Unboxing my (non)Thinkpad X9 15 inch while listening to your video in the background! Just took delivery today. I am feeling hyped! Will report back after having a chance to play around more. I appreciate your coverage of this during CES as it definitely helped me pull the trigger.
That is great to hear - hope you love it!
I‘m using mine for 10 days now. It’s really great. My only concern is, that the backspace key sounds much different from all the other keys. It’s really noticeable, and I hope it will not fail.
Delivery time was also not great, they promised 6-9 days, but it took over three weeks to be delivered to Germany.
But anyways, the device itself is fantastic!
My G....!! Does the decoration of the livingroom match the Thinkpad brand? hehe, awesome!
Continue with the phenomenal material to the entire community of thinkpad users.
Does Lenovo say something about the carbon weave antifingerprint cover? :)
He loves thinkpad so much, it has designed the whole living room accordingly
@@MEZHGANO not quite but it does match up nicely
Looking sharp boss man!
Appreciate it!
Just what I needed. I’ve been debating ordering one for the past couple days. Thanks AMD!
I am glad I could help
I just ordered one will arrive tomorrow hopefully.
how is the baby , any coil whine?
@@renzoarana3018 Hi, I havenot noticed any abnormal noise. very impressed with the light weight, fast for office work. sound is OK, but it doesn't match the quality of sound of my macbook 16 pro max, which I totally understand.
@@daniellu9106 Thank you very much for your kind feedback 😎
Enjoy your sweetie
After about six months, the price almost always drops to ~50% of its launching price. At that time, you can choose optional components like the 5G modem and select a Linux distribution as the operating system. But I feel this model is special compared to the last few generations. It's not necessarily the most innovative, but it's more stable and has a much better battery. Thinkpads have always had that aura and respect.
It’s true that Lenovo does run sales later in the year.
Hey Andrew, hope your well could you possibly do a long term review on the 2024 g16 with the rtx 4090? i am considering buying it, however i am seen alot of negative long term useage, or could i get your opinion ?
The fact that you made a second video on this speaks to the success of this laptop. I too am waiting for the 5g variant. I would love to hear your views on that as well once it arrives, that is, if you are planning to get it in studio. Thanks again AMD!
Glad it was helpful!
Love your vids. But even though I have been a Thinkpad user/fan for more than 20 years. I won't be buying another until they change the trackpad buttons back to the X1 Gen 6.
Also in the scores you just showed, said the this X1 got totally slaughtered. No hyper threading? Why even buy it then?
Thanks
I think the fact that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition comes with a Gen 5 SSD giving you remarkable speeds is phenomenal Andrew! Once again Lenovo is Always innovating!! Excellent work my friend! 👍😁
Agreed, and that is a big deal.
Waiting and watching for haptic touchpad configs. I find touch in a laptop mostly useless, but an OLED touch at a small price delta would probably be a go. Hopefully they release a CTO option--512GB is *fine* by me and no WWAN is also a must.
Yes, it is very but pricey but I dropped the ball since I have an older nano with a smaller screen, still a great little laptop, but wanted something that was a step up and larger screen. Like I said price was a little hard to swallow but I really do like this laptop. Great specs, lite, and so nice and portable. I will be sticking with this for a while.
Oh, I forgot to mention thanks Andrew for turning me on to this laptop. I saw your review and this is what I’m looking for. Lenovo owes you for making people aware of it because, unless I’m an idiot, it is not very apparent on their website.
Nice to see a follow up review of this laptop. It is one thing to review a laptop out of the box as opposed to see some actual real time experience using a laptop over a period of time. Unfortunately you cannot do this will all the pc's you review. You would never have any time for anything else. Great follow up review.
Yes, I will try to do more of these this year. Of course, like you said, time is the biggest challenge.
Hey uncle Billy, it's Jacob
I am considering between getting this and the new X9 14”. One main consideration apart from the weight is how easily dirty or stain prone the laptop is as I don’t want my laptop to be oily and dirty. Thus the X9 seems like a good alternative as it has an all metal chassis though the weight trade off seems a little big.
