I get lost in the Hymns as I am drawn closer to Heaven. I Love you all. Thank You. I'm 85 years of age and a member for 53 years. I am currently the Ward organist.
As someone who raises sheep, this song means so much to me. Literally and figuratively. As a shepherdess, I know how very sad it is to lose one of your lambs. I pray I can be like my Savior, my shepherd. I know He truly wants us all to come home.
I love this hymn. As someone who is born in the church and never was technically inactive her whole life, this is still applicable to me. There are days when I don't pray, when I don't read the scriptures or even think about the Lord. Despite me being still technically active, there are moments between being active that there are small pockets of inactivity. I do not like this feeling. The natural man sometimes overcomes me. But hymns would suddenly pop into my head and I would go to youtube and watch/listen to the hymns. And then I would feel well again, I would start praying, reading the scriptures, thinking about the Lord. Even when I am technically active, my whole family of members are all around me, the Lord always brings me back to the fold because He knows I would wander and I have tendencies to be lost. So I am so grateful for this hymn and for our Savior who knows me soooo much! He knows what i think and feel all the time. I thank Him for reminding me to get back to the fold. My prayer is I would be not lost and stay on track and endure to the end.
These beautiful hymns can also help you when you are spiritually lost! I have wandered away spiritually and it's easy to do! But my faith in my savior has been there...even if there was only a spark of faith! He knows this! He has helped me out of some really deep dark places even if it's ony singing a hymn I knew or saying a prayer in my heart! I testify to anyone out there who is or might be lost that he DOES know of and remembers ALL his lost sheep! If you need him say a little prayer or sing one hymn you might know...either way he WILL come to you no matter where you are or what you have done! I promise you!❤❤❤ I truly love my Savior!
i was raised lds, and left the church when i was 16. while i’m grateful i did, because i have been able to learn so much about the universe and the idea of god outside of the church, there are two lds songs that still live in my heart. this song, and homeward bound also by the tabernacle choir.
I am sure you have your reasons for leaving. However, God's Love for you has not changed one ioda, I hope you know that. I hope you can feel that. I hope that you can find peace in your life. I do have a testimony that Jesus Christs Church is the way to the most joy and happiness in this life and in the life to come. I do hope you will reconsider. Either way, I wish you the very best Colten.
1. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the sheep of his fold; Dear is the love that he gives them, Dearer than silver or gold. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are his "other" lost sheep; Over the mountains he follows, Over the waters so deep. (Chorus) Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue he hastens, Bringing them back to the fold. (4th verse only: we'll hasten,) 2. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the lambs of his fold; Some from the pastures are straying, Hungry and helpless and cold. See, the Good Shepherd is seeking, Seeking the lambs that are lost, Bringing them in with rejoicing, Saved at such infinite cost. 3. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the "ninety and nine"; Dear are the sheep that have wandered Out in the desert to pine. Hark! he is earnestly calling, Tenderly pleading today: "Will you not seek for my lost ones, Off from my shelter astray?" 4. Green are the pastures inviting; Sweet are the waters and still. Lord, we will answer thee gladly, "Yes, blessed Master, we will! Make us thy true under-shepherds; Give us a love that is deep. Send us out into the desert, Seeking thy wandering sheep.

wonderful hymn, when I sang with my little daughter, we cried together
The Lord loves you no matter what…..and you have uniqueness that no one else has. Everyone is an individual.
I didn’t dedicate me entire life into fighting this moral injustice. I was called at the end of it.
Saved at such a infinite cost
It's so nice to know that I am dear to Him.
Heavens own Choir
This song was sung at my baptism back in 2006. It still just as precocious today as it was then!

I also suddenly hear hymns in my mind when I feel lost or need guidance 🤔 that’s cool to hear someone else has the same happen to them.

My family and me sing this song today in the sacramental in my house but we sing this in spanish.
This reminds me of my worth and others as a children of God. Thank you for the music. It is beautiful!
