Pt1 shows you the Groom's procession with musicians, singers and traditional Lao dancers as they walk along with family and friends of the groom to the Brides house for the traditional ceremony. Full of tradition, Lao customs and culture, this video shows you from the start of the Groom's procession to finish, just before the Wedding ceremony starts.
The wedding ceremony will be the Pt2.

Traditionally the procession starts from the groom's family home all the way to the bride's home. The whole family including distance relatives and even the people in his community or village would take part in the parade.
Lao has a very communal culture.

I prefer civil weddings over traditional or religious weddings .The certificate is the same yet civil wedding cost 50$.Not so many restrictions just bride groom two signatories.
Your a better man than me Todd, I would not of been able to deal with all the pushing and crowding around me. I have bad PTSD and strong hostile anxieties. I see everyone was getting a nice amount of spirits before the, fight your way in. Like the shoes, if I was to run from this I would end up on my nose eating dirt LOL. it was cool and like many Asian weddings.

We did our wedding photos in a small photographers across the road from the back of Talat Sao, near the bus station as it was too hot to do outdoors. I was dressed up just like you, sword, funny shoes etc and wife was dressed up Lao style even though she is Thai. On wedding day, (in Thailand) we knelt together as family did the string around wrists and give us money, also I had to pay mother and father for the bride.. In the evening we had a stage set up with live singers and we went around the tables collecting envelopes containing money. All the food was prepared by a food company, 4 people per table which included 4 different dishes plus whiskey and beer.
But after a happy time we have now fallen on very bad times, forcibly separated by the Thai government.

Hey Colonel... I don't think the whole surprise thing is as big here as it is with us in the west. Because of our situation and having to plan well in advance (engagement and marriage documents take literally ages here) Neenee was well aware of where we were heading, tho she never suspected I would "pop" the question like we normally do in the west.

Laotians and their tradition look like Myanmar, especially Shan, one of the ethnicities of Myanmar. However, Buddhists there don't drink. They keep 5 precepts. Drinking is prohibited.
The problem with traditional wedding in Africa is it's very expensive money people don't have but weddings are done for show off.bigger weddings than in western countries.fleet of cars 20 plus . catering etc average guest's it's 500 people plus gate crashers.people spend even 15yrs recovering from debt .plus you pay bride price depending on the type of family you get the girl from middle class rich or wealthy.weddings cost from 5000$ us ,to 50000$.
