  • STREET FOOD TOUR IN RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN
Foreigners try paan for the first time!
We continue our journey in Rawalpindi by hunting for its most famous street food including some chanay and roasted chicken, paan (betel nut & leaf!), and Pakistan's famous street burger the anda shami burger or more popularly known as anday wala burger.
Check out our Pakistan food reaction!
Stay tuned for more Pakistan travel vlogs and Pakistan food vlogs, including some Pakistan food tour and Pakistan street food tours! For the next 10 days we will be showing Islamabad street food tour, Pakistan market tour, Islamabad vlogs, and Islamabad market tours! We will also tell you our experiences through our reaction of Pakistan, reaction on Pakistan, Pakistan reaction videos, and Pakistan bus review videos. We've really been blown away by the Pakistani hospitality so far, and so we will be creating some Pakistani people vlogs with Pakistan drone footage, from two foreigners in Pakistan-- actually Canadians in Pakistan, (North American in Pakistan,) And of course Ivana was born in Indonesia - so you will see thoughts and views from Indonesian in Pakistan, living in Pakistan, things to do in Pakistan, things to do in Islamabad, Pakistan must visit, and more!

I usually don't write comments but now I must say you both are great! I've seen many vlogs of Pakistan from Mark Wiens, Food Ranger, Chopstick Travel but you are the only ones who show more than only food. You are so open minded, friendly and respectful. You go to mosques, museums, Shopping Malls and play Cricket with pakistani kids or try different food like pan. Every time I see your new vlog, I'm just smiling all the time 😊
Thanks for showing my country in that way!! I hope you enjoy your journey in Pakistan.

These two are humblest human beings I know. It was clear Steve and Ivana didn't like Zarda at all(even I don't) but they didn't outrightly reject and even tried it for 2 to 3 times, completely unwillingly, to make it humble. Also Ivana immediately started complimenting the environment and privacy of the hall. You guys are extremely special. World needs to learn kindness from u guys! 5 stars ⭐

Zarda= ghee/oil+ cardamom+ sugar syrup+ food colourings+ jelly(sweet pumpkin concentrate) + any floral food essence of choice(sometimes candied orange is also used instead of essence).
Ga-chak= cane sugar caramel+ any kind of dry nuts(it's like unbroken praline)
Meetha Paan(sweet paan) is used to assist digestion, and as a mouth freshner. And there's a herb in it called malathi, it's used to heal sore throat.
There's also tobacco paan, tobacco paan is mostly eaten by men only. Tobacco paan causes tongue and throat cancer(as do cigarette) so it's not eaten alot.
Anda shami burger/anday wala burger= omelette+ shami kabab(shami kabab is made with boiled mixture of lentils and meat of choice along with spices. Meat at home is usually used mutton or beef but professionally it's chicken because it's more economic.) + bun+ sauces of choice+ salad of choice.

Shami Kabab is made with meat and lentils. I believe at home ratio is 50/50 but street vendors use more lentils than the meat. I guess to keep the cost low. It’s a very old Pakistani street food and I believe it started to have Pakistan own take on a burger. That’s why Ivana liked it more as it’s lentils. Love watching you guys having fun.

Let me start by giving u 6 stars for ur exuberant facial expressions after eating pan. Even i as a pakistani dont know the complete ingredients of a paan but mostly it has quick lime, coconut flakes, dried dates, some plant extracts , tobacco and betel nuts and its served on the betel leaf.

An amazing day of hunting for street food in Rawalpindi. Great that you guys tried that paan. What l have seen so far, the seller just put cracked betel nuts and some white powder ( "kapur", in the Malay language ) and rolled up in that betel leaf. Actually, it's not healthy if eaten often.
Burgers looked yummy😋😋 You guys ate burger in Rawalpindi and Ken also ate beef burger in Chumphon.
    What a coincident !! 😂😂

Next food item to try in Rawalpindi, fried fish from college road and Kabul tikka in Islamabad. Best Chinese food buffet is Mei Kong in rawalpindi.

Gulqand is the ingredient in the paan which the vendor could explain. It is made from Rose petals and sugar - (Gul - Rose + Qand - Sugar). Zarda is named so because it is coloured yellow and zard is the name for the yellow colour.
