    Try the M12 with the laminate and you’ll feel a difference.
    Also, this pad without laminate actually comes closer to a marching drum with Mylar heads - which are easier on your hands and healthier for your wrists in the long run. (RCP also make a very hard pad that uses aluminum under the laminate, which is kind of what playing on high-tension Kevlar feels like, anyway. Maybe check out THAT pad.

    I was wanting to upgrade from my 20-year old RealFeel pads (they still have the old HQ Percussion stickers and have held up great) and was trying to figure out what you were using in your other videos. I guessed it was either a V3 or IP. I ended up buying the non-ScoJo V3 because of the larger diameter. …and then I saw you had this review video. Glad I guessed right.
    Anyhow, It feels awesome, much like my Pearl with a WhiteMax batter and is kind of in the middle of the hard/soft side volumes of a ReelFeel.

  • @realvdot
    @realvdot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I notice for some reason that Offworld changed how they produced the Invader somewhere along the way. That’s what leads to damage in the center and in extreme cases I’ve even seen bubbling. The early ones weren’t made like that. I’ve had my V3 for a DECADE and it hasn’t had any damage or need for waxing. I’ll have it forever.
    As for Xymox, they are the single most fragile pad on the market. They will break very easily. They take forever to arrive and the customer service is horrible. Anyone who has dealt with them knows how bad they can be. HOWEVER, the one pro is that with those (since they’ll break anyway) you can strip it down to just a gum rubber playing surface and have a snare gum pad that feels fantastic and will last.

  • @ckimchi
    @ckimchi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have never seen that happen to an offworld pad. They do say you have to clean it with window cleaner and turtle wax and stuff to maintain it, which is still a downside, but that does make it last longer. Or you can cover it with a laminate or stickers and stuff like a lot of people do

    I have been teaching drumline since I was 18 and now, I am 50. I have tired several of these drum pads over the years. from my first cheap remo cost $8 to $120 practice pads. There was kid that did not have much money and made a pad from a plywood board and foam. I took a look at these $15 to $20 Amazon chinese knockoffs. I bought one and realized that there was very little difference from the expensive practice pads. That kids had that for the last 3 years. He has played WGI and DCI corps with that pad and I have had one for the last 2 years. I play on it while I write drumline parts. The only thing i had to do was reglue the rubber part back on. only once and no other issues.

    • @FreestyleRudiments
      @FreestyleRudiments  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      yea most pads are gum rubber, its cheap and works great, the pads like Offworld and Brittcorps use some sort of "setting" silicon and they research and additional cost pushes all those prices up.

    I don't agree that an Offworld pad is likely to fall apart; I've had three now, and they've all been perfectly sturdy. But I also don't agree that Offworld pads feel like a cranked Kevlar head. In 2015, I prepared for a solo contest by using an Offworld Invader, and that was a huge mistake. My hands adjusted to the pad, and I could barely play the solo on an actual drum.
    Excellent pads, but there's no replacement for a real, live marching head.

      tbh I have another offworld now and its not got any problem either, so maybe it was a bad one off? also what Ryan is saying about pad not being exactly like a snare is also 100% true, I am still waiting for a perfect replica that is quiet but for the moment the offworld with a laminate is the closest I have player, I have not played them all but like you can wait to find the missing link between pad and drum.

    Don't buy a Xymox Pad. They will give you constant false promises on shipping times, and it will generally take around a year to ship.

      Yea its a shame they don't have direct competition. Are the pads made in US? Or China?

      @@FreestyleRudiments They're made in the US. The issue is not even that they don't have competition. Their pads are made with cheap plastics, and they constantly run "sales" to trick people into placing orders that they do not receive for months on end. They also will not give refunds and they will cancel if you order any expedited shipping.

    @Xymox has stolen my money. I ordered a pad for my son's 16th birthday. And we still have not received it. He is now 20. They will not respond to our emails. Do not purchase a Xymox pad.

      Sorry to hear this. I am pretty shocked that nobody in the US has turned up at the "factory" with a camera... in the uk people would have been round with baseball bats by now lol... but we dont have guns to worry about.
