    The reason the needle movement and fuel consumption reading don’t look like they match is due to the size of the fuel tank
    The bigger the tank the slower the needle will move ( if we compare cars give the same consumption range)

    As a person who lives with this car I can tell you that it is the best hatchback money can buy right now! This 121kw and 213nm engine has been tried and tested on the base model CX-5 and on this car is even faster. Even without a turbo it still faster than a 118i 1 series, faster than the Golf 7.5. Mazda In other markets have this car with adaptive cruise control and auto braking embedded in the emblem and AWD the turbo power pushes about 186kw 400+kw bringing that car to SA is risky for Mazda SA as people here are brand loyal and people will complain that in Cyril’s economy paying R800k is madness. Just wanted to mention that I’ve averaged 5.2 litres with highway driving and about 7 litres with city driving wena you have a heavy foot! That 12 speaker bose sound system also has active noise cancellation where it works with drowning out engine and road noise. But what’s more impressive is that this car comes standard with everything you see. Blind spot monitoring, leather seats (even in red) climate control, sunroof, rear pdc, black rims standard on the Astina. Not everything is about speed! This car is for a grown up

      And yet the car comes with everything except heated seats, and performance over the 118i is pathetic this is supposed to be on par with 120i performance wise since it's a 2L. There is a non-turbo SP25 spec with 138Kw & 250NM which Australia gets & Mazda detunes this one to the lousy engine we get and claim quality of fuel as a reason whilst charging over R500k. Now is that really a good excuse or rather a lack of engineering effort?

    For the fact that it cost similar money to a fully specced polo R line, I can definitely take the Mazda...superior size, quality and is premium as well.

    You could be confusing fuel efficiency with fuel tank range. The consumption figures you quoted are typical for a car this size. What gives you a pathetic range is the small tank, and that also contributes to the 'fast moving' fuel needle you observed.

    Main completion right now comes from fellow Japanese counterparts such as Toyota Corolla Hatchback and Honda Civic RS

    Am sure true mazda people would know when you buying a mazda vehicle fuel efficiency is not on the cards for all mazda vehicle. What they are after is pure driving pleasure and for the turbo issue its not even necessary on this car thats even on most of the mazda vehicles are running on non turbo and super reliable engines no issues (engine & gearbox issues) like the vw cars

  • @ManlikeRalph
    @ManlikeRalph ปีที่แล้ว +6

    That needle movement maybe its from a smaller tank??..i dont know

    Absolutely beautiful car, I can't afford it but I enjoy seeing the refinement on Mazda vehicles 😭🤌🏼 they knock it out of the park and I love that the focus is on the driver.

    Overseas you get this car and the CX5 with a 2.5l Turbo engine. Mazda SA is screwing the SA customer as usual.

    Which one should i buy Astina 2.0L or Corolla XR 2.0L?

      Go with the mazda, much more premium interior, but if you want a touchscreen you can go with Corolla. These cars are evenly matched, depends what your preference is

  • @siphelele87
    @siphelele87 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I don't understand the obsession with turbo charged engine, that 2.0L is more than adequate,it's not a sports car,it's a family car. Turbo is just an unnatural source of power which are unreliable.

    • @Khanyisani_Bill

      Turbo improves the car's fuel efficiency, which is kinda important with today's fuel prices

      @@Khanyisani_Bill not really with real world driving,naturally aspirated engines do better,the turbo engines are smaller & need to work harder,in real world driving not lab testing

    It’s the disrespect Mazda has for RSA this car is fitted with radar cruise control overseas. Also they don’t allow South Africans skyactiv X but what’s so special about Europe’s 95octain?

      Our best fuel is their worst fuel. Thats why even ford stopped bring focus and fiesta STs to mzansi. Our 95 is 91 in other markets.