Can’t wait for your review on the X9 before I pull the trigger!
I am doing a live unboxing of the X9 14 tonight. Here is the link. th-cam.com/users/livemrF8gUDAG5Y?si=tuIG52327XSRNNnp
@@andrewmarcdavidok great!!
the price is the only problem with this laptop XD
Lenovo is known to have very aggressive sales so make sure you check the link in the description for the latest pricing.
@@john_wride There's authorized sellers now selling them below 2K. B&H, and on (rhymes with three)-bay as well.
What’s the XD meaning?
@@ningshi7534 xd is a laughing face, the X is a big squint with the eyes, and the D is a big smiling mouth
@@ningshi7534XD is the acronym for the phrase LOL or Laugh Out Loud. It is an emoticon with the letter X as eyes and D as a laughing mouth.
Hey Andrew. Interesting. Yes, I feel that Lunar Lake is underrated, and deserves more credit. I myself will am aiming towards a 5G laptop(currently aiming for the Surface Pro 11)this X1 Carbon you've looked at will take 3 months to come here to Australia(if we're lucky). Good second take, thanks😀
The wait is tough, but hopefully worth it.
I'm really only waiting for the new track pad. The current 1tb SKU is how I would build it out anyway.
Thank you. Waiting for the 5G Version as my travel notebook. Already love the X1 2 in 1 with 5G. I tested 5G with iPhone16, Netgear M6 Pro and Lenovo internal 5G. The Lenovo internal 5G Quectel modem was the fastest one.
B and H had an open box 512gb model for $300 off (around 1700) a few weeks ago and I pulled the trigger. As a MacBook user I can say this laptop is excellent. For work and travel it is preferable due to the extreme light weight and high build quality . And man, that keyboard.
I hear you on the keyboard - it is fantastic!
Love the Black/Red Thinkpad-themed decor in your office :)
Thanks!
Hey Andrew, I really like your reviews.
I think the Carbon is one of the best computers in the world.
But as others have said here, the problem with them is the excessive price.
And it's annoying and I want to buy a new computer this year
And I need a light computer between 1 and 1.2 kg and computer companies are starting to move in this direction
For example, ACER with the A14 but it has a snapdragon processor that I don't have compatibility with Everything went smoothly that's how I understood it.
Which computers are both light and powerful ?
What do you think of the ASUS S14 if it can provide the same work for years.
I've been with a thinkpad x240 for 7 years now and it's time to upgrade.
Is it worth waiting during the year, interesting models from other companies came out?
Thanks
Remember Lenovo tends to slash prices so always check the link in the description
I am curious, what compatibility issues do you have with Snapdragon?
In fact, while the Surface Pro is known as the lightest ultrabook, when combined with the keyboard, this ThinkPad is likely to become the lightest Lunar Lake notebook in the industry.
The Windows laptops have been very innovative in the last 6 months with the new chips and the new materials to make them lighter. Having a laptop under 1 kg with long battery life is phenomenal.
Is it possible to get one with 5G? And the previous version you will see the carbon pattern on top. It's the same here?
From what I understand the 5G option is coming soon. As for the carbon fiber weave pattern, I don't believe that is offered anymore unfortunately.
Love my Gen 12 but the battery is not great - Waiting on Sensel version to upgrade
Good option for sure.
hi, fan of yours review..i wonder nothing i can find about latest thinkpad "Z", if you have the sneak peak info for that laptop gladly to hear.. ;)
They have discontinued the Z line
How are the speakers for media consumption compared to a Macbook Pro?
Speakers are good, Macbook Pro has better speakers.
Waiting for touch oled and 5 g capability.
I love the ThinkPad line and owned 2 X1 Yoga's as my last two computers. I almost went with the X1 Carbon, but without a sale it is so expensive. I ended up going with the X9, and mine is stuck in customs too. I called UPS and they asked me to send my invoice to a UPS international documents email address to get it unstuck. Hopefully, it won't take too long.
I am going through the same thing. Very frustrating.
Worked for me, I received an email back saying it should be cleared now.
