I still remember calling into SlateBlack when I thought I was sent the wrong color M-Lok panels and have Henry actually answer the phone. Had a short but awesome converstation about MP5s and how finckly they were with suppression and how I needed a correct angled locking piece. One of my few "celebrity" moments. A true legend.. ( in the end I was sent the right color, it just looks diffrent with sun light;) Customer for life

You guys need to create a SMG/PCC PA/Speedway combo course!!
A way to test handling and speed at CQB distance but also how fast you can hit multiple (moving?) targets at 25m/50m and take it out to 100-120m.
A course that will test both the strengths and weaknesses of the MP5 and PPSh-41/Suomi and everything in between.
In WW2 SMGs had to push out further than 50m so a course that test close and long range would be both interesting and entertaining

    • @Ctrl_Alt_Delicious
      @Ctrl_Alt_Delicious หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I might remember wrongly but I'm pretty sure they had a "pistol/cqb" course with a couple firing positions marked by blue plastic barrels, you might be able to find it if you scroll way back in time.
Don't know why we haven't seen it lately, maybe it was on a different location than the practical accuracy course one, maybe content wasn't as well received as other formats, who knows

The guy who currently profiles the ejector faces is probably blind. My 2 earlier Zenith imports were fine, then I bought a Century AP5-P and the ejector was flat instead of having the correct bevel. It of course jammed. I could have sent the gun in under warranty, but it was less hassle to just put in a HK ejector.
The MKE extractor springs are fine.

I have a Century Arms C308 Sporter (their 2nd CETME attempt), which is mostly PTR91 parts with some surplus parts. I don't know if I just got a good one or if they can all shoot like this, but with a Leupold 3.5-10x mil dot scope, it outshoots my M1A.
I agree, the PTR triggers definitely get better after they break in. The trigger got noticeably smoother and lighter, but I'm still having a Springfield trigger job done.
I had an extractor issue when it was "new". I would get a malfunction every 4 or 5 rounds. Either a stovepipe, or it would somehow spin the spent case around 180 degrees and fry chambering it backwards! I called Century since they quickly handled an issue I had with an L1A1 Sporter back in the mid 90's and I foolishly thought they might still have customer service. I was wrong. The CS rep asked me what ammo I was using. I told him I've tried Lake City surplus, S. African surplus, ZQ1 and WWB. He said that was my problem because all HKs with their fluted chambers require steel cased ammo. I told him it was BS, but he wouldn't issue an RO. I waited a few weeks, called back, and this time answered the question saying I was shooting steel cased ammo. This time I was told that was my problem, because all HKs with fluted chambers require brass cased ammo. I replied "AH, you told me exactly the opposite 2 weeks ago when I called!"
Anyway, I was told by someone familiar with HKs to replace the extractor with a German manufactured extractor and spring. After I did that I haven't had a malfunction of any kind in over 800 rounds through both CETME and G3 mags.

The other nice thing about the Scalarworks Absolute Cowitness height mount on an MP5 is that it's just tall enough to clear the MP5 sight hood. Putting a low mount on a T2 on an MP5 means that your sight picture gets very busy. And, if you want to use the iron sights, you could aim through the Scalarworks mount in a pinch.

If you’re a lefty you can use the Streamlight TRL-RM series of lights to great effect. I tried using the included pressure switch that came with it and found it difficult to find a good mounting location and the push button is a great shot already. Another benefit is with some folding stocks it acts as a way to keep it from flopping around when folded.

You guys should probably change the Locking Piece in your guns. It seems MKE is putting 110 or 120 degree LP and there are people that are getting roller dents even on the full sized AP5 when shooting suppressed.
I changed all three of my MKE guns to HK 100 degree LP and gained .003-.004” of bolt gap.
Some of the MKE ejectors are crap. I had to change my Century/MKE AP5-P to a HK. My two earlier Zenith/MKE guns are fine. It’s also fine to use the gray rifle extractor springs. 2 of my MKE have their original extractor springs. My Z5RS has 8400 rounds on the gray rifle spring.

Henry, on your video about which variant AK is most accurate I said you was missing a North Korean which you replied you wish you could get your hands on one, well I now own a North Korean type 68 that I would love to send out to see a video on practical accuracy if that’s alright and you’re down just comment back, thanks

Hey mate that is super generous of you, thanks for enabling us to have more complete content! I'm replying partly in the hope it helps visibility but if you check the description there are links to their website (slate black industries) where they have contact emails. I'd hate for this to get missed due to comment shenanigans or just the volume they receive, and you then get left feeling ignored, send an email if you're willing?

You guys made a lot of changes to the core components to improve reliability. Do you think it’s work buying the non HK versions and replacing those key components or just buying the HK?

You still save well over $1k buying a MKE.
The SP5 and SP5k are both around $2600-2800 now though, so prices are a lot better than they were a few years ago.
I’ve got both, it just depends on how much money you have to burn.

"Mine is less girthy but longer." I am either far too old or not old enough to possibly understand the connotations of such a statement. On something completely different, Henry, what's the C Squadron box on the wall behind the bench?
