I have the bass pro 10 pond prowler with a minn iota 40 lb thrust on the stern, I put a rudder from Amazon on trolling motor. The rudder only cost $25 and it helps a lot for making boat track straight. Try operating trolling motor from stern and I think you will like it better.
Picked up a free pond prowler 10 at the local dump. Looked like a kid went to town on the hull with claws of the hammer. I plastic welded and stainless screened in the holes for reinforcement. I have an old 3.5 hp for it and cant wait to take it out. I'll mainly fly fish and pull trot lines with it. 6'3 275lbs and from what I've seen online, this thing is near impossible to flip. I'll trailer it in my utility traier so i can keep everything ready for some impulsive fishing.
Does the boat accumulate water inside the pontoons ever. I am in the market for one of several models but have seen where they do get water inside. What model was your video
I have a angler pro 10 ft and I love it . It got me out in the water this year and I caught a ton of fish on it . I did start with a 30lb thrust and upgraded to a 50lb . The butt is the issue but I put a throw day yet float cushion on the seat and its not only perfect but just something there to help out incase of a emergency .Glad to see someone else in a boat like that . I am proud of my little boat it gets me out there to fish and that's all that matters . I will go down bank of a guy in $50k boat and catch fish in front of him when they are not . Love it 😆
Dude, that thing is loaded! You look like Huck Finn running away down the Mississippi! Your dedication is appreciated! Thanks for taking one for the team!
I had one of those and stumbled up on a Basshound 9.4 with lights and livewell on the cheap. It is like new. I absolutely love it for this small lake close to my house.
Just picked up a used one, see how it works this weekend. Bass fishing . Putting 30 pound thurst on it just like yous. Came with upgraded seats 5 inch thick.
Love the little boat I have a Lowe 1236 Lake Jon with a trailer and planned on taking the middle bench out and putting in a lower floor and put my pedestal in it, I have looked at several little boats just wonder if buying one of them and leaving my Jon alone would be better? I have a ton of room in mine now and going to cutout open the backbench for storage and adding a hinged lid and cut the 2 side back spots for my batteries I normally fish by myself but will have a back seat.
I bought a Bass Hunter in 1993. Still use it every week. Seats are no issue with me. I have 1 battery it last all day plus. See you put fishing pole straps on it. I do now after losing two rods and don't know how. Hope you enjoy yours. They're fun when you hook a bigger and it pulls you around the lake.
I took mine to the lake on a very windy day to test it. These pontoon style mini bass boats are impressive. Not $30,000 stable but it is worth every penny.
Thanks for the video. I like to see guys with the small pontoon style boats. I have the sun dolphin 8 and I really like it, although in retrospect I wish I would have bought a Bass Raider.
This is probably my favorite 10e video, and I’ve watched ALOT. Specifically, I’ve been wondering about flipping and punching from a seated position. Thanks for talking about that, and even showing us. I grabbed a 7” riser for my seat so I’m hoping that makes it even easier. If I can Bill Dance it all day and still punch the weeds I’ll be a happy man.
This is in my finals for small fishing boats. People have to understand the boats design and build vs. its intention. Small lakes and ponds. Small motor and space, bare boned for your taste to dress up. Couple times a month, throw it in your truck bed and get movin’. If I were dreaming of a Tracker every day this boat would let me down. But I just dream of gettin fresh air and fishing with my kids. Sold.
Sweet boat there, I am going to buy one next spring..get deep in those coves. Asked for today off last week to fish...cold front drops down on us...30 degrees...1 dink all day. Such is life but hey, a bad day fishing is better than any day working! Keep rippin lips Hank.
I’m 6ft 2in and 270. I bow mounted a Terrova on my Bass Raider and put a 2.5 Mercury on the back. I mostly just use the remote over the foot pedal. It’s a great fishing machine. Gives me spotlock and auto-pilot.
