Great video. Looks like I’m 9yrs late, but same thing…changed rear brakes and my parking brake went to the floor at the same time my heart sank. Thought about it a little bit and found your video. Great advice!
Just finished rear brake and my e-brake was a little off, your video made it really simple to adjust, only took about 5 minutes, thanks for the tips! Great video
Thanks you, I would have never found it myself. But....the proper way is to check the adjustment of the rear drum shoes BEFORE adjusting the e-brake cable. Worn drum brake shoes will making the e-brake go lower to the floor. Better check your drum brakes shoes for being worn out. After adjusting the rear drum brakes, then adjust the e-brake, but it may no longer be necessary. I liked, thanks again.
Omg! I’m glad I came across this video! I was having the same problem. Did a brake job on my Fri brakes new shoes and hardware. Did my final adjustments on the star wheel. Everything was good except my e brake. This solves my problem. Thank you!
Thanks for posting....just did the same job....and had the same problem......so much easier to solve the problem when someone else has it before you!! lol
Just finished doing front and rear brakes on son's 2000 4Runner. I noticed before starting that the emerg brakes were not working at all. Your video should make this an easy fix. If I find any new tips or problems I will be back to post. Thanks!
Great Video. I needed this so much and could not find how to do it. Much appreciated. While adjusting the cable, I noticed that my shifter cable was loose It does not have a retainer nut. Do you have a picture of yours for comparison? I'm not sure if it's only a nut or some type of assemble that connects the shifter cable to the shifter.
My emergency brake stays on even after I release it, but after I drive a short distance it eventually completely comes off. What could be going on? truck is a 2007 reg. cab , two wheel drive with 131,000 miles
