    Grinding and sanding rust off rims takes forever, I've done it a couple times but it's always a pain and there's usually rust still left in the really hard to reach areas. Sandblasting is a lot more effective if you have access to it, or setting up a little electrolysis tub at home is a good way to lower the amount of work you have to put into getting the rust off. Good job for saving those completely fine rims from the dump

      I realized half way through that there should’ve been an easier way of getting the rust/paint off the surface of the rims rather than grinding them cus yeah ur right the grinding process took forever and a bit of work but thank you for the feedback I appreciate that :) 🙏🏼

      @@ManiiZilla Sometimes you just gotta work with what you got. I just tried using electrolysis on some rims and it worked but is kind of slow, so I gave up halfway through and just got them sandblasted along with my trailer frame. Thanks for the videos!

    A hand held Sandblaster from Harbor Freight is only $40 and it would have only taken you 20-30 minutes plus it gives you a better surface to start on.

    I usually sand and paint the area where the tire bead sits since rust in this area can cause air leaking.

      Thank you so much for your comment. I'm about to start painting one wheel, and thought it is better not to paint in the bead area, but here came across your statement. Thank you again. Do you happen know if I can use paint for grills (up to 2000F), or it is better to purchase paint for wheels?

    • @wadeyorke8144
      @wadeyorke8144 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @olenaerhardt7725 I used Tremclad Rust paint (the paint must be made for application on metal) and applied it with a brush. You can also use spray paint, but that ends up costing more, but it is faster to apply and faster to dry.

      @@wadeyorke8144 Thank you for the replay. And it is very good to know about hand applied paint. I've never used it on cars, but I painted everything inside of the house, I know how to work w/a brush. And I always thought that it would be good to apply some patches on rust spots or smth on a car w/brush sometimes. I'll keep in mind the reference for that paint. CrisFix recommends certain paint for auto, but probably I'll go w/what I have, still it will be better than before. Thank you kindly again.

    Impressive if you have the tools at home. My sister's benz battery died and I was wondering if you think I could save money by replacing it at home myself (and how), I imagine this could be difficult.

      Shawn Nagra you can definitely save money by changing the battery at home just do your research with your new battery get a nice one and also don’t forget you’ll have to reset the clock on the dashboard

    Thank you for the film. I am replacing tires and saw that rims were rusty (not that much like in this film, but rusty, it was like a layer of rust, you wipe it out and it comes back again). I removed that rust w/Rust Remover Navy. It came out rather nice and clean. I was looking for the film on painting. I'm glad I came across this film, very informative, thank you. I have some paint for grills (up to 2000F), I think I can use it. Is it O'K to use that type of paint, or it should be automotive paint strictly? Thank you for you wonderful film again. Very thorough work.

    Question: shouldn't you use a microfiber cloth on the rims after everything to get any residue or rust powder that the air didnt get off

    • @ManiiZilla
      @ManiiZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seamus Bean normally id use a microfibre cloth on an aluminum rim but there were tiny rough spots on these steel rims that the microfiber would’ve stuck to so instead I just pressure washed the rims to get any loose dirt/rust off
      Good question though I appreciate the feed back! 🙏🏼

    • @ManiiZilla
      @ManiiZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Daniel Powell Hey my dude you could do that if it’s just for the appearance but the rust is still gonna grow underneath the paint, if you really wanna do it properly you gotta remove all rust with a grinder or sandpaper and then paint over it but if you don’t really care too much and just wanna paint over it you could but it’s not gonna look that smooth painting over rust

    An easier and better way is to head to Home Depot. pick up a jug of metal/floor prep. Add it and a couple of gallons of water together in a plastic garbage can. Gently drop the rim into the solution and call it a day. Next day take it out and rinse the rust free rim off. These rims can be de-rusting themselves while you go to work and make real money ,lol. The solution can be used over and over. Realistically, I get the free rims, but tires ? Get out. Not a real world free item.

    • @TheREALOC1972
      @TheREALOC1972 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or go to Harbor Freight and get one of their hand held sand blasters like I did, it cost me $30 5 years and it only takes 20-30 minutes per rim, I can literally do 2 rims throw on the first coat of paint and then do the other 2 while the first coat is drying and then paint them and let them dry and do the 2nd coat well within the 2 hour flash time.
