with a very large pinch of salt as they’re so so subjective. I used to use this shoe a lot for trails up to about 2013-4 but then it became the Fuji Gel Trabuco rather than just the Asics Trabuco and it changed for the worst.
    Can I also just mention that your high opinion about the Arc is obviously because you’re based down there in Cornwall but I would have to say that the event for the cost is way way too high considering its mostly an event that needs self support. Ive done cheaper events that are more scenic, well supported and amazing in every other way for half the cost of entry.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Phil, I'm glad you're enjoying our reviews 👍
      We put a lot of time and effort into them and try to make them as informative as possible. I totally agree, of course you have to take shoe reviews with a pinch of salt as it just my opinion on a shoe 👍 Everyone's foot shape is different, every shoe shapes up differently and everyone runs differently. So what suits me won't suit everyone but hopefully it gives viewers a bit of information about the products on the market that maybe they weren't aware of 👍
      As far as my opinion of the AoA that's just my opinion of the race. I'm not saying eryone has to love the race like me. Of course I have a high opinion of the race because the route is on my training ground, how often do you get to run 100 miles on a route you know so well!? 😊
      I was wondering, have you run the Arc before?
      The route is absolutely stunning and challenging, especially with the race being in winter. Again I'm not saying it's the most stunning route of any race and I obviously know there's some other just as amazing races out there! 👍
      When you mention support, yes the check points are spread out but when you get to them the support is amazing from the Arc angels. I'm sure last year there was just over 200 runners and 165 Arc Angels helping out the runners, I think that quite a bit of support! 😊
      Also there's a lot of mobile support crews out on the route to look after any runners that need help in between the check points. I agree it's not the cheapest race out there but it's obviously got something about it because there's runners tripping over themselves to enter it every year. Having run it 4 times I still think it's an awesome event and I will continue to look forward to the Arc weekend every year. Maybe if you haven't run it before you should give it a go one year but that's just my opinion 😊
      Thanks for watching the channel and taking the time to comment it's really appreciated 🙏

      @@Run4Adventure Cheers Loyd. Love your reviews and info on all things running ;-) Yes I have tried my luck with the Arc a couple of times and its one beast thats for sure :-). For someone who has normally not too many issues with the 100 mile distance this one event has given me all sorts of problems. Its just my opinion I know but I think they're too tight on their cut offs and as its not easy for me to get down to Cornwall and train on the paths its a race that I think suits locals or people that can get down there to train better so not sure if I'll ever give it another go, but you never know 😉The first time i tried, I tried with no support and as I was chasing the cut offs by the time I got to the very distanced checkpoints there was nothing left, food wise. The second attempt I did have a support guy but he missed a coupe of the places he was supposed to meet so I ended up having much the same issue. Didn't see or get much support from anyone else along the way so not sure what experiences you've had in the past but they weren't mine. Keep the good work going on your channel though, its one of the best. I'll be sure to say hi if I ever make it back down for the Arc 👍
