I highly recommend this laptop if you are a student who takes a course that doesn't need a heavy usage of laptop EG any Microsoft 365 software and light editing for presentation but still want some the of the juice and portability.
Any thoughts on whether it's possible to edit with premiere pro or da Vinci resolve..maybe even Sony Vegas would suffice..i would only be working with 1080p.Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated..thanks

Going Mac or Windows really much depends on what you do. If you're doing more enterprise work, then windows. Otherwise, programmers seem to like Mac because it is Unix based. If weight is a concern, go for this. If not the MacBook air is a good option, too.

I did, I would say it is somewhere between 7-8h average, with general use browsing, word processing, file converting, social media, some multimedia, and at 75%-100% brightness. If one diminishes brightness to 50% one could probably get 8.5-10h.
Nice review just subbed. Dell has this on sale for $529 for 16MB/256GB model. Seems like a good deal. Im on an old MBA but i like what i see in Windows 11 and thought this would be a great option to go with.

I don't find it to be much of an issue for the most part. Would I have preferred if the whole thing was black? Yea maybe. Is this a deal breaker? I don't think so. I leave the backlight off always until I work in the dark.
@@MOBHouse I have a silver pavillion. It's a nightmare Uber mixed lighting situations. In my class, I have to turn on the backlight to even see the keys. But it's more visible in a different weather inside the same class. It's just so stupid. A colour with more contract would solved this problem

Would you say that the hinge tilt is a deal breaker for the price? What about the keyboard typing comfort? Both very similar but if you're doing Solidworks and the like, you might want to get a gaming laptop with a discrete GPU instead. It will be bulkier but more powerful.

Love you for that keyboard light comment. I never get either why the keyboard colour matters with backlight. I mean, you are either in dark or not. WTF :D A black keyboard would have looked uglier. There! I have this laptop and it is pretty good for the price. Portability being the key, of course. I have to carry a work laptop (ThinkP.) and another for school (cause security issues), so weight is key. For programming and general use this little baby gets me covered. Special points for the environmentally friendly thoughts from HP (materials used). Also, if you are not in US (so the bitten fruit products cost waaaay more while PCs are often on discount), this laptop becomes an even better deal. Even now, almost a year later.

Nah man HP really messed up the backlighting for the keyboard. It just gives headaches in mixed lighting environments

Power settings should be adjustable. regardless, even if they turn off, they should turn back on when you use the keyboard.

yea. we actually saw it break 24W. but it could be a diff between plugging it and not, I'm not sure.
