It was weird and awesome seeing it, I played through the main games over lockdown after seeing a bit of the Game Grumps playthrough of the first game and it was a wild ride. Nice to see it appear in a random video
So there's a secret in Super Mario Kart (SNES). The CPU racers always follow the same exact path, so you can drop shells and bananas at certain spots and the CPU will always crash into it. Also, depending on what character you choose, you will have a rival who is always right behind you. If the rival character slips behind some other character, the CPUS will slow down until he's in front of the line. Also, you weren't drifting
Also him wondering about why the other characters are faster was funny. IIRC, peach and Yoshi are the slowest characters, with Bowser and DK Jr. being the fastest. They make up for this with excellent handling or acceleration.
Goodbye Despair is really good. The executions become more elaborate, the characters are- for the most part- are really entertaining, the trials become more entertaining and overall, it surpasses the first in many wa- oh right... this is a MK video.

Honestly, I am impressed with Nathaniel’s hard work he puts in these new videos. This person is extremely dedicated to his work and is one of the few TH-camrs who will deliberately stress himself just for our entertainment
For 7, I didn’t realize 20k coins is an alternative unlock condition for the gold kart. I just played online up to 10k VR. Even then, it still took over a few months to get 10k VR on 7 Online. Despite all this though, it was entertaining seeing you push 100% completing the Mainline Mario Kart games as much as you could.
Not once did I think Nathanial Bandy would talk about Danganronpa, let alone during a Mario Kart marathon. I can’t escape this game ever since I replayed it
Yeah that Mario 7 coin requirement is magnitudes of difficulty harder than the other challenges. Doing just that at a rate of 160 coins per hour, he'd need to play almost 18 hours a day to collect 20000 coins. Meaning, in theory, he'd have to have that challenge running from the very beginning, do it intermittently between other races for 18 hours a day, pause other races to strictly limit time the clock so he could keep that rate at a maxed out 160 and be perfect at that all week. Utterly ridiculous. Great job with the attempt! It was very impressive.
I'm guessing that would involve unlocking every character, plus completing any and all single player modes. Including: Classic mode for every character in each game. All-Star mode with every character for each game that has it. the events for the games that have it (spirit board doesn't count). And all the adventure modes (Melee adventure mode with all characters, subspace, and world of light).
The dedication to hold down the drive button for 7 days to complete all the funny driving Italian man games is just, I don’t have a word to describe it.
listening to nathaniel talk about danganronpa is my new favourite thing ever because it’s one of my favourite franchises and a part of me hopes that he makes a video about it at some point, even if it’s just a video ranking all of the characters, trials, motives or executions
for Mario kart 8 it's not just the number of coins you end the race with, it counts the total number you collected regardless of how many your actually finish with. at least it did for me
1:13 - Super Mario Kart 5:36 - Mario Kart 64 8:01 - Mario Kart Super Circuit 15:27 - Mario Kart: Double Dash!! 16:57 - Mario Kart DS 18:25 - Mario Kart Wii 21:31 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 25:27 - Mario Kart 7 And the outro part where he says how much time each game took, the total was 88 hours, or 3.6 days! So, much dedication to Nathaniel/Nathan!
I absolutely love the day transition animations, they just add that much more pizazz to the video and they’re really well done, congrats to whoever made them
Soooo….. I wasn’t expecting that trying to 100% every Mario kart game could possinly break someone like this but at the same time it’s cool to see you played danganronpa and enjoyed it! The second game is definitely the best one in my opinion!
4:20 Bandy gets Driver's Thumb. This happens with real-life racing (Driver's Leg) as well and is why the real life Le Mans race only allows you to drive for 6 hours at a time.
MK8 stores all the coins you’ve collected in a GP. You can only hold 10, but every coin you pick up after that is stored in your game total.I doubt this would’ve changed the strategy tho
This challenge is awesome! My older brother and I started something similar around a week ago. We’re playing vs. matches for every course in every Mario Kart game. We’re calling it “the All Kart Tour”. I’d highly recommend it to anyone!
I remember feeling very accomplished completing the 150cc in Super Mario Kart on Super NES with Bowser. I kept collecting coins to go faster. Friend didn't realize the 150cc existed till I came over. As a veteran of the series, Thank you for sharing your experience with the series.
Back in the day I played Super Mario Kart endlessly. I didn’t have very many games then. It made me grind all the hard difficulty. This brought me back lol
As far as I'm aware the rocket start in Super Circuit actually adds to your skill points, rather than subtracting from them. So that might've made things a bit easier. Still don't blame you for skipping that one though
so happy you’re enjoying danganronpa, it’s personally one of my all time favorites to play, second game (goodbye despair) is my favorite of the three, the art style, story and the personality to game and characters is what pulled me in and enjoy it
It ain't easy as y'all think, if you remember that the Super Mario Maker games are all 2D Mario games. Good luck beating every level ever created in those games!!
Couple changes to this challenge I would’ve done: For MK7 knowing about that 20k coins unlockable, I would actually start with that game and play the others while grinding using the method you did. For MK8, that’s a solid coin grind, but I’m pretty sure it’d count for the coins for both players or do it with 4 players, so do the same as before, just switch to the other players and get coins with them too (Also, probably practice Super Mario Kart and Super Circuit beforehand.) Other than that though, great job! Super fun video and I want to try this challenge out for myself!
