  • Thomas and Robbe review the Asics Trabuco Max 2, a max cushion trail shoe (for real, it's 43 mm of Flytefoam Blast+) that can handle pretty much any distance. And the outsole grip is solid as well. Needless to say, we were pretty surprised at the results, as was the rest of our trail team. Available now for $150.

    Tried this on in store and it was my second fav shoe behind the mach 5. I'm on my second pair of trabuco max 1's. Such a great deal for around 100. Great traction, versatile, and last a long time. They feel great even on pavement once I got used to them. I used them a ton for grass volleyball where the traction is great. I even used them for indoor volleyball once, and they did great for that.

    • @andymuncie
      @andymuncie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've just run a trails ultra in them out of the box this morning. You can definitely feel the bounce/cushioning especially when your foot is flat to the ground. I find the 25's not great on damp/wet ground but then I use them on the road. The fit is definitely better in the toe box as it has more room. The grip was great but our run was on sandy dusty and woody trails and it was bone dry. I would definitely use these over the 25's for any type of trail running though.

      @q20a08 ปีที่แล้ว

      Picked up a pair of 4E Venture 8 a while back, quite cheap. I would say the midfoot platform could be wider for my taste, but the forefoot is decent enough. Of course, this all gets back to your particular foot. From some comments of yours I have seen, you might find it a mere 2E-ish pretender. As you might expect, it's not the most expensive-seeming upper. But the outsole resembles fairly sturdy snow-tire tread. I've only given it mild casual use thus far. Seems decent walking some snowy asphalt. Wouldn't over-pay for it.

    I've had these for a couple weeks. I have 3 runs in them. They are fantastic on smooth trails, bouncy, and fun. I tried them on some technical rocky downhills and that's where this shoe is a miss for me. The 40+ mm stack and softness lead to some sketchy lateral stability. For me this is green if you aren't going super rocky or technical. For me it's a send back to RR sports, just too unstable on rocky downhill terrain.

      These are the regular non-CRAZY trail shoes.
      I was positively surprised by v9, didn't like the v10 (too hot upper, too firm forefoot).
      Yet now, new v11 with FFblast foam looks just right!

    Come on guys. I did 20 miles in these yesterday on a moderately technical trail, and I can say without a doubt, this shoe is hot garbage- easily and by far the worst shoe I have ever laced up for the trail.
    The mid foot lockdown is not achievable even when strangling your foot. This causes the shoe to be flat out dangerous on technical descents.
    Lateral stability is non existent. Like actually non existent. In the zegama and caldera your foot at least sits deep in the foam. Not so much here. You're on top of the foam. So you have zero built in stability and just have to hope you're strong enough to not get injured while you slide around on top of a slab of foam.
    The rocker is slightly out of place, putting you too far on the toes for technical descents. Which exasperates the sloppy mid foot issue.
    The foam is mediocre. It's okay, but not great. You all act like this flyte foam blast is some great creation, when you know it's just an over hyped Eva similar to what Hoka was using in 2021.
    You could actually go to Walmart or Payless and get a shoe that would perform just as good or better than this on the trail. The Trabuco is a decade behind Nike, Saucony, or Brooks.
