In 2008 i got knocked off my bike by a lady BMW car driver who stated she never saw me. I was in all black including my helmet and since then I've purchased a white helmet and a colourful jacket with fluorescent green bits. Over here most vloggers seem to be in dark clothing how refreshing to see you in a white ensemble. Being seen is now far more important to me than looking cool and it's nice to see you think the same.
Agree it’s strange how so many of us motorcyclists wear black and own dark colour bikes. I read once it’s part of a death wish , that just riding a motorcycle is part of a death wish . Last week I bought a cream and gray Rev it adventure Summer jacket with armoured inserts. But still have black riding pants and black helmer albeit with a reflective Honda sticker😊 Logically we should all be wearing fluro jacket and pants , with Yellow or white helmets. Plus a flag attached to the rear seat like in the old days. But how many of us do those things? I think there is an element of truth in the death wish theory ….maybe .
I don't ride without high vis jacket either standalone or helite air jacket - funny thing: even if you think it looks awful, you... don't see yourself - others do ;)
I just picked up a 2024 RP and have put just about enough miles on it for its first service, and you pretty much took the words out of my mouth multiple times in this video. Especially the bike’s versatility, and comparing to other bikes. I’ve had a sport bike, naked sport bike, Harley, dual sport, and proper dirt bike, and this bike is simply exceptional at how well it can do all the things. Of course, not as well as a bike made for a specific discipline, but it can do all of the disciplines exceptionally well (barring single track, I suppose). I’m head over heels for this bike, and it’s incredible how fun it is to take a highway out to a dirt road, and take the twisty canyon roads home. I did find the “angle indicator” on a peg well before getting as low as I would on a sport bike, but it’s good to remember that it’s not actually a sport bike, and I’ll just remove those next 😅
I have watched a few of your videos this weekend. All very well done and informative. I live in Canada. Have ridden Harleys for the last 25 years or more. But I am just kind of done with them. It seems like a lot work these days, at 60, to wheel out a 700 lb (325 kg) machine to go for a quick scoot downtown. Our local dealer has the Tiger 900 Rally and a BMW F800GS. The BMW is really all I need but I keep coming back to the Triumph. The main thing that holds me back is my lack of height. I am only 5'6" (168 cms). I am concerned the Tiger is simply too tall for me. Thanks for the vids!
Thanks for your comment. I totally understand your hesitation; as I say in the video, the Tiger is a big bike physically. At 168cm you are going to struggle, for sure🙁

I feel similar about my tiger too. I added barkbusters bar end weights and grip puppies to mine as well. And it helped a lot. Thanks for the tip. I have been thinking about getting a bigger windscreen. It gets a bit to windy at high speeds. Perhaps you can do a video on it if you decide to upgrade.
For the offroad-riding and the sharp angle of the fork... you need to adjust the suspension to offroad-setting. Its very easy and its described in the manual. With this change you change to angle of the fork to an offroad-focused angle that is almost 27°
Thanks again for another thoughtful review of the Tiger 900…I again concur with you-it’s just a beautiful beast from the inside out…yes, definitely more function than form, but, at 67 years of age-far more realistic on numerous levels…many pluses of which you shared in the video…I recently sold my tricked-out Speedmaster and have been slowly adjusting to parting with it with the help of some time-release-quaaludes 🤪😅 Suggestion; you may want to invest in a Givi(out of Italy)windscreen…the one I’d purchased is roughly 30% larger than the stock screen…and for me, that was just right. If you want to truly enhance the intoxicating sound of that triple motor, I would suggest the Scorpion Exhaust(slip-on)out of the UK…the Tiger now yowls like a road rager on ‘roids as it runs through the jungle, only WITHOUT giving all your neighbors a free foot massage as you depart from your home, translated, not obnoxious, just the perfect note/tone as you gleefully quick-shift through the gears. Look forward to seeing/hearing some of your additional commentary down the road(yes, pun intended).
I love this channel. I picked up my 2024 Rally Pro a week ago and absolutely love it. Already in the shop for its 600-mile service. Agreed the display is laggy as hell, and I've all but given up on using the bluetooth connectivity with my Sena. But those things aside, what a package. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
I have the 2024 GTP and agree with your assessment of the 900 platform. One thing not mentioned is the quick shifter, I find it one of the best I've tried on any bike and just about as good as what's on a Yamaha. Unlike you I have still kept my other Triumph, a 2022 T120. It's just such a great looking bike and so easy to ride. On connectivity, let's face it. No manufacturer that has proprietary software does it right. I wish Triumph and others would just follow Honda's lead and use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That works!
Not an ADV rider (had a Strom for a bit ... never clicked with it), but I like your stories and analysis. One think I especially like is that you convert measurements for those of us in the US. 🙂 ✌