@ awesome
Just got my X9 in
Laptops are not diverse in Morocco and their prices are higher than in Europe. I would like to ask you please if thinkpad p1 gen 6 1tb 64gb 1920x1200 rtx 2000 at $1400 is it good?
I have not found other options at the same price that are worth relying on for years.
It's hard for me to say since I am not in Morroco. That being said, you have to look at it in terms of what the prices are in Morroco are.
Great 👌
AMD, which one would you choose between this one and the Zenbook S 14.
That is a tough one. Price wise I think for most people the S14 is is the logicial choice given the oprice difference, but for a business laptop I would choose the X1 Carbon.
how would u compare vs yoga aura slim 7i ?
Both are really good. The ThinkPad is a business focused laptop and the Slim 7i is a consumer based laptop.
Overall, it seems to be a solid lightweight laptop. Not very performant, but a good office laptop. I think it's worth it to go for the Sensel touchpad + OLED option. It's a big upgrade.
Lenovo is also releasing a flip version of this laptop in February, the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition. Sensel has Tweeted that they will also be present on that laptop.
The flip version sounds interesting, and I'm glad to hear the Sensel is coming to that model!
@@andrewmarcdavid It should be out next month - hopefully Lenovo will send you a review sample.
It should be like the Gen 9, only with better battery life now with Lunar Lake and for the ones with the Sensel touchpad, perhaps the best touchpad along with Apple on a laptop.
They all want an X1 !!! I want an X1!!! I'll wait for the price to drop for a refurbished. Again!!
As you may know, Lenovo runs very aggressive sales and will slash prices. Keep checking the link in the description for the latest pricing.
I think I’ll need your help here. Do you think $1400 for the ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 (1TB, 64GB RAM, RTX 2000, 1920x1200) is a good deal? I couldn’t find a better offer at this price
It's a good deal
@@andrewmarcdavid thank you
I'm waiting for thy x1 yoga gen 10 aura
Just what we needed from Lenovo, a whole bunch of new SKU’s…..
Please review Acer swift go 14 2025 Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processor version.
It’s on my list!
Sounds like a Series Sequel
Does this have Computer Vision?
This model has 1080P FHD RGB+IR with Privacy Shutter
I liked the Nano brand name better. This is a confusing label.
Not sure why others have great experience with this laptop. I don't. Got this two weeks ago. Experience a lot of lag opening apps but it varies. I have the 2gb version. One random problem I had was the laptop not powering on for no damn reason. I thought it got messed up. Called customer service and was told to reset it on the back. There's a small pin hole I had to press for 10 secs and it did power back on. Random but irritating. The last big irritation I had is connecing my usb SSD where my work docs are stored. Opening a pdf, saving, copying all took so god damn long. 10 to 12 secs. It could be the cable, who knows, but it works snappy on my 10 year old laptop. I'm on the verge of return this crap back. Not worth my money.
Have you tried updating the drivers?
@andrewmarcdavid yes I have. Everything is fully updated. That's the biggest issue I have with it, the big lag with my external SSD.
I will never consider it unless lenovo smooths out the reverse notch.
Do people still buy Intel laptops?
They sure do.
Friendly edition
man this laptop is so expensive for what it offers and i cant understand why
@@The_Frant1c how many 980g laptops with a 2.8K OLED 120Hz display and class leading keyboards are out there? Also, not many with Gen 5 storage. Keep in mind, Lenovo tends to slash prices after a few months.
@@andrewmarcdavid you cant argue that this laptop is not overpriced man c'mon now.
Everything good but not number 13 😄
I believe that in certain cultures, No. 13 is actually good luck.
Aaaaah, good old ThinkPad. There are prettier laptops, there are better performing laptops, there are better value for money laptops, but no laptop gives you the no-nonsense-this-guy-means-business air like that boxy little bugger.
Agreed!
Lenovo needs to improve their design it looks very cheap. And the fan noise improvement for all windows laptop is must.
I actually like the design quite a bit. Of course that is purely subjective.
As a prev owner of x1 carbon and few MacBooks I preferred x1 feeling and design.