And you are right. I fish a lot of 300 acre size lakes and it’s a perfect rig for it. Just have it on the bed of my truck and back down the boat ramp and slide it straight into the water and pull it back on straight from the water.
glad to see a bigger guy do a video on this. been looking into one of these little boats. im only 5'6 but around 350lbs. i was curious how this would do with bigger guys. which im sure ur lighter than me lol. but thank you for the video man very helpful
I have a similar style, called a Quest Angler 8. It's only 8' I do alright in it and I was heavier than you when I bought it. So I think you'll be ok too.
Thanks for the vid. I want to get one too but I don’t want a trailer. I wonder if taking it in and out of truck would be worth it , especially putting it in the bed at the ramp. Thanks
It only weights about 125 I think you would have to take the batteries out and put them back in but I used to do it with my 14ft jon so it's not to hard.
Its cool to see you out on the little boat, the last few days I was looking at getting the same one for the more shallow lakes and rivers that my boat can't get to. Have you run it in any rivers that have a current to it?
Awesome set up man! I’m hoping to be able to get an absolute basic boat by next spring. All I want is something that floats and I can move without a trailer. Love to hear your thoughts as I’m a total rookie about boats. Keep on keeping on!!
9 combos! I've got the same problem. I always tell myself I'm gonna take 5 and always wind up with 12 -15 combos. Just picked up my 3rd aluminum jon for a winter build project. Be safe.
Glas you’re back out fishing, Hank! As a big dude myself - 6’2” and about 360 pounds - I’ll be curious to see how you continue to make mods to the little boat as you use it more. Thanks for sharing. God bless, BassGeek!
That's why I got this one. There are 5 smaller lakes that are closer than the big lakes I fish in the bass boat but all them are electric only. I'm 6ft and 340 so it holds up well on the first trip.

Hello Bass Geek that was awesome and you see the boat out on the water. I'm glad you enjoyed your set up that you have. Sorry to hear the seats not working. I know exactly what you mean about that. You take it easy brother and have a good day.
It's a good rig. I got one just like it, have the 36 lb. t-motor and put a 5'' Bird on it. Do you like that K-9 fishing line? It cast good but if you bash lash just a little on a spool its over. It well break on a cast. I'm still using it but if I do loop a spool I take it off. FLC
I've not really used it enough to tell you. I'm going to get some more and really but it to work on the reels I use a lot. I was just thinking about this. lol You a mind reader?
I love my raider. But as usually a one man show it sometimes it is difficult to load in and out of my truck due to its height in relation to the launch
you want to stop that boat from turning in the wind , make a fixed rudder for the back , one that you can raise and lower just not turn , few vids out showing how , just add it to your transducer shaft
That looks like a lot of fun. If you really want to put the stability to the test, let me know, in 603 255ish, would live to Congress up the and fish, or have you come over the MT to NC. Got a lot of small lakes here for that, I will even let you try ot thes yak if you want.
Got a little boat just like yours I use it for ponds its great for getting out and hitting the ponds and they are very stable much better then a flat bottom jon boat
I've had this one for about two years now which I've had a few of these boats in the past me and my son wear the ponds out I live near Norris lake but it's not ever going there with me on it to many idiots on Norris
And yeah there is night and day difference between these boats with the pontoon style bottom and the flat bottom jon boat I actually feel like I'm not going swimming when I stand up unlike a jon boat you sneeze while your standing and you're swimming
I’m a big guy 350 and It seems great now you need to set more toward the middle so maybe a foot controlled trolling motor for us. It’s stable but spinning around is sketchy. Upgrade and reinforce the seats also.
The Pelican turned out great Hank! Dont forget that bilge lol!! I've found the lower unit in the water keeps the back from blowing around, not just weight, so maybe you could make a fin to clamp on and drop in?
Hey nice to see you in the 10 e . I bought one myself did some cool mods to it. Looking forward to the weather changing up here in Seatle so i can get out . Heres an idea.Hows about an UNCUT Bass fishing trip challenge on the 10 e with you and you bud? I would watch that. Keep up the good work brother!