I ride a 2022 MT09, I love this bike but I live in a really windy area and it gets pretty cold. So I started looking into the tiger 900 gt. I mainly use the bike to commute, all the comfort it has would be nice on winter and also on weekends when I do long day trips. My knee usually hurts after a bit over an hr on the MT-09. But I saw the tiger in person and it looks crazy long. So I'm undecided, I'm waiting to see if there will be a tiger 660 rally announced with cruise control and all. If there isn't and they update the Honda Transalp with tubeless and Quickshifter then I'll either get the Transalp or the tiger 900. But maybe the Transalp if it is a bit smaller to make it easier to commute.
Nice review, I ride a varadero 1000 as my everyday vehicle in the UK for work pleasure etc and I'm looking for something. New as it's now got 65000 miles after 6 years of riding it and each winter takes its toll so I'm looking at one of these as a replacement, thank you for the honest review
Very good video indeed and perhaps I am slightly biased as I am a limey living in Canada. I just sold my Norden 901 as my wife (American) and I are seriously looking to move to Arizona for the climate and some family being there and I would not be able to take the Norden with me. I am already looking at another adventure bike and I think it will between the Norden Expedition of the 900 RP. Living in SW Alberta I am very close to good off road trails along with the mountains to see and I am not sure what kind of terrain there is SW of Phoenix hence me looking into the TP for more road capabilities with some off road. Love southern Portugal where I went when I was 16 to the Algarve 46 years ago. Looks like some great roads to ride on. Cheers, and subscribed :)
I’ve had my rally pro for 3 months now only problem I’ve had is the rear brake buzzes when I use it on its own at slow speeds As for the blue tooth connectivity I have no problem works fine just have to work it out once you do it connects perfectly
Good assessment of the bike. I really enjoyed it. If you do want to do a bit more off-road. Stiffen up the preload on the front suspension and slacken off on the rear. It changes the geometry enough to feel a lot better. It’s what Triumph do on their experience bikes.

Excellent review and great points. I’ve ridden the earlier version in the US and loved it. Even with my 5’8” stature and 75kg weight I didn’t find the weight overly bad (unlike my ATAS DCT ES). I was staggered by its top gear roll on from barely 2,000 rpm. I tried one in the UK but immediately noticed the buzz through the bars which the T plane crank induces. I’m guessing not an issue on yours? I have a KTM 890 adventure which is a nice machine in many ways but comfort is not among its attributes. I keep coming back to the Tiger……
The AT is very top heavy. I agree the KTM is not the best in terms of comfort, but great engine. The Tiger ticks all - well, most of the boxes for me. Ride safe😊
Great video RM! I got my 24 RP a while back now and have enjoyed breaking it in. I am coming from an FZ/MT-09 and I get the “cool factor” maybe being gone to an extent and I am only in my 20s 😅. But in reality the Tiger does everything my Yamaha did, better (as it should for the cost). Except maybe a little bit of handling when going fast and “cool factor” for some. I’ve done track days and I’ve done touring. I have really enjoyed just exploring backroads and going the distance on new journeys and a little off road gravel riding here and there somewhat limited my confidence on my Yamaha. My Tiger is a new chapter I am excited to continue with!
Great video and I agree with most points. I would add that I am quite annoyed at the incessant warnings on the display; fuel is low, TPS warnings of low tire pressure. I have the same tank bag and am curious of how you modified it? I tried loosening the bolts so it slides on the ring but the bolts loosen and fall out. Thanks for all the vids.
Great video, RM! I love hearing your impressions and feedback. I too sold my Speed Twin and do miss that torquey motor. But the Yamaha Tracer 9GT I purchased offers more practicality and more options for the trips I have been taking. So far the only real negative on the Yamaha is seat comfort. The build quality isn't quite on par with Triumph, but nothing that would convince me I made a bad decision. Though I do miss having a Triumph.
Thanks for the vid! Informative and structured as always. In addition to this “lack of gut torque of speed twin” topic. Did you try Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC/XE(better before 2024). I found it for myself as better soulmate than the new Tiger 900. Same suspension, better torque and engine feel overall, excellent handling, much simpler yet informative enough display which also significantly faster, has all bells and whistles like on Tiger. The two obvious downside is wind protection which for me wasn’t fixed even with tallest available windshield. And this high-mount exhaust which for my taste absolutely fine in all case except standing in the city traffic in the middle of the summer:). But speed twin was not better either. Previously I own same Speed Twin as you are. Then go to Street Triple 765 R but lack of torque and comfort bring me showroom again. And with Tiger 900 in mind I occasionally test drive Scrambler 1200 XC 2023 and so far it’s my bike of choice(test drive them both).
@@RocketMan_Moto totally understand. I’m from Lithuania, and here we don’t have a lot of highways mostly twisty country roads where 90-110kmh optimal speed where wind is manageable for me.
HI Rocketman, spring is around the corner and so is new bike time! I've never had a Tiger and I think it's time I give one a try. I've got 30 years + of riding experience, so I'm not worried about bike size or weight. Would you recommend the 1200 or the 900 for primarily road riding? I know the GT is the primary road option, but I just love the 1200 Rally Pro in khaki green! Should I just go for it or should I consider one of the other tiger options. Love the shaft drive!
I’m very happy with my 900 RP in khaki green and, although I’d quite fancy another 40hp, I don’t really want the extra weight or cost (+€6,000) of the 1200. I’m also not really a fan of shaft drive: they’re heavy, expensive and mechanically inefficient compared to chains. I say get a 900 and spend the money you save on fuel, accessories and hotels, and enjoy😊
Thanks @rocketman ! My dealer only has a red GT Pro at the moment. I'm trying to recall your comments about the 900 GT Pro and the Rally Pro so please correct me if I'm wrong. Did you say that the road handling differences between the two are negligible? Did you also say that the brakes and suspension on the rally pro felt slightly upspec? My dealer does have a 2024 900RP demo bike with 2000km for a great bargain...grey with orange.
The demo RP is a 2024 with 3200 km in ash grey (grey with orange....looks good!). Comes with free panniers (current triumph promotion) and full warranty.
Correct. Handling differences are negligible, at least at the speeds I ride, and although the electronic suspension on the GT seems more sophisticated, both I and my dealer prefer the greater comfort afforded by the RP’s greater travel.
I would love to hear your opinion of the Husqvarna Norden 900 compared to the Tiger 900. If you have a dealer close by, please make a review :) keep up the good work.
@@Pebbzor I have also tried the givi, it's bigger and wider but I think it's to much. I drop the bike once and the screen broke touching the ground. I prefer the wrs, isn't Gona break doing offroad
I had a tiger 800 and was quite happy with it. But gutless and I removed top engine bolt to fit crash bars.All the threads came out with the bolt. Totally stripped threads. Triumph said it happens regular just stick bolts in with loctite. That's what we do. I did better. Traded for a versy 1000 😂 Went to see dealer when 900 came out he said still gutless. Glad it meets your requirements! I'm always 2 up. I'm chunky 145kg n other half nearly same. But our vfr800 copes 24years old.

