Thanks Andrew! This goes to show you manufacturers can make a very good laptop (good build quality, lightweight, bright screen, 16:10 aspect ratio, better-than-others speakers, decent battery life) for ~$1000. I just wish HP would use the keyboard from the Dragonfly series. 🤷🏻♂️
Something to note is that if you get a recolor, you get the keyboard back lighting for free. It's actually cheaper to get a recolor than to add the back lighting. ($15 vs $20)
Windows Central recently wrote an article on this. Apparently a deliberate power starving issue on battery power that kills performance. Bigger YT tech channels really need to address the issue.

How would this stack up against my current 2017 Dell XPS 13 (8th gen, Core i5)? The Dell 9360 has been great, but I'm thinking of replacing it with something similarly portable and hopefully a bit more powerful. I'd be doing Office, DAW (Studio One), and hobbyist-level video editing in Davinci Studio and Topaz VEAI.
would you recommend this laptop or the hp envy x360 because i am pretty sure that is a bit more premium and has he same performancewhile also being a convertable and touch screen, and in modern day schools, since we have online learning touch screens can be really useful.

At least one version of this machine is on sale now. I looked at it at a local Best Buy store. It has an approximately 13" 16x9 aspect ratio screen. I care about productivity such as programming, text production and reading, and spreadsheets. A 16x9 aspect ratio is difficult for me to live with for these purposes. Ultimately, especially given the amount of work space given up to headers, a 16x9 aspect ratio screen provides a short elongated view better suited to movie watching and maybe gaming (I don't play games at all, so I'm ignorant about this use) than productivity.
i think you should look at a laptop with dedicated graphics for that. maybe something like the Acer Swift X, which is just a little more expensive than this.
Nice PC for the price. You do not have to pay a premium for a similar PC with the name Dell or Microsoft on it. 720p (mediocre class of cameras) was above average. The microphones sounded a little flat but clear. Display looked good for a machine of this price class. I wonder if the PC with the higher resolution display has touch screen capability. Not crazy of the way they put screws under rubber strips. I would like to see HP get away from this kind of mentality for for opening up the PC. Customers are paying good money for these machines and should not have these silly obstacles in their way. Anyway good "First Looks" review.
Good laptop. If it had 360 hinges and touch screen without increasing the weight, then it's a GREAT LAPTOP! If they added 2 more USB-C 4 ports on the right side, then it's the GREATEST LAPTOP OF ALL TIME!!!
I’m looking at getting this one for school, and it will occasionally be treated badly (thrown bag due to rude students, dropped, hit when I get impatient (i try my hardest to not hit laptops it does happen though) should I get this one or reconsider