@@richardkeller6940 I’m hit or miss. I had a 13ft job and really loved it. The raider is super light and you can set up higher. It may (for a big guy like me) be just a tough more stable also. But there are down sides to it also. Both have their plus and minuses.
Woohoo she didn’t sink!!! Glad to see you finally fishing out of it. Looking forward to the seeing the first fish caught as well. When you did set the hook, the boat definitely looked stable like you mentioned.
Hank, all of the new small set up. Got it mitt though, you crack me up. Saying you had too many rods. I fish in a 15 foot river hawk all the time with either 8HP, or 55lb minnkota. I Always say I got too many rods!! And I need to back down to 5-6, instead of the 9 I always seem to carry. LOL good luck with that reduction. So hard to do if you’re the only person in the boat at that time. LOL
I love my lil pelican boat that you seen me on at pound they are nice yours is looking good flip the strike king rage bug out there I've had good luck with thise
The stability thing comes a lot from practice too cause I’ve been fishing out of a canoe and I stand in it. I’m about as big as you and it felt tippy at first but it just takes some practice
I only use a lawn mower battery And it gives me plenty of life on my Troll motor And try using a old troll motor And making a rudder for the Back Cut the head off the bottom And use an old beat up sign or piece of aluminum For the Rudder fin
I have the same boat. I too have two batteries. I’m thinking about running them in parallel to get longer time out of them. How are you using your batteries? Oh and great video.
I use them one at a time. I have a lot of camera gear and a large depth finder on the boat so I use one for the trolling motor and one for all the other crap. hahaha
Wow.. BassGeek is now in the Pelican Bass Raider World.. Gotta checkout my mods on the Pelican Bass Raider. You need one of our tables. I absolutely love this Pelican Bass Raider. Fish on!
@@BassGeek that is great Sir. I think you will like it. I'm every bit your size if not bigger and I can stand, sit and fish for hours on that little boat. Love your channel. Learn a bunch from you. Fish on and have a great season.
BassGeek id take a spinning set up for weightless / Incase panfish, a medium casting set up with a snap for cranks and stuff, and a med/heavy for t-rig/ everything else 🤷♂️
i want to buy one of these so dang bad!! but im 400lbs.. and if i bring by brother along with me that is another 150lbs.. then after tackle and batteries.... im not sure if the boat will hold my fatass..... please if you have any info please let me know!!
RhinoJoe Outdoors ehh it’s like that with all of them. I just had a Lowrance guy contact me about the trouble he’s had. I’ve had 6birds and this is the only one I’ve had trouble out of.
How are you liking the boat? I built a carpeted casting deck for my bass raider and I love it. I have a how to video on my page in case your interested.

LOL
Wow, Siri really screwed up what I was saying, but U get the jest. Ha ha. Love the small set up!
Yeah man I know. My triton has like 60 combos in it. I have a problem.
I love my lil pelican boat that you seen me on at pound they are nice yours is looking good flip the strike king rage bug out there I've had good luck with thise
Yeah I like it. I have a fishing video coming and yeah the rage like bug.
The stability thing comes a lot from practice too cause I’ve been fishing out of a canoe and I stand in it. I’m about as big as you and it felt tippy at first but it just takes some practice
That's true for sure. I like the stability of this little boat
Great video. Love the channel
Thanks very much.
LIKE IT !! HOW ABOUT AVIDEO HOW YOU LOAD IT ?
I will include it in a video. Thanks.
Man,now I kinda want one of these little Pelican boats. Great job on your setup. #BASSGEEK
hahaha Don't blame me! hahaha Be good man.
love the new rig! can't wait to see what ya get into with that! one day ill have the storage to afford and store one myself! :)
It's a fun little boat. I can't wait to get back out.
Boat looks awesome bro. I miss my little Jon boat. There just something about fishin out of one of those little boats
There really is it was so much fun just being out there. I loved it.