For me it's the versatility which is the big ticket item with these bikes. I had higher rated springs and fork valves installed on my transalp by a suspension specialist for about $1700 AUD and with hand guards, bash plate , taller screen and a few other odds and sods the TA ended up costing me about $19000 AUD or about 11,400€. I probably won't get any of that back when I sell the TA and I'd imagine the Triumph might hold its value better.
Not so sure, I got more for my Transalp than I’d paid for it, thanks to the extras I’d fitted. But the Portuguese haven’t really grasped the concept of depreciation… 🥰

Cabo da Roca and the Arabida national park near Lisbon, then any of the small roads in the Algarve hills around Silves and Monchique (Foia gives you a view of almost the whole of the Algarve coast from up high) and finally the Benagil caves (see best location for these in the description of this video). I was going to buy a Speed Twin but decided to save some money and get an old Tiger 800 roadie for a while instead. Honestly I love it. It has really surprised me.
I think your assessment is spot on, very well thought out. In some way, it matches mine. Although I do not love any bike with a high center of gravity, which most likely applies to your Triumph Tiger as well. After I recognized that and the fact that all I really liked about my good, old trusty Yamaha XT 600 E was the upright riding position with the relaxed knee angle, but not much else, I was willing to make a compromise. Which the Tracer 700 basically is. After my mods, it fulfills the point of a very relaxed riding position. I still prefer the looks of my husband's Ténéré. But after trying to climb on it, it was a crystal clear "no" for me. I love being able to maneuver around my little tourer, being able to store all of the camping gear I need (and some I might not need so much) on it, the weather protection. I know if I absolutely wanted, I could add a skid plate and an oil cooler protector, but for what? The most offroad this bike will ever see are well-groomed gravel lanes on campsites. You must go very slow on these anyway, so I see no need to add this additional weight. So yes, my bike is a compromise, but one I am very happy with.
I went on a 1-hour test ride for the Tiger 900 and thought the bike was not "special enough". I missed the low rev torque from my T120 and was happy to jump back on my bike. The vibrations at high revs annoyed me and overall the lack of power at lower revs. I'm waiting for the 2025 Speed Twin 1200 RS to see what that bike is. Cheers!
Another excellent video. Question though: I recall from an earlier video the reasons why you chose the Rally Pro over the GT Pro, but wonder if you’ve reconsidered? It seems the Rally Pro doesn’t handle great off-road and you barely ride there anyway. Would the GT Pro be appreciably worse? And I know the Rally Pro handles fine on-road with the 21” front, but I have a hard time believing the 19” isn’t at least marginally better there. You certainly have more tire options. Thoughts?
I don’t go off road that often, but I really like having the option to do so. I found the GT poor off road and so ‘had to’ choose the RP. Also, as I’m quite tall, the RP gives me that extra bit of height👍😊

I did try the Tracer, and while it does have a fabulous engine, I’m not a fan of the looks, or the fit & finish. Also, I do enjoy having the option of going off road now & then.
@@RocketMan_Moto Yeah, the looks are not really to my taste either. I loved Gen1, but not the current one, especially the one with the twin dash. The fit and finish also went backwards on Gen 3 bikes. Gen 4 MT has improved again.
If the 900/2024 software follows the same logic of the 900/2023 the activation of the service interval on the menu shows the odometer on the same tray swiping to the right
@RocketMan_Moto sir, the wet weight of the bike is 228 kg, so you mean to say the total would be 228+220 is the weight on the axle? I got my bike straight from the showroom a week back after selling my Speed twin 1200, and then I rode 3000km with my friend and our luggage😬 Hence asking hoping dat i didn't screw it up...
About the weight difference to the KTM Adventure 890R: the 30kgs may come from the stupid data KTM gives to customers (Ducati does that aswell)... The around 200kg are without any fuel and oil! Filled up they weigh about the same. Ps nice vid, I love my 24' Tig. 900 GT PRO :)
I’m looking to buy the new Tiger RP but I’ll be adding it to my Triumph T120. I just can’t sell that bike! It’s too special. It truly seems like the RP is the way to go. After looking at about 6 competitors, the Tiger wins hands down.
I wish I could have kept my Speed Twin. It is/was a very special bike, but I just wasn’t using it. You may well sell your T120 after a few months with the Tiger. It just does everything🤷♂️

100% my own voice. I was born in East Yorkshire, but left the UK after university in the mid-1980s, so my English is effectively 40 years old. Maybe that’s why I sound a bit ‘artificial’?😊

