When I saw Bob Dylan live in the 90s, the stage was dark with only a backlight. The first image the audience saw when Dylan walked out on stage was the outline of his hair and the crowd went wild.
Any true Dylan fan would recognise that they nailed it. Yes, a lot of artistic license, but that is what Bob is about. So many little things put into it and so many nods to fact and fiction that were both truth and Bob's creations. "You were in a Carny? Yeah right".
Amazing that they wanted to pay so much attention to detail but then tell a mostly fictional story. A lot of the film never happened, from Dylan being on Seger's TV show with a fictitious black bluesman, to his relationships, to him performing with Baez at the 1965 Newport show and riding there on a motorcycle with Suze Rotolo . It's all fiction.
James specifically said this was NOT a biopic, even though the press presented it as such. It’s a retelling of a time period. Bobby D himself read and changed the script. He wanted stuff included that didn’t happen and changed things that did. Also key stuff that happened had to be compressed to be able to fit within the movie. If you don’t like the end result, blame Bob himself.
The movie itself is so emersive and ingaging, and FEELS like a documentary, and it's NOT a documentary, its an elaborate $50+M movie set. It's equivalent to a Rodan sculpture, not anatomical correct, but masterfully assembled to emotionally remind you of your humanity.
I just watched Dylan's 1965 press conference, it's amazing to see how little of Bob was put in this movie. Chalamet just kind of grunts and mumbles his way through it, his vocals are a 3 out of 10, and he lost all the humor of Dylan at the time. Not everybody likes everything equally. To me, this movie was absolutely fantastic - every single thing about it.
Except the facts, it's mostly fiction.
@@edsmith3461-z7m so is bob dylan
What a great movie. I can't wait to see it again. Timothee nailed the part. Regina Graves decorated the set to perfection.
I feel the same, we wait unpatently for the start , Greetings from Germany
fantastic movie
Great great movie.
This movie should really win the Academy Award along with all actors and actress's as well as James
