Just discovered your channel Buckin Billy and I enjoy every episode. Your the real deal brother. Your passion, honesty and hard work are genuine. Something that’s real scarce these days.
I've just recently found your channel Billy and I have to say I just love watching all of the videos you put on here! I've added some technique to my filing which definitely helped improve my sharping. Your energy, your personality, your charisma, your care for everything you do is simply amazing! The world needs more people like you in it! Thanks for everything you do for us, the viewers!
Buckin Billy Ray, I found your channel while searching for axe videos. I have watched hours of your footage in these last few days. I just wanted to share that your attitude is contagious and it is insidious if a person is already more light hearted to begin with. I wanted to say I am grateful that I found your channel. You have reminded me how much more enjoyable life and everything in it can be if you share a little kindness and open yourself up to feeling good. No joke. I truly appreciate your character. You seem to be a wonderful person. Your kindness carries a long way Buckin Billy Ray. Thoroughly enjoy your stuff and last but not least, Thank you.
Very very cool. I just rehandled a big plumb Jersey I've given up on twice before. Had six metal wedges in it from whoever had it before me purchasing it years ago. All rusted together. Was a right mess but its a beauty now. Seeing this one in the video gives me conviction with choosing a 32 inch. I thought my plumb looked disproportionate but yours looks great.
Thank you for another awsome vid Buckin. I done got me some very tring times going on, you and the Buckin family's positivity zest for life & reminding us all to be kind makes all the difference. It has me feeling like lifes curveballs will be ok!!! I always know where to go when I need some positivity!!!!!
Came across ur channel this last week an I gotta say u hav prob the best channel on utube u get the heart felt kinda feeling watching ur channel that maybe a few channels have I watch the one about ur younger yrs an that's the boat I'm in right now an that video really helps people so I wanna say thank u hav a life long viewer here take care billy ray
May have the possibility of homesteading and I’ve been watching your videos on log splitting. I love you brother you’re energy and passion energise me. I can’t wait to start splitting wood with an axe. God bless you and your family
I love watching everything you do man! Just something about listening to the power saws, the axe smashing the wood to pieces, and the best part watching those trees fall, it's just therapeutic to me for some reason haha. Keep up what you are doing friend! I will watch every video from here on out!
You're the first internet wood splitter I have seen that can hit the same place twice, well done! I love the axe but would want a longer handle for myself, again, well done!
Thank you for sharing your great experience in axe head fitting and sharpening saw chain I have learned a lot from you, your a wise caring man. THANK YOU
Hello friend just wanted to say I love your content and man your saw collection is awesome as well as your axes ive done tree climbing and ran a bucket for an electric company and man I just got hooked to it I love anything to do with trees and your channel is amazing and your demeanor is awesome as well being open with your faith I hope you see this thank you again for the awesome content.
Your energy is infectious. The first couple videos I watched, I thought you was higher than a rats ass. But, come to find out, your just high on life and 2 stroke fumes. I’m a woodworker of sorts myself. I have a woodmizer lt40 super and since I bought the mill, I’ve grown to absolutely love wood with every ounce of my being. Every curve and knot and twist if the grain is like the greatest story that’s waiting to be told. All it needs is a little persuasion from guys like you and me to open the book and let the story unfold and show its true inner beauty. A beauty that would’ve remained locked away forever if we hadn’t took the time to bring it to life. Keep up the good work, friend. People like us are a dying breed.
New handle looks sharp and should take a little more abuse. I like that you mention about taking the palm swell out on a wedge banger - I've built a few axes for fallers and they always want that palm swell sanded down for banging wedges. Messes up your swing and digs into your palm.
I’ve never chopped a piece of wood with an axe before but you make me feel like I’ve done it my whole life. Love your stuff man and keep up the good work!
going back to the first part of the vid. I notice that unlike many guys your placement of every strike lines up with the previous. you are the best teacher. too bad i'm too old to take full advantage of what you offer. sixty five years ago my dad tried his best to teach me. i thought i knew it but compared to you and him i was just a "hack".
That turned out great! I really like those really curvy handles myself but they are impossible to find around here. Most of what you'll find for sale here are junk handles costing twice what they are worth. There use to be an old timer that made handles you could find pulling his trailer full of handles at auctions and parking lot sales. I think he must've passed on since I've not seen him in a couple years. :( I love listening to the stories those old men tell about the old days. Back then they actually used their axes all day five days a week. Love your channel! There's only a handful of channels that discuss axes that I respect and yours is one of them.
Probably the negative comments about wranglestar got reported. That's why being kind is the way to be. Keep up the good vibes and the great videos bucking. See you at buckinstock 2020. Can't wait
ii dug up a Brecks Victor in my yard building a dog pen its my first old axe and it splits wood great with the handle i put on it love the axe stuff you got me hooked
Like i ALWAYS tell my children about EVERY situation in life, is about aspect. Take any situation that has a "bad" or "unfavourable" occurance, people get their undies in a wad instead of looking at the glass half full! Buckin breaks a handle and a lot of people get mad and throw the handle and axe down and dont give it a second thought. Well i break the handle and all i does is give me the opportunity to make it better than it was before. Anyhow sorry for the run-on Buckin, we love you brother, keep up the good work!!!
Sweet. I have noted that the older Sager axes have nice and thin "sexy" handlles. Both the Sager Chemical and Warren versions anyway. I like the bigger knob end on a heavy though. Keep on keepin on Buck. A keep on Buckin🏆
I went over your sharpening video.. Man looking at this i'm not there yet hahaha Looks like your cutting through butter. I'm new here but trying to catch a few here and there.
Neighbor - Always remember, Just like a beautiful woman who is the love of your life, a good ax handle needs just the right curves that fit your hand naturally
See Friends...here he goes...just can't resist those French Curves...he's an Axeman for sure. Buckin', Billnas Bruk Forge in Sweden was founded in 1641 by Carl Billsten. Fiskars bought out Billnas Forge back in 1983...that's where that wedge profile came from. Billnas, Kellokoski and Mariefors Bruk were the main manufacturers of axes in Finland. I hope everyone is doing OK this winter...it is going to get very cold here in Southern BC with an Aectic weather front coming in tomorrow...stay warm Friends!
Billy, I enjoy your videos. You're a tree guy, I'm a fourth generation tree guy, you like old Macs, I like old Homelites. I also collect axes. I have Plumbs, Collins, American Beauties, Kelly's and more. Some are over 100 years old with the original haft in them. Not one singe American ax that I own, with the original haft in it, is hung with the haft sticking proud to the eye, they are all flush. Why do you choose to use the proud hang rather than the traditional flush hang? Thanks, Joe.
Good evening/morning friends, here’s a link th-cam.com/video/htFIT9isN9g/w-d-xo.html to a car port (blue tarp) video. These were the days when this place changed me. Hey, Buckin I sure could use a Sunday video from the saw shack like old times? What do you think? Welcome new subscribers! We belong here.
Hear you got royal company Billy Ray! Just read where you got royalty on the island! Meghan the Duchess of Sussex is visiting and may be planning on living on Vancouver Island.
Would a longer handle that was that thin hold up better? I dislike long ones so just pure curiosity. Or skinny and straighter? still too bad, that setup was a ferrari of an axe.