I just sold my 2022 Norden 901 as my wife and I are seriously thinking of moving to Arizona where there is no snow to shovel and I could ride a bike pretty much year round. I am seriously looking at the TP as my next adventure bike and I thoroughly enjoyed your excellent video, first class!
The Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro has a 24.4 degree front fork rake and it's meant for gravel toads/ light offloading. My '24 Kawasaki Versys 1000 has a 27 degree front rake and it's NOT meant for offloading. How do we reconcile this? You would think that both of these bikes should have the opposite rake! The tiger had a 61.1" wheelbase and the Versys has a 59.8" wheelbase...perhaps the rake was increased to get the Versys to a more highway oriented wheelbase, but I don't understand why they wouldn't just lengthen the frame or swingarm. The Tiger, on the other hand, could have lost an inch or two on the wheelbase to extend the rake angle. These are the ins and outs of product development that I just don't understand that well.
Neither do I, to be perfectly honest. All I know is that the Tiger is one of the best handling 21-front-wheel adventure bikes I’ve tried on the road and that’s why I bought it😊
@@RocketMan_Moto i think triumph know that these bikes are staying on tarmac primarily.hence the steering rake that everybody gets upset about.its a comprimise and weighted towards the road!
Agreed. But you would think that road spec GT's brakes and suspension would be the same spec as the Rally Pro, albeit with less suspension travel. But they're lesser quality?

I have exactly the same bike as you and my biggest complain is the random cluncky downshift from 3 to 2 using the quickshifter, sometimes it's beautiful smooth and sometimes I get a clunk. How is your downshifting from 3 to 2 using the quickshifter? Other than that I'm quite satisfied with my '24 Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Cheers from The Netherlands
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks. The QS on my bike is also the best I ever had, only the downshift from 3 to 2 is once in a while a bit cluncky, but not always. Upshifts are perfect, even from 1 to 2.
@RocketMan_Moto £14,800 vs £16,470 in the uk. So less than £2k difference. I configured a F900GS to cost more than the R1300GS it Is possible. And also a bit surprising.
Great video. I actually think the tft lag is just unacceptable really. That could have been solved by triumph with $$$. It’s such an integral part of the bike… now the UX is something they can fix… again, hire an expert to get it done.

Lol, impossible question. I can’t see any reason to change the Tiger, but if my situation were different (wealth, location…), it would be lovely to have half a dozen bikes in my garage. The best one from each category…😊

I just picked up a 24 Tiger 900 GT Pro and I find the bike feels very tiny and light. Reminds me of riding a dirt bike with a big engine. But then my other bike is a Victory Vision and that is heavy and massive. At 66 I find the windshield way too small and causes a lot of wind noise in my helmet. I also find the display very slow and poorly designed. There is a lot of wasted space with a round speedo and tach in a rectangular display. And they don’t understand what information a rider wants displayed. Almost like a none biker designed the display . Don’t get me wrong I really like the bike but a nice speedo and bar-graph tach running up the left side and across the top would look much better. Then have gas gauge and temp gauge across the bottom displayed at all times.
Another great video. As a fellow 2024 rally pro owner, I agree almost completely. The one area where my experience differs a little on is the weight. Yes the Tiger is 228kg bike, but having come from a supposedly svelte Tenere 700 at 204kg, I find the Tiger easier to move around the garage and ride at low speeds. I’ve come to the conclusion that weight figures don’t really tell you much - what matters is where the weight is, and the Tiger’s weight is lower down than the Tenere. This is the same reason the 890R feels more manageable again.
Interesting. I guess it’s all relative. I came from the very light Transalp, so the Tiger feels bulky. But you’re right, the Tenere does carry its weight very high. Thanks for your input👍😊
I must be one of the few that thought it was a smart move to sell both bikes.. I had a fabulous Speed Twin which I moved on to buy my current Guzzi and don't regret it at all..I didn't buy the Tiger 900 purely because of its shear size price and I didn't want all that tech my Guzzi was 4k less.! And..I can service it at home which the Triumph isn't really quite as do'able..
To be fair, quite a few viewers did get my reasoning. As I said, the Speed Twin is fabulous, but ultimately not particularly usable. The V7 is an excellent choice, and much more reasonably priced than the Tiger. Ride safe👍😊
Good vid, thanks. Triumph are awful at screens. I think they get them from Fischer-Price. You must be one of the few people that think cruisers are 'cool'. A statement that is a reflexive contradiction. Harley riders (especially) are either dyed in the wool reactionaries or dentists - or both.....either way: tropical
Hi I don’t know why you complain about the rake , the bike handles very well off-road. If you prefer you can rake it out (read the manual,if you go off the tarmac). I would recommend you to take a course (off-road), so you could learn how to handle it better. When you live in south Portugal you have a lot of possibilities to go and explore. You don’t know what you’re missing.(I can recommend Triumph adventure in Málaga ).
I do most of my off-roading in groups. I don’t want to be asking my mates to wait for me to adjust the suspension every time we join and leave a gravel track. I’m just pointing out that other bikes don’t require this. Triumph Adventure is very good👍
And I am just pointing out that you can rake it out (because you are complaining about the rake). And when you don’t do much off road, you won’t feel it anyway. Anyway enjoy the bike. 😀
Did Mrs RM go on the ST1200 much with you? Would like to do a bit more 2 up riding with the wife on back, be nice to get out for a couple of hours together at the weekend.
We tried it a couple of times, but it didn’t really work. There’s not much room for her, even though she’s quite tiny, and the throttle response and no ‘backrest’ meant she didn’t feel very secure. She much prefers the Tiger.

