Hagge Bänke is there a technique or something for masks to be on better?
4 ปีที่แล้ว +5
@@Hermann-lz2jb Yeah, well the straps on this mask come undone very easy. It is from 1988 so... But generally tighten the straps as much as you can. Hold your hand over the filter so you cannot breath and try to breath anyway. Should be an airtight seal.
My friend has one with a rugged obsidian 9mm and with subs it’s the same sound as a paintball gun but quieter. That’s no exaggeration. There’s a reason the mp5 is so cool.
Mic is really good here. Does a good job approximating real life sound of these suppressors.

I have a very good stereo mic for this where I have turned off auto leveling of sound so this is as close to real sound as you get. This mic is used for example for recording sound effects etc.
My favorite video you have made so far! The MP5SD using subsonic ammo is truly the quietest 9mm I have ever shot and you show it here too, mouse fart quiet! I still like your MP5 set-up better ;)

I would buy the mp5sd if I was allowed to own whatever I wanted. Unfortunately I cannot own as much cool stuff as I want in Sweden. So the best compromise is my MP5 with the suppressor. It is very quiet with subsonic ammo!
@Frank Brockman That's not true at all. I have an MP5SD (with ported barrel with B&T suppressor) and have fired thousands of 9mm subs through it and it functions fine and the guy in the background in this video is shooting subsonic ammo in the second magazine in his MP5SD it clearly showing that it's firing fine. I don't know where you get this incorrect info?
@@g.barrett8410 Greg, im currently building a mp5sd, and have had my eyes on the a b&t can. How happy are you with it? Do you regret not getting a cheaper one, like the HE RDTS models? Also, are the b&t cans sealed, or can they be disassembled?
@@michaelklein6781 Both suppressors are good, the RDTS is much heavier than the B&T suppressor Both are quiet and work well. The B&T can be dissembled but is not recommended by factory, it's an aluminum suppressor so you need to be careful if you do take it apart for cleaning.
Thanks so much for the reply, Greg! I couldn't find any of that info online, and images of the can looked like it had holes for an adjustable spanner wrench but i wasn't sure.
I am not sure how the ballistics of the SD with Subsonic ammo would be... the ported barrel is designed to take supersonic ammo... and drop its velocity to subsonic...
You can almost only hear the function of the gun itself with the subsonic ammo. Pretty sure they used to put felt padding on some moving parts to dampen that sound (I’m talking way back during WWII). Surely they can engineer something now to make it Hollywood movie silent (like pew pew silent).

My 1022 is quiet like that, I polished the internals to a mirror shine and have plastic buffers etc.
Per some light Googling, the SD makes supersonic ammo fire at subsonic speed. I Googled it because from the way I heard it in the video, the Supersonic and subsonic ammo sounded very similar in the SD. On the MP5, the difference in sound was more pronounced between the Supersonic and subsonic ammo. Either way, I'm jealous. I would love to fire either, or both, or both at the same time, into a huge sand berm covered with clay pigeons so i can just mag dump like im johnny appleseed planting freedom seeds in a huge pile of dirt! But i am in CA, so....yeah, there's that.

You are correct. On the SD the barrel is perforated to let out gas pressure so that regular speed ammo goes subsonic. Mainly nato spec ball. On the suppressed MP5 I have this does not happen, I have to use subsonic ammo for that effect but I can also use full power ammo with great effect that the SD version cannot use for the same power since it would turn it subsonic.
I don’t believe the MP5SD was ever designed to shoot subsonic ammunition. That’s only gonna increase the chance of malfunction right?? Definitely super quiet tho!!!
4 ปีที่แล้ว
You are probably correct. It was designed to make regular ammo subsonic. Still, very quit
The MP5SD barrel ports were originally designed to slow 124gr ammo to subsonic speed (but it works with 115gr as well). Subsonic ammo (147gr or higher) probably won’t malfunction but there isn’t any real benefit and in fact it will just have worse ballistics than the 124 and 115gr in the SD. The big perk of the MP5SD is you can shoot cheaper/more available 115/124gr ammo and still have it come out subsonic.
just compare the lenght of the silencer - that gives the answer even before shooting. But anyway a pleasure to watch a mp5 in action!

The SD has a reflex suppressor that goes along the barrel backwards and holes in the barrel to vent gas. It has more inner diameter but is also thinner. Volume is interesting not only length. Also it is interesting to compare subsonic ammo between them.
@ well... MP5SD is already designed that it fires regular 9mm ammo as subsonic... using subsonic ammo in this weapon results in really low muzzle velocity.

SD definitely (very subjectively) sounds quieter. I wonder though how shooting across water / ice affects the acoustic signature.
Not going to be any different. I have shot a lot over water. Only thing is that bullets can bounce on water.
What is it about the MP5SD's suppressor that makes it so much quieter? I don't think there's anything (9mm or larger) that even comes close to it.
Barrel is ported so it slows down the bullet to subsonic speeds. You can get similar performance with subsonic rounds out of a regular MP5.
Also the greater volume helps cool gasses more too. Combo of things.
great video, great guns
Thank you 👍🏻

There's really no difference when using subs in a standard mp5. The SD was only created to deal with the 9mm NATO ball issue the military had.