Taking down that arbutus with an axe..now that's old school man! I wonder if the wood from that tree would make a handle? Keep up the love buckin.
I wonder too
Another great vid, I love how your actually happy when it broke, now I get to rehang it, lol. Great energy right there.
he he
Just grabbed a can of watco (briar smoke). Gonna try on one of my GBA. Might replace my linseed oil. 👍
We need some shock mounts on that tripod, tee hee. It's a pleasure to watch a solid fella' use his talents and hands! Keep on keepin' on.

Hi Billy Ray ,
Where do you get your hickory handles from? I love your process of building an axe . Thanks
hey bucking i am a new subscriber and i must say this channel is awesome!
My old Mac 10 10 pro cut tons of wood wish I could get it running again
The new handle is now “Robust!“
With what thing do u open up your sawed gap in the handle for the wedge later ?
Eatswood Mac! One of my favorite sounds. Just curious, what sort of wood is that lovely curvy handle?
Buckin' Bill Ray Smith, What axe head style is that?

Buckin what is that oil that you put on the axe handles ?
Felling handle on splitter?
Any info on your gorilla axe I can’t find any info on it
👍👍👍👌👌👌
A beef handle will be stronger than a thin light one.
How did you break the last handle?
What brand boots do you wear?
Buckin's choice of boot is Viberg
Hope that helps!

I have a saw i would love to send you and get running!
What Brand/model axe is it? What length handle?
Put your glass on ya big dummy! Otherwise love ya brother
Eye protection, do not practice safe sawing either, but know better.
French, please!! There's NOTHING wrong with a Polish curve. Mmm..Oh Yeah!!