@@RocketMan_Moto no no, the voice is fine, and everything is great 90% of the time, but when you speak in a very low tone vocal fry starts to appear and its distracting. speaking in a slightly higher note makes it sound more melodic and cursive, going down low makes the voice start to fry. theres tons of examples of what i mean on youtube if u search 'vocal fry. cheers

I was in all black including my helmet and since then I've purchased a white helmet and a colourful jacket with fluorescent green bits. Over here most vloggers seem to be in dark clothing how refreshing to see you in a white ensemble. Being seen is now far more important to me than looking cool and it's nice to see you think the same.
All my helmets are white both for that extra visibility and for the heat reflecting abilities👍😊
Agree it’s strange how so many of us motorcyclists wear black and own dark colour bikes.
I read once it’s part of a death wish , that just riding a motorcycle is part of a death wish .
Last week I bought a cream and gray Rev it adventure Summer jacket with armoured inserts.
But still have black riding pants and black helmer albeit with a reflective Honda sticker😊
Logically we should all be wearing fluro jacket and pants , with Yellow or white helmets.
Plus a flag attached to the rear seat like in the old days.
But how many of us do those things?
I think there is an element of truth in the death wish theory ….maybe .
I don't ride without high vis jacket either standalone or helite air jacket - funny thing: even if you think it looks awful, you... don't see yourself - others do ;)
I just picked up a 2024 RP and have put just about enough miles on it for its first service, and you pretty much took the words out of my mouth multiple times in this video. Especially the bike’s versatility, and comparing to other bikes. I’ve had a sport bike, naked sport bike, Harley, dual sport, and proper dirt bike, and this bike is simply exceptional at how well it can do all the things. Of course, not as well as a bike made for a specific discipline, but it can do all of the disciplines exceptionally well (barring single track, I suppose). I’m head over heels for this bike, and it’s incredible how fun it is to take a highway out to a dirt road, and take the twisty canyon roads home. I did find the “angle indicator” on a peg well before getting as low as I would on a sport bike, but it’s good to remember that it’s not actually a sport bike, and I’ll just remove those next 😅

I have watched a few of your videos this weekend. All very well done and informative. I live in Canada. Have ridden Harleys for the last 25 years or more. But I am just kind of done with them. It seems like a lot work these days, at 60, to wheel out a 700 lb (325 kg) machine to go for a quick scoot downtown. Our local dealer has the Tiger 900 Rally and a BMW F800GS. The BMW is really all I need but I keep coming back to the Triumph. The main thing that holds me back is my lack of height. I am only 5'6" (168 cms). I am concerned the Tiger is simply too tall for me. Thanks for the vids!

Try the 900 GT Pro..seat can be adjusted or get the low seat…better bike than the 800GS imho..

I feel similar about my tiger too. I added barkbusters bar end weights and grip puppies to mine as well. And it helped a lot. Thanks for the tip. I have been thinking about getting a bigger windscreen. It gets a bit to windy at high speeds. Perhaps you can do a video on it if you decide to upgrade.

For the offroad-riding and the sharp angle of the fork... you need to adjust the suspension to offroad-setting. Its very easy and its described in the manual.
With this change you change to angle of the fork to an offroad-focused angle that is almost 27°
Yes, I do this when riding alone, but having to ask my mates to wait while I do it every time we go on/off road is annoying🤔
Thanks again for another thoughtful review of the Tiger 900…I again concur with you-it’s just a beautiful beast from the inside out…yes, definitely more function than form, but, at 67 years of age-far more realistic on numerous levels…many pluses of which you shared in the video…I recently sold my tricked-out Speedmaster and have been slowly adjusting to parting with it with the help of some time-release-quaaludes 🤪😅
Suggestion; you may want to invest in a Givi(out of Italy)windscreen…the one I’d purchased is roughly 30% larger than the stock screen…and for me, that was just right.
If you want to truly enhance the intoxicating sound of that triple motor, I would suggest the Scorpion Exhaust(slip-on)out of the UK…the Tiger now yowls like a road rager on ‘roids as it runs through the jungle, only WITHOUT giving all your neighbors a free foot massage as you depart from your home, translated, not obnoxious, just the perfect note/tone as you gleefully quick-shift through the gears.
Look forward to seeing/hearing some of your additional commentary down the road(yes, pun intended).

I love this channel. I picked up my 2024 Rally Pro a week ago and absolutely love it. Already in the shop for its 600-mile service. Agreed the display is laggy as hell, and I've all but given up on using the bluetooth connectivity with my Sena. But those things aside, what a package. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

I have the 2024 GTP and agree with your assessment of the 900 platform. One thing not mentioned is the quick shifter, I find it one of the best I've tried on any bike and just about as good as what's on a Yamaha. Unlike you I have still kept my other Triumph, a 2022 T120. It's just such a great looking bike and so easy to ride. On connectivity, let's face it. No manufacturer that has proprietary software does it right. I wish Triumph and others would just follow Honda's lead and use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That works!

I ride a 2022 MT09, I love this bike but I live in a really windy area and it gets pretty cold. So I started looking into the tiger 900 gt. I mainly use the bike to commute, all the comfort it has would be nice on winter and also on weekends when I do long day trips. My knee usually hurts after a bit over an hr on the MT-09. But I saw the tiger in person and it looks crazy long. So I'm undecided, I'm waiting to see if there will be a tiger 660 rally announced with cruise control and all. If there isn't and they update the Honda Transalp with tubeless and Quickshifter then I'll either get the Transalp or the tiger 900. But maybe the Transalp if it is a bit smaller to make it easier to commute.
The Transalp is definitely more ‘petite’ than the Tiger
Nice review, I ride a varadero 1000 as my everyday vehicle in the UK for work pleasure etc and I'm looking for something. New as it's now got 65000 miles after 6 years of riding it and each winter takes its toll so I'm looking at one of these as a replacement, thank you for the honest review

Very good video indeed and perhaps I am slightly biased as I am a limey living in Canada. I just sold my Norden 901 as my wife (American) and I are seriously looking to move to Arizona for the climate and some family being there and I would not be able to take the Norden with me. I am already looking at another adventure bike and I think it will between the Norden Expedition of the 900 RP. Living in SW Alberta I am very close to good off road trails along with the mountains to see and I am not sure what kind of terrain there is SW of Phoenix hence me looking into the TP for more road capabilities with some off road.

