    Your one of the best Brian. Not only do you share mechanical skills, you share parts of your life and when your a positive person, it matters. Before becoming an Army Cobra pilot I was a Crew Chief on a Huey. One summer while stationed in Alaska we helped fight a fire and I was the guy in the back pushing the button to unload water from the bucket. That was one of the best summers I ever had. I'm excited to see your garage taking shape and can't wait to see it in operation.

    Great tip on the o-ring, thanks for sharing the link to free shop manual. Being on SS budget, this is a blessing for sure. If my perkins pan"s out to be good, will be replacing the F-Head Willy's with it. It's a 1965 CJ5, so kinda rare find. (@@)!. Be safe out there on the fire lines. Bear. Nice shop!

    Just watched your engine rebuild series. I have an old JCB telegandler that I want to refurbish, for the reasons as you.. need a new man shed!
    You very briefly mentioned that you fitted electric solenoid the main fuel pump, rather than the mechanical stop. If so, I what parts did you use and how?

    I have a similar engine on my boat and I am servicing the engine and took out to my garage, after changing the oil and all filters. I realized that the solenoid was never connect electrically. Now I am trying to start it in my garage and after bleeding all the system I still cannot fire it up. Do I need to connect the solenoid? Do I need to bleed the engine in some special way? any recommendation is very welcome.

    What?? You mean you bought a gasket, from a pre made gasket seller, and the gasket didn't fit?? How did that happen?? I've never heard of that before!! In September! On a Wednesday night!! While eating dinner! And watching BMob1! At 6:58pm! That's never happened to me once!! A million times maybe, but never just once!!
    You'd think that an entity specifically in business to make pre made gaskets, would actually make a gasket that fits what it's intended to fit! I would expect a tow company pre made gasket to be flawed! Or a dental office pre made gasket to be flawed! Or a pet food makers pre made gaskets to be flawed!!
    And while I'm on the subject! How do we know that pet food tastes good to a dog!! My dog licks her butt, drinks out of muddy water puddles, and spends time over a fresh pile of poop, to insure that she remembers that particular smell of that pile of poop, from the next or last pile of poop that she sniffed! I have seen her eat a bug, because it was slow enough to be caught!! She licks the toilet bowl!! And we are concerned about the taste and freshness of dog food!
    Oh, ok. Back to fudged up gaskets, from fudged up gasket makers!! (I used fudged! Y'all figure out what I really meant)

    • @roadkill5333
      @roadkill5333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      briansmobile1...if you get bored on your all nighter, just grab a pencil and a piece of paper, and try to formulae a better tasting dog food! Then come up with a way to make gaskets that are for a specific area, FIT THAT SPECIFIC AREA!!
      If you can accomplish JUST THOSE TWO TASKS, you'd be rich beyond all belief!!

      @roadkill5333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, well done on the Perkins rebuild series. I have a 4.236M Perkin in my sailing boat. I trained and worked as a Marine (submariner) engineer in the Australian and British navies and rebuilding diesel engines was second nature. But I left engineering to go into the commercial business world until retirement 25 years later. In retirement I had an aspiration to rebuild my Perkins as it was consuming oil (a litre for every 12 hours of operation). Despite my training I was slightly apprehensive having not been on the tools for so long. I stripped the engine down and sent the block to the machine shop to press fit the cylinder liners only to be told the bock had a gouge between the No. 1 & 2 cylinders (the gouge was about 10 thou deep and caused when the head gasket blew about 10 years earlier - I fixed it at the time with metal putty (Devcon) as I was half way between Asia and Australia and this worked a treat. The short story was the machine shop were cautious about shaving 10 thou off the bock as they claimed it would upset the compression and the valves might hit the pistons. I wasn't convinced. However the kindly sold me a workshop reconditioned 4.236 long engine for the price of the rebuild kit, which was the deal of the century, as well as getting a reconditioned head that I hadn't planned to refurbish. I took the opportunity to fit either new parts (starter motor, alternator) or have them professionally rebuilt (injector distributor pump). I very much enjoyed watching the entire rebuild series, learnt a few tricks and hints and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I enjoy my Perkins and feel safe in the knowledge that I know every bolt and intricacy. I had the oil cooler blow the side out when we were in Hong Kong 20 years ago (electrolysis caused by stray currents), but found a Perkins dealer a short bus ride away from where we were berthed. Great engines and worth keeping them alive.

    Einstein said the possibility of life starting by chance is so astronomical as to be impossible, therefore I believe in a supreme being. Besides guys, what have you got to lose? If I have a chance at eternal life, I’m taking it. If it doesn’t pan out, I’ve lost nothing. I’ve said all my life, you can’t go wrong by helping people, even if you gain nothing by doing so. Your reputation will follow you. Plus you’ll have a huge crowd at your funeral, to tie up traffic

      Mt man 1949 people believing in god(s) is fine. People organizing and voting based on what the organization says is a problem. There is 1 person in Congress that has no religious affiliation while 1 in 5 U.S. adults is not. That’s a massively underrepresented proportion of the population.

    First time commenting on your Channel Brian. I'm looking to rebuild a barn find 2.2.L Perkins out of an old '83 Ford Tempo. Anyway, I used your channel to rebuild my '02 2.5L Subie. Thanks for the guidance. Here is some friendly advice for rebuilding. Consider "demagnetizing" the block, the head, crank, cam - other. It's a simple way to release hidden metal shavings/grit from rebuilders. I re-wash everything because I'm "anal" about it. Good luck - enjoy paragliding!