I only use a lawn mower battery And it gives me plenty of life on my Troll motor And try using a old troll motor And making a rudder for the Back Cut the head off the bottom And use an old beat up sign or piece of aluminum For the Rudder fin
Great Ideas!
Always wanted a boat like that. Go for the Lithium batteries, they're expensive, but you'll be happy you did!!!!
Yeah I think your right.
I have the same boat. I too have two batteries. I’m thinking about running them in parallel to get longer time out of them. How are you using your batteries? Oh and great video.
I use them one at a time. I have a lot of camera gear and a large depth finder on the boat so I use one for the trolling motor and one for all the other crap. hahaha
BassGeek thank you for replying.
@@hashtagjustadad5110 Anytime sir.
Great boat for a great guy
hahaha well thank you.
You like it cause of stability. I'd call it funability
hahaha it is just fun.
I really like that, It’s a nice little setup. Nice video buddy 👊🏻
Thanks man. I can't wait to do some more fishing out of it.
Wow.. BassGeek is now in the Pelican Bass Raider World.. Gotta checkout my mods on the Pelican Bass Raider. You need one of our tables. I absolutely love this Pelican Bass Raider. Fish on!
I have sir. I can't wait to use it more this coming year. You are one of the channels that inspired me to go this way instead of a kayak.
@@BassGeek that is great Sir. I think you will like it. I'm every bit your size if not bigger and I can stand, sit and fish for hours on that little boat. Love your channel. Learn a bunch from you. Fish on and have a great season.
@@fishingwithvance Love your channel and your insta game. Thanks man.
Nice boat buddy.
Thanks!
Challenge, 3 combos or less and tackle has to fit in a classic tackle box! ❤️👍 great stuff bro!
I can do it.
BassGeek id take a spinning set up for weightless / Incase panfish, a medium casting set up with a snap for cranks and stuff, and a med/heavy for t-rig/ everything else 🤷♂️
Hank, Are you left handed or have you taught yourself to cast that way? Good fishing and good luck.
I've taught myself. I can cast with either hand. Some times it's funky but I can hahahaha
I like the boat.
Thanks.
I like the small boat.
Awesome thanks.
I like the new boat
Thanks.
👍
Thanks man.
Would you trust standing on it like a jon boat
I do. It's as stable if not more. Depending on the jon boat.
i want to buy one of these so dang bad!! but im 400lbs.. and if i bring by brother along with me that is another 150lbs.. then after tackle and batteries.... im not sure if the boat will hold my fatass..... please if you have any info please let me know!!
I'm not sure either but I'm 350. Maybe see if you can test it out.
You have had so many problems with those humminbird units.
Well just this one. I've go 3 and this one seems to be the Ahole. lol
Yeah I’m considering getting one of them and seeing how much trouble you have had makes me second guess it
RhinoJoe Outdoors ehh it’s like that with all of them. I just had a Lowrance guy contact me about the trouble he’s had. I’ve had 6birds and this is the only one I’ve had trouble out of.
How are you liking the boat? I built a carpeted casting deck for my bass raider and I love it. I have a how to video on my page in case your interested.
I'll have to check that out. I'm having issues with the trailer that come with it but I'm working on that so I hope I get to get out in it more this year.
What trailer did you get I just load it in the bed of my truck lol. Yeah and I’ve been wanting to go take it out but I can’t with this lock down.
Get a stadium cushion
I will
What's the weight limit on on that boat?
I don't know. I'm like 340 so it handled me well
Add a PWM , the battery life will impress.
That's a very interesting idea. Nice thanks.
It’s deer season you hunt
I hunt bass year round man. It just what I do.
I fish and hunt so I just kinda just do it all
@@monstersofthewater3648 My wife would kill me if I spent money on more than one hobbie. lol
Boat control stinks on these boats I have the same boat and trolling motor
It does with the wind but if you get used to it it ain't bad. they sure ain't a bass boat.