I’ve had my rally pro for 3 months now only problem I’ve had is the rear brake buzzes when I use it on its own at slow speeds
As for the blue tooth connectivity I have no problem works fine just have to work it out once you do it connects perfectly

Good assessment of the bike. I really enjoyed it. If you do want to do a bit more off-road. Stiffen up the preload on the front suspension and slacken off on the rear. It changes the geometry enough to feel a lot better. It’s what Triumph do on their experience bikes.

Excellent review and great points. I’ve ridden the earlier version in the US and loved it. Even with my 5’8” stature and 75kg weight I didn’t find the weight overly bad (unlike my ATAS DCT ES). I was staggered by its top gear roll on from barely 2,000 rpm. I tried one in the UK but immediately noticed the buzz through the bars which the T plane crank induces. I’m guessing not an issue on yours? I have a KTM 890 adventure which is a nice machine in many ways but comfort is not among its attributes. I keep coming back to the Tiger……
The AT is very top heavy. I agree the KTM is not the best in terms of comfort, but great engine. The Tiger ticks all - well, most of the boxes for me. Ride safe😊
Great video RM! I got my 24 RP a while back now and have enjoyed breaking it in. I am coming from an FZ/MT-09 and I get the “cool factor” maybe being gone to an extent and I am only in my 20s 😅. But in reality the Tiger does everything my Yamaha did, better (as it should for the cost). Except maybe a little bit of handling when going fast and “cool factor” for some. I’ve done track days and I’ve done touring. I have really enjoyed just exploring backroads and going the distance on new journeys and a little off road gravel riding here and there somewhat limited my confidence on my Yamaha. My Tiger is a new chapter I am excited to continue with!

Great video and I agree with most points. I would add that I am quite annoyed at the incessant warnings on the display; fuel is low, TPS warnings of low tire pressure. I have the same tank bag and am curious of how you modified it? I tried loosening the bolts so it slides on the ring but the bolts loosen and fall out. Thanks for all the vids.

Great video, RM! I love hearing your impressions and feedback. I too sold my Speed Twin and do miss that torquey motor. But the Yamaha Tracer 9GT I purchased offers more practicality and more options for the trips I have been taking. So far the only real negative on the Yamaha is seat comfort. The build quality isn't quite on par with Triumph, but nothing that would convince me I made a bad decision. Though I do miss having a Triumph.
I hear you. As I said in the video, the Speed Twin is awesome, but not very useful. A Tiger or Tracer is just so much more ‘go anywhere’👍😊

In addition to this “lack of gut torque of speed twin” topic. Did you try Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC/XE(better before 2024). I found it for myself as better soulmate than the new Tiger 900.
Same suspension, better torque and engine feel overall, excellent handling, much simpler yet informative enough display which also significantly faster, has all bells and whistles like on Tiger.
The two obvious downside is wind protection which for me wasn’t fixed even with tallest available windshield. And this high-mount exhaust which for my taste absolutely fine in all case except standing in the city traffic in the middle of the summer:). But speed twin was not better either.
Previously I own same Speed Twin as you are. Then go to Street Triple 765 R but lack of torque and comfort bring me showroom again. And with Tiger 900 in mind I occasionally test drive Scrambler 1200 XC 2023 and so far it’s my bike of choice(test drive them both).

Rocketman, spring is around the corner and so is new bike time! I've never had a Tiger and I think it's time I give one a try. I've got 30 years + of riding experience, so I'm not worried about bike size or weight. Would you recommend the 1200 or the 900 for primarily road riding? I know the GT is the primary road option, but I just love the 1200 Rally Pro in khaki green! Should I just go for it or should I consider one of the other tiger options. Love the shaft drive!
I’m very happy with my 900 RP in khaki green and, although I’d quite fancy another 40hp, I don’t really want the extra weight or cost (+€6,000) of the 1200. I’m also not really a fan of shaft drive: they’re heavy, expensive and mechanically inefficient compared to chains. I say get a 900 and spend the money you save on fuel, accessories and hotels, and enjoy😊
Thanks @rocketman ! My dealer only has a red GT Pro at the moment. I'm trying to recall your comments about the 900 GT Pro and the Rally Pro so please correct me if I'm wrong. Did you say that the road handling differences between the two are negligible? Did you also say that the brakes and suspension on the rally pro felt slightly upspec? My dealer does have a 2024 900RP demo bike with 2000km for a great bargain...grey with orange.
The demo RP is a 2024 with 3200 km in ash grey (grey with orange....looks good!). Comes with free panniers (current triumph promotion) and full warranty.
Correct. Handling differences are negligible, at least at the speeds I ride, and although the electronic suspension on the GT seems more sophisticated, both I and my dealer prefer the greater comfort afforded by the RP’s greater travel.

@@rosario2gamer I get quite a lot of wind on the shoulders. I’ll see if the barkbusters can mitigate that. Otherwise a new screen could be an option.
I had a tiger 800 and was quite happy with it. But gutless and I removed top engine bolt to fit crash bars.All the threads came out with the bolt. Totally stripped threads. Triumph said it happens regular just stick bolts in with loctite. That's what we do. I did better. Traded for a versy 1000 😂
Went to see dealer when 900 came out he said still gutless.

