I just found his channel, this guy is funny, cool and knows what he is doing, and explains it for you, going to start seeing his channel, the camera likes him
Good job keep being yourself , your the real deal , I’m married with two boys that love cutting and splitting wood , we all enjoy very much what your doing , you are our tv , we don’t watch the news either , keep up the good work
Greetings from No VT (USA) - I hope everyone in the Buckin Army, their families and friends are well. Thanks for all the hard work generating the daily video, always an uplifting experience for us all. Since beginning to watch your channel last fall, I have rescued and re-hung about a couple dozen scrap pile axes, sledges, hatchets, hammers plus a weird tool called a mutt cutter. I have given away about half of my output so far. Most of the old steel is so solid it is freaky compared to the new stuff you see. For most I have hand carved handles from some old white oak scraps and they are awesome working tools. Even though I have dabbled in wood working for 40+ years and have a full workshop I had not done this type of rescue before. Thanks Buckin for giving me a new "hobby".
@@michaelwhiteoldtimer7648 Thanks. Everyone's kids are "beautiful" so I am not an objective judge, but other people have said they were beautiful. I just finished a restoration on a "Genuine True Temper" hatchet my late father got in the early 50's which has been laying around neglected for years. I wish I could share a picture here. I used Buckin's techniques so it is very solid, functional and gorgeous. It will now be my personal "shop" hatchet.
Hey Buckin' I've been following you from the sidelines for a while now. I would like to say that your videos have been a huge help for my mental health during a tough period in my life. Keep on doing what you do!
Buckin" you are a serial axe rescuer !!! Breathing new life into what many would consider to much labor & a lost cause . So often in the tool market , older is better & this can mean much better ! GOD bless you brother !
Buckin you are absolutely the best kind of Weirdo out there! I dare say that a fair number of us subscribers are perfect weirdos in our own right as well, and as of today we number over 160,000! Thank you for putting a smile on our faces once again. It’s a very good time for everyone in the world right now to follow your words of love and kindness. Good luck to Hogan on the climbing job! It has been a true pleasure watching him mature over the years on this channel. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us. Aaron.
Never had my own farm, just spent a good deal of time on my uncle’s. But the handle comes from a friend of mine a long time ago that saw the things I own and how I was fixing something and told me “you are a farmer but you’ve got no farm.” Haha. Just as an example I do own an old farm tractor (picture) and I live in a pretty regular neighborhood where no normal people own tractors.
Well Aaron there's nothing wrong with having a tractor and no farm is it a Ford 3000 ? You never know mate you may get one one day it's a very important job and in these times people are being reminded of that 👍.
Thanks for your kind words and I’ve always thought about a small farm if one ever came our way somehow. My tractor is a 1956 Ferguson F40. Built right at the beginning of the Massey-Ferguson merger so the same tractor was also available as a Massey Harris 50. I use it for everything I can think of around my yard and I run a grader blade on the back for a local church every now and again to fix their parking lot. I occasionally take it to the grocery store to remind people around here that this used to be a farm town. All the kids get a kick out of it.
Oh Joy... Another video!!! Good times buckin!!!! So glad to see ya and all the friendly names on the channel!!!hope y'all are safe and healthy!!! Take care everyone! 👊👍💚

Mr Windschitl. what a legend. All of the different axe heads you sent in were very interesting . Now they are being fitted by Buckin and we can see the finished result it is just great Thank you.

If you’re using watco make sure that the rags don’t self combust. I have had them piled in a bunch and they started their own fire at least 4 times. I thought it was an excuse for a person setting their house on fire once but it happens. I even bundled a bunch together in a sandpit at work and came back to ashes twice. The back of the work truck was smoking on the way home once..

LOVE THIS VIDEO! Billy, I love how you talk about the axe head being “beat up and rough”. I’m a single dad with 3 AMAZING kiddos(14-Boy, 12-Girl, 7-Boy). We live in the middle of the forest that is a State Park here in Maryland, USA. I’ve always loved trees, logging, splitting, and woodworking. My kids have now started to help me chop down trees(yes I said CHOP-lol), and then split the wood for fires and family times. We are using generic home improvement store splitting axes for everything. Billy, how would you recommend procuring some decent axes for my kids and then a good one for myself? I want to have these and more throughout the future so we can continue to make these memories together. Again, LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel! LOVE WINS...IF you let it. Let’s all let it win in our lives!
Love your channel! Just did a similar axe with what I think is a Marbles 3 1/2 on a 36" handle. Been working through a bucket of rusted axes and knives from my dad. Been a lot of fun! I have been making my own wedges out of dried madrone from around my shop. Have you ever used madrone for wedges/handles?
When he sets the wedge... even the ground shakes from the epicness!

Hi there Billy Ray,
I love your axes. Where can a brother buy one. I would love to support your passion and have Buckin Special in my swinging collection. I love your positive messages and your humble kind attitude. I'm learning a lot from you. Thank you for that, friend. Have a great day. I'll be busy practicing kindness and working on my sawmill. Cheers!
I've been hanging old axes. I love making them awesome.
I've been drifting all day and nothing better than some Billy Ray Smith to drift ya down
