I have to admit that I was under the impression the jacket in Top Gun: Maverick was the ACTUAL jacket from Top Gun- that 's how good a job they did with it!
Also nice to have it confirmed the Top Gun (1986) jacket had some hefty shoulder pads in it- I kind of figured. The jacket in '86 made Tom Cruise look like he had the shoulders of a bodybuilder. LOL

wow,all that work and it was only shown in one scene! i have to admit i was disappointed that we didn't see more of the jacket in the film..definately one of my favorite movie jackets!

yeah I found it fascinating that all that work went into such a tiny part of the movie, but that's the attention to detail that I guess Tom & the Director demands of the costume team. They know that even the tiny amount of screen time it gets will be heavily scrutinised.

Absolutely great interview! There’s so many oddities about the first film, that seeing the majority of them “corrected” in Maverick really worked for me! It has the same soul of the original, but they’ve clearly gone out of their way to make it work “realistically” too, this time out… Even as unreal as it all is… Just a great way to do it all! Thanks for doing this interview! There’s a great shop down near the base in Okinawa that also makes patches still… I have a couple, although not Top Gun related ones… Very cool process!