For me it's the versatility which is the big ticket item with these bikes. I had higher rated springs and fork valves installed on my transalp by a suspension specialist for about $1700 AUD and with hand guards, bash plate , taller screen and a few other odds and sods the TA ended up costing me about $19000 AUD or about 11,400€. I probably won't get any of that back when I sell the TA and I'd imagine the Triumph might hold its value better.
Not so sure, I got more for my Transalp than I’d paid for it, thanks to the extras I’d fitted. But the Portuguese haven’t really grasped the concept of depreciation… 🥰

Cabo da Roca and the Arabida national park near Lisbon, then any of the small roads in the Algarve hills around Silves and Monchique (Foia gives you a view of almost the whole of the Algarve coast from up high) and finally the Benagil caves (see best location for these in the description of this video). No, it’s not that too heavy? I can’t feel a major difference for when the tank is full or empty. On the Versys it was definitely noticeable.
I was going to buy a Speed Twin but decided to save some money and get an old Tiger 800 roadie for a while instead. Honestly I love it. It has really surprised me.

What about handle bar or foot peg vibrations? Did not hear you mention them? Really big on my list along with fueling which you said is spot on.

I think your assessment is spot on, very well thought out. In some way, it matches mine. Although I do not love any bike with a high center of gravity, which most likely applies to your Triumph Tiger as well. After I recognized that and the fact that all I really liked about my good, old trusty Yamaha XT 600 E was the upright riding position with the relaxed knee angle, but not much else, I was willing to make a compromise. Which the Tracer 700 basically is. After my mods, it fulfills the point of a very relaxed riding position. I still prefer the looks of my husband's Ténéré. But after trying to climb on it, it was a crystal clear "no" for me. I love being able to maneuver around my little tourer, being able to store all of the camping gear I need (and some I might not need so much) on it, the weather protection. I know if I absolutely wanted, I could add a skid plate and an oil cooler protector, but for what? The most offroad this bike will ever see are well-groomed gravel lanes on campsites. You must go very slow on these anyway, so I see no need to add this additional weight. So yes, my bike is a compromise, but one I am very happy with.

I went on a 1-hour test ride for the Tiger 900 and thought the bike was not "special enough". I missed the low rev torque from my T120 and was happy to jump back on my bike. The vibrations at high revs annoyed me and overall the lack of power at lower revs. I'm waiting for the 2025 Speed Twin 1200 RS to see what that bike is. Cheers!

Another excellent video. Question though: I recall from an earlier video the reasons why you chose the Rally Pro over the GT Pro, but wonder if you’ve reconsidered?
It seems the Rally Pro doesn’t handle great off-road and you barely ride there anyway. Would the GT Pro be appreciably worse? And I know the Rally Pro handles fine on-road with the 21” front, but I have a hard time believing the 19” isn’t at least marginally better there. You certainly have more tire options.

I don’t go off road that often, but I really like having the option to do so. I found the GT poor off road and so ‘had to’ choose the RP. Also, as I’m quite tall, the RP gives me that extra bit of height👍😊

I did try the Tracer, and while it does have a fabulous engine, I’m not a fan of the looks, or the fit & finish. Also, I do enjoy having the option of going off road now & then.
@@RocketMan_Moto Yeah, the looks are not really to my taste either. I loved Gen1, but not the current one, especially the one with the twin dash. The fit and finish also went backwards on Gen 3 bikes. Gen 4 MT has improved again.
If the 900/2024 software follows the same logic of the 900/2023 the activation of the service interval on the menu shows the odometer on the same tray swiping to the right
It’s similar but the pre-2024 screen also shows the total mileage for a few seconds when you start the bike.

About the weight difference to the KTM Adventure 890R: the 30kgs may come from the stupid data KTM gives to customers (Ducati does that aswell)... The around 200kg are without any fuel and oil! Filled up they weigh about the same.

I’m looking to buy the new Tiger RP but I’ll be adding it to my Triumph T120. I just can’t sell that bike! It’s too special. It truly seems like the RP is the way to go. After looking at about 6 competitors, the Tiger wins hands down.
I wish I could have kept my Speed Twin. It is/was a very special bike, but I just wasn’t using it. You may well sell your T120 after a few months with the Tiger. It just does everything🤷♂️

I just sold my 2022 Norden 901 as my wife and I are seriously thinking of moving to Arizona where there is no snow to shovel and I could ride a bike pretty much year round. I am seriously looking at the TP as my next adventure bike and I thoroughly enjoyed your excellent video, first class!
The Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro has a 24.4 degree front fork rake and it's meant for gravel toads/ light offloading. My '24 Kawasaki Versys 1000 has a 27 degree front rake and it's NOT meant for offloading. How do we reconcile this? You would think that both of these bikes should have the opposite rake! The tiger had a 61.1" wheelbase and the Versys has a 59.8" wheelbase...perhaps the rake was increased to get the Versys to a more highway oriented wheelbase, but I don't understand why they wouldn't just lengthen the frame or swingarm. The Tiger, on the other hand, could have lost an inch or two on the wheelbase to extend the rake angle. These are the ins and outs of product development that I just don't understand that well.
Neither do I, to be perfectly honest. All I know is that the Tiger is one of the best handling 21-front-wheel adventure bikes I’ve tried on the road and that’s why I bought it😊
@@RocketMan_Moto i think triumph know that these bikes are staying on tarmac primarily.hence the steering rake that everybody gets upset about.its a comprimise and weighted towards the road!

