I really like the rangers, small, nimble, good power. I had a 19 xlt fx4 with all the bells and whistles. Loved the truck,BUT had one big problem. The electronics for the 10 speed transmission was a constant problem. Had to have it reflashed 3 times the third time was locked out in 3rd gear, had to be towed to dealership. Transmission was jerky, low speeds would not shift down to lower gears. Needless to say it went goodbye after ford couldn't fix it.
Well I now have a new entry to my lottery car list! Sounds like the ultimate all rounder and a hugely capable daily. All the plus points of the F-150 Raptor, but now in a package that fits on UK roads!
Love mine, delivered in October 22. I am addicted to off road racing. Eats up V8 70 series Land cruisers on dirt and sand, nimble and fast. Its effortless and makes a Jeep Gladiator look like a toy. It's basically a stock rally car / dune buggy you can buy off the shelf. Got an allocation on a DarkHorse 24 as part of the deal.
check 4LOW on the gearbox , previos version had big problems with this gearbox and 4L mode . Its fix or still its schooting when change forward and rear . that was very big issiue becouse of stockin the gearbox in the drive mode.
Thank you for this review- I’ve found it very helpful and it’s given me confidence in my decision to purchase one. I have one on order and it’s due to be delivered mid June, all going well. I’m very excited about this because I’ve never bought anything like this but have decided that life’s to short to sit on the sidelines. Looking forward to doing some training on a 4wd track and learning as much as I can so I can use my car to its potential. I’m in my 70’s so I’ve just got a bit of time before it all gets too late😆Thanks again.
@@patrickkinsella4130 long story. I’m in Victoria. I had recently taken delivery of my Wildtrak and drove it to Queensland to visit friends. A week in I got rear ended and the car is a write off. So I rang my dealer, told him the story, and said I wanted to get a Raptor. He told me there was one with a roller cover on the back on the production line as we spoke, so I agreed to purchase it. So in effect I didn’t order one - it was already available. That was three weeks ago. Right now the vehicle is on board the Hercules Leader which is due in to Melbourne in two days. It’s anyone’s guess as to when it will get to the dealer - maybe by the 19th. I’m not sure how accurate this is but I was told by my dealer today that they are expecting more delays because vehicles due to arrive in the next few months will be affected by quarantine issues. Also I’m in a Ford sponsored 4wd group we are going to Darwin at the end of the month and because the trip has media coverage there is pressure to get my next gen vehicle included in the run. Sorry I can’t give you more reliable information.
@@reneejansen3983 thanks for the reply. Sounds like you might have got lucky with one (almost) ready to go. I'm in metro Melbourne and happy to wait up to a year so fingers crossed. Fail that, I may look towards the GR Hilux that's coming out later this year but that's not my first preference. Good lucky with recieving the car and your trip up north.
@@patrickkinsella4130 yes it was luck. But if I may say, the dealer has been very good. They’d want to be because this is my third vehicle from them . But seriously, the sales rep has been one step ahead of everything all along. Ive noticed within the 4wd group that people ordering new vehicles have taken a long time to be even allocated a vehicle whereas I have been matched up with one straight away. I live at the other end of the state but I can recommend the dealer. Just message me if you want details.
It's noticably wider and taller than a standard Ranger, which is itself a big rig for city parking. So it's certainly not the easiest for that kind of thing -Sam
@@Drivecomau Thanks Sam, the local review here may not be exaggerating. They even mentioned that it is hard to drive into basement car park at some shopping malls because of the turn.
Absolutely awesome vid! 65+L/100 haha gold…Kudos for giving it a cooldown lap. Shows knowledge and respect for the machine 👌🏻👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 Brakes, tranny, engine oil and hot section of turbos need time to cool down, well done
As an owner of the new Raptor i agree that the fuel economy is terrible, even taking it easy you get average 4.5kml, the brakes are terrible they are electronically assisted and have a mind of their own and pose a safety issue, The interior is good but let down by seats that have to much lower back bolster and not enough side support, also the wireless phone charger overheats the phone and the keyless entry is a joke when trying to lock the truck. Its a great truck let down by issues Ford should have fixed during the development. Anyone considering this truck should do their research and make sure and have a long test drive.
Faaaaarrrrr....if you spent $90k to go nuts at a 4WD racing park and do jumps pretty sure the thought of a wallet bleeding and environment destroying 65L/100km were ever considered. With that much fun and versatility it looks worth it.
Hey Sam, Raptor forever! Say Sam, don’t mind sharing with us the location of that fantastic off-road airborne track please? In the outskirts of Sydney, eh? Looks like in the Blue Mountains? I am guessing around Lithgow?
There should be at least one winch bumper available by the end of this year, and there does seem to be hidden options on eBay, though I'm uncertain if I wish to try them first
I was about to spend €52k on the previous model but after test driving this iv decided to save for another year and pay the extra 30k for the new one.😊
Hey really good video and reviews i must say. As for the Raptor at that price I’ll say fair dinkum, but the fuel consumption kind of put me off abit. For daily usage it’s not your environmental friendly but who cares as long as its good for off road trip eh!😅
Another “in depth review” that doesn’t mention fuel capacity, fuel consumption, whether it has diff locks or not….gushing about the motor doesn’t tell us about the car!
Because of the 'Live Valve' active damping on compression, these shocks have a wider bandwith of available compression damping. Raptor engineers confirmed this. - Sam
@@Drivecomau Thanks Sam, I find it hard to detect much meaningful change between the steering wheel damper settings, it seems like the car will end up deciding what it thinks you need. The terms Normal, Sport and Off-road are ambiguous and don't directly imply, soft, medium and hard. Just wondering if you had it confirmed by the engineers that the 'Off-road' setting was indeed the overall 'softest' in compression. My advice through a friend of the Ford design team has suggested the contrary. Normal is supposed to be the softest setting and Off-road is the firmest and the car will deliver different current to the live valves based on mode, terrain (wheel position), throttle, speed, yaw etc. It would be great if you could do an in-depth video to explore this further. :). Love your vids and the Raptor content is great!
Same percentage as those that buy Porche's, Ferrari's, and Audi RS's I would suggest. At least this one is relatively more affordable, and ultimately more practical.
Perhaps the owners of the race circuit should buy a fleet of them and hire them out for wanna-be's, that way you can get your dirt fix and keep the 90K in your pocket, coz I think one or two blast around the circuit and you will be over it.

Rated at 405 hp here in North America. That still puts is 45 hp below a Raptor, 25 hp below a gas Tremor and 70 or 95 below a diesel Tremor, almost 300 below a Raptor R, and 370 hp below a F150 Shelby.
