      Mike Wood: You are falling into the Lie TRAP. She is romanticizing Our Latino Culture.
      The Latino Culture well, I am LATINA; and is Not what She Says. Latino Men don't DO everything She Says. They are Not formal like that when dating; and they would easily Go inside her pants without Asking for permission; without Spending $ Mexican Peso on her!!! In the USA, it's called Rape; but in our Latina Culture; it's expected from Our "men" and WHY do you think there are SO MANY SINGLE MOTHERS in LATIN AMERICA?? Think FOR A MOMENT. Just look at how OUR CULTURE behaves; and then you'll know the REAL TRUTH.

    I enjoy watching and hearing about other international couples talk about their learning experiences when the two cultures collide in a relationship. I married my beautiful wife who is from Mexico City almost three years ago. I love her dearly, and she's the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. It's definitely a learning experience. I think it helps a lot when both couples can communicate well with each other in at least one language. Unfortunately, when my wife and I got together, she hardly could speak English, and I was still at a low intermediate level in Spanish. So, that made things difficult, trying to understand each other and understand cultural differences on top of that. Luckily, if you have a lot of patience, love, respect, and a desire to understand, that's all you need to have a healthy relationship. I enjoyed the video.

Drifted away from my Mexican roots over the years and was raised speaking English. Met a real Latina who became my wife 20 years ago. Became reacquainted with my Mexican roots. Many vacations throughout Mexico home of my parents and grandparents. Enjoyed Mexico’s culture, food and music. Enjoyed listening to Pedro Infante, Joan Sebastian and Senora Dimanita. My Latina wife introduced me to lemons and limes. We use lemons at home for teas and daily fresh lemon juice. Limes are used in daily dishes and for disinfecting poultry. Lime juice is added to guacamole, salads, tacos, flautas, sopas, fresh fish and cold cerveza. Limes also add additional flavor to most seafoods, especially ceviche. Favorite dessert, lemon meringue.

    I grew up in California and my family culture was most like May’s except we all left home at 18 and we enjoyed pancakes with butter topped with bacon, eggs and topped with real maple syrup. Our daughter lived at home with us along with her boyfriend until she was 27 after they had finished college and were married. Now that we are older, she is selling her house and buying a house with room for us to live with them. It’s not common here in the US but we are very close and I think after living with us when they were younger, it makes sense for our family. AND WE NEVER LET THE ANIMALS EAT OFF OF OUR DISHES! GROSS.

    Thanks for this totally enjoyable and humorous video. You guys are so cute together. I remember hearing a funny story about how to get rid of an unwanted guest who doesn't get the hint that they have "overstayed" their welcome. After finishing your meal, make a point of letting your dog "lap the dishes clean" and then clearly let your "unwanted guest" observe you as you put the "freshly cleaned" dishes directly into your cupboards!😱🤣. This is guaranteed to get your "guest" to pack up and leave immediately. If it doesn't work you have got a serious problem. 🤣🤣🤣

    Really loved this video. First, really interesting to me from a language learning perspective! I knew that one could say either "te quiero" or "te amo" to express love but I never realized that there was a subtle nuance between the two in terms of the type or depth of love. This reminds me of something that I didn't know for quite some time when I began learning Spanish, and that was the difference between using "caer" versus "gustar" when expressing that you like someone or they like you. Also funny... the differences in the time to eat. When I was in Spain for about 6 weeks earlier this year, it didn't take me long to change up my eating habits to be more in line with theirs, because in many places the restaurants and shops are simply closed during siesta time in the afternoon, which can range from between 1:30 or 2:00 pm until 5:00 p.m. so you kinda have to adjust or starve.😊

    I found myself agreeing with May on several subjects. I was born and raised in US in the 60s by Mexican raised parents (although dad was also ½ Italian). Very conservative folks. I believe that led to positive lifestyle for myself and my own family. Although I love the US I don't like the constant push toward liberalism bcs it has led friends toward toxic lifestyles. And good for May... I agree, the US has blurred the "we're exclusive part" and it leads to much confusion and unhappiness especially for girls. In US women are constantly pushed to be liberal types... which really just devalues us as a person. (Easy come easy go...don't do it ladies...hold off!)

    • @gladysnajar2254
      @gladysnajar2254 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I’m a liberal, US Born, married to an American. Both parents very conservative. I am the bread winner, husband does not work due to illness. The old customs in my experience, Women were not allowed to drive, not allowed to work and then the men just go around cheating and the women are supposed to be all obeying. You want to know why women become liberal because Men no longer are the gentleman men the mothers raised. Mexican Women are fed up with this conservative culture. I still respect my parents religious views but I can’t respect when a priest tells a women in Mexico to stay married to a cheater or beater.

      @@gladysnajar2254 @Gladys Najar I'm sorry you have an ill husband and you have to be the main bread winner especially if he's not contributing in some way at home. The Bible tells us to be equally yoked. (It's why Christians recommend counseling before marriage...it helps point out character flaws and weeds out bad matches...such as cheaters). Unfortunately, love and attraction are not always enough past the honeymoon phase.
      Re liberalism, you are generalizing that all men are cheater...there are plenty of women who are cheaters too. I agree men and women deserve equal rights but women should not behave like men...to avoid getting used then be hateful toward all men.
      Unfortunately, when God was taken out of classroom morals went down the toilet...in both men and women (especially those without any Godley influences in the family). That's why we see so much dysfunctional lives.
      Personally, I would never stay or suggest that a woman stay with a man who cheats or beats her. I know I won't. Perhaps Catholic priest tell women to stay in such conditions...but being a Christian I go by the Bible not individuals. (The new Testament does permit divorce). I hope those women choose better men next time but studies show abused women choose abusive men types over and over.
      Lastly, liberalism is a losing ideology. Most of the Christian world is abandoning it bcs it's anti God, anti family, anti children, too close to communism (nobody wants to be controlled), it calls for no boundaries, consentual life styles, yet denies privacy and reject any opposing opinions. Sure doesn't sound appealing to me!

    • @misadventurebooks97

    This was by far most insightful video to ever come out on this channel that I have seen, and I must have seen most of your videos. Bravo, and thanks! I always wondered about the shoes inside the home thing. Living in cold countries like Canada and Russia, you definitely do not want to track mud and snow into anyone's home, taking shoes off is a must. And here we also have the same thing about avoiding freezing your feet (and catching a cold or worse) by changing into house slippers when we get home, and maybe bringing a pair of clean indoor shoes when we visit someone else's home and want to be fancy.
    I gotta say, though, letting pets eat out of human dishes is a HUGE no-no, and not just in Mexico. And there is a solid medical reason for keeping these things COMPLETELY separate, including the dish rags: there is a number of parasites and pathogens that dogs' and cats' systems can handle fine and are accustomed to, but human system is not.