I have exactly the same bike as you and my biggest complain is the random cluncky downshift from 3 to 2 using the quickshifter, sometimes it's beautiful smooth and sometimes I get a clunk. How is your downshifting from 3 to 2 using the quickshifter?
Other than that I'm quite satisfied with my '24 Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

I can’t say I have any problem with the quickshifter. It’s one of the smoothest I’ve tried on any bike.
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks. The QS on my bike is also the best I ever had, only the downshift from 3 to 2 is once in a while a bit cluncky, but not always. Upshifts are perfect, even from 1 to 2.

My quick shifter is very clunky up and down from 1-3 … I don’t use it very often as it sounds like it will damage the gear dogs over time.

@RocketMan_Moto £14,800 vs £16,470 in the uk. So less than £2k difference. I configured a F900GS to cost more than the R1300GS it Is possible. And also a bit surprising.
I think the bike is light. But I’m used to a Versys 1000. This one is about 40kg lighter!

I like the motorcycle. What I don't like, there are cases on the Internet that the frame is cracked.

Great video. I actually think the tft lag is just unacceptable really. That could have been solved by triumph with $$$. It’s such an integral part of the bike… now the UX is something they can fix… again, hire an expert to get it done.

Lol, impossible question. I can’t see any reason to change the Tiger, but if my situation were different (wealth, location…), it would be lovely to have half a dozen bikes in my garage. The best one from each category…😊

I just picked up a 24 Tiger 900 GT Pro and I find the bike feels very tiny and light. Reminds me of riding a dirt bike with a big engine. But then my other bike is a Victory Vision and that is heavy and massive. At 66 I find the windshield way too small and causes a lot of wind noise in my helmet. I also find the display very slow and poorly designed. There is a lot of wasted space with a round speedo and tach in a rectangular display. And they don’t understand what information a rider wants displayed. Almost like a none biker designed the display .
Don’t get me wrong I really like the bike but a nice speedo and bar-graph tach running up the left side and across the top would look much better. Then have gas gauge and temp gauge across the bottom displayed at all times.
Agree about the wasted space. I always ‘add’ the fuel status by pressing the button on the throttle.
Ktm is 30kg lighter because it lists dry weight. Ktm is actually about 215kg. But does carry weight low

Another great video. As a fellow 2024 rally pro owner, I agree almost completely. The one area where my experience differs a little on is the weight. Yes the Tiger is 228kg bike, but having come from a supposedly svelte Tenere 700 at 204kg, I find the Tiger easier to move around the garage and ride at low speeds. I’ve come to the conclusion that weight figures don’t really tell you much - what matters is where the weight is, and the Tiger’s weight is lower down than the Tenere. This is the same reason the 890R feels more manageable again.
Interesting. I guess it’s all relative. I came from the very light Transalp, so the Tiger feels bulky. But you’re right, the Tenere does carry its weight very high. Thanks for your input👍😊
How many adventure bikes actually go off road or even on gravel? They're the moto equivalent of a Range Rover.

Well, my 1200 GS (2012, TÜ) is about 230 kg, 7,6 k € … so same, same, but nicer 😂 ❤ (stay with it & spent the 10 k € for other things) ✨👌🏻

I must be one of the few that thought it was a smart move to sell both bikes.. I had a fabulous Speed Twin which I moved on to buy my current Guzzi and don't regret it at all..I didn't buy the Tiger 900 purely because of its shear size price and I didn't want all that tech my Guzzi was 4k less.! And..I can service it at home which the Triumph isn't really quite as do'able..
To be fair, quite a few viewers did get my reasoning. As I said, the Speed Twin is fabulous, but ultimately not particularly usable. The V7 is an excellent choice, and much more reasonably priced than the Tiger. Ride safe👍😊

Good vid, thanks. Triumph are awful at screens. I think they get them from Fischer-Price. You must be one of the few people that think cruisers are 'cool'. A statement that is a reflexive contradiction. Harley riders (especially) are either dyed in the wool reactionaries or dentists - or both.....either way: tropical
Lol, I don't think I would look cool at all on a cruiser, but I think many people believe - often misguidedly - that they do ;)

I don’t know why you complain about the rake , the bike handles very well off-road.
If you prefer you can rake it out (read the manual,if you go off the tarmac).
I would recommend you to take a course (off-road), so you could learn how to handle it better. When you live in south Portugal you have a lot of possibilities to go and explore. You don’t know what you’re missing.(I can recommend Triumph adventure in Málaga ).
I do most of my off-roading in groups. I don’t want to be asking my mates to wait for me to adjust the suspension every time we join and leave a gravel track. I’m just pointing out that other bikes don’t require this. Triumph Adventure is very good👍
And I am just pointing out that you can rake it out (because you are complaining about the rake).
And when you don’t do much off road, you won’t feel it anyway.

Did Mrs RM go on the ST1200 much with you? Would like to do a bit more 2 up riding with the wife on back, be nice to get out for a couple of hours together at the weekend.
We tried it a couple of times, but it didn’t really work. There’s not much room for her, even though she’s quite tiny, and the throttle response and no ‘backrest’ meant she didn’t feel very secure. She much prefers the Tiger.
Just get a Tenere 700 and all those annoyances will disappear

@@RocketMan_Moto no no, the voice is fine, and everything is great 90% of the time, but when you speak in a very low tone vocal fry starts to appear and its distracting. speaking in a slightly higher note makes it sound more melodic and cursive, going down low makes the voice start to fry. theres tons of examples of what i mean on youtube if u search 'vocal fry. cheers