It definitely seems like doing the Mario Kart 7 cups/time trials first and then grinding coins while completing the other games could make this quite a bit faster. Someone else in the comment section also mentioned something pretty useful on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You can use 4 controllers with auto-accelerate and smart-steering on Big Blue to get coins, so that's another game you can have running in the background. I'd love to see someone complete this challenge, maybe in 6 or even 5 days, with these optimizations in mind.
Sadly Mario Kart 7 is the true time killer. Even with the lazy method that Bandy did to be able to do other games would still require 18 hours days on all 7 days on Mario kart 7 alone to get 20K coins.
@@NathanielBandy I took sometime to math out it out. Only way it would be possible would grind all 7 days with everyday grinding Mario Kart 7 for 18 hours. Each day with 18 hours would be: 2880 coins. The last day you would only need to do 17 hours if your perfect the whole way through but most likely be 18 hours from little time lose factors. Your sleep would take a massive hit but it's possible.
I knew SC was gonna cause some trouble lol. Drifting is actually really easy. You just start the drift like usual but you have to jump at the end of it to realign yourself. You'll still get the speedboost.
He had the same problem for Super Mario Kart as well, I think he just never learnt how to drift in those games making all of them x500 harder than they needed to be. Which to be honest shows how strong Bandy's mental game is because If I wasn't allowed to drift in the retro games I'd want to throw them at a window
seeing someone new to danganronpa gush about it after a blind playthru is something I haven't seen in a while lol, excited to see how you like danganronpa 2, it's fairly highly regarded as the best in the series by most fans
I remember fully beating Super Mario Kart for the first time 4 years ago after having played it mostly in Battle Mode with my siblings during my childhood. It honestly made me gain a new sense of appreciation for the game. Getting used to the driving mechanics takes a while nowadays, but after you get the hang of them the game can be a ton of fun. I'm always a bit sad it's become sort of a black sheep for the series.
Thank you for the Horizon Chase, Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast music references throughout the video! Very neat to relisten to them! And congrats, that's a really harsh challenge. I have my MKSC cart for GBA to this day and managed to get a third option for the Title Screen that you didn't mention, a sunset palette (orange-y), which has to do with winning all the base cups in all speeds.
Watch @yakkocmn specifically his video on every Sonic game done in a week, where this seriesbwas inspired from. If you only wanna watch Nathaniel that's okay too ig
I completed Super Circuit back in the day. Remember there was a "middle ground" start screen where the background was evening-orange. The exact prerequisites to reach that stage I don't recall, but you were typically stuck with that evening screen for a good while when working your way to a perfect 3-star completion. Getting the start screen turn over to night actually felt a bit satisfying then.
0:40 Day 1 & Super Mario Kart 5:35 Mario Kart 64 7:41 Mario Kart: Super Circuit 7:55 Day 2 15:25 Mario Kart: Double Dash 16:55 Mario Kart DS 17:26 Day 3 18:25 Mario Kart Wii 19:44 Day 4 21:29 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 23:34 Day 5 25:27 Mario Kart 7 27:54 Day 6 30:30 Finishing Super Circuit 31:19 Day 7
1:35 It's also quite odd that each cup has FIVE races instead of the usual four, and each track has FIVE laps, not three. No wonder it gets exhausting really fast.😣
I loved the unlock screens in Double Dash so much I would play without my memory card just to unlock stuff repeatedly. Unfortunately one day my older brother deleted my Double Dash save file on my memory card as he thought I would be excited...it took me years to 100% the game again
100% completing Double Dash is as simple as finishing 1st in every Grand Prix Cup. 50cc and 100cc in Double Dash are probably the easiest Grand Prix cups in the series because the CPUs don't throw Blue shells.
Lol, might as well give him a month. Don't know if it is even possible since the speedrun WR for only the 3D Zeldas 100% is 56 hours.(this is from before Tears of the Kingdom released) It would be a great video though, so might as well.
Given the 100% speedrun record for Breath of the Wild alone is over 18 hours, and Tears of the Kingdom is even longer, and the Hyrule Warriors games are utter hell to 100% complete... It'd probably need to be more like 3 months lol
Wow NB. These marathons are epic. The fact that you even broke your ankle doing this video and still want to keep making more challenges is mind blowing. Keep up the good work.
You increase your top speed by collecting coins in Super Mario Kart. You have to collect them to match the enemies speeds in later levels. Games were just hard af back then. They NEVER held your hand like they do today. I'm a life long gamer. I started with NES, but I even had an Atari 2600 and a Vectrex donated to me when I was a git. I'd play the hell out of them bitches, too. We often had to share the secrets we found in games with other children at school to progress, discover or unlock special areas/items and/or or just secrets in general. Nintendo Power subscriptions became a must. I loved the magazines, but I rarely used them myself to actually aquire any meaningful progression; for the first few years anyway. Mostly because I was really young and it took a little bit of growing up to understand how helpful they actually were. It's fun to watch younger people playing the older games. They're generally pretty tough to finish. Beating an NES was a ridiculously memorable accomplishment.
I love the "Mario & Luigi" games with Partners in Time being one of my all time fave games. A week to play all of those games??? Too crazy to even think about
29:48 Actually, since you were idle for most of the coin farming in MK7 - wouldn't it have saved a lot of time if you started with it, and did all the waiting for other players to finish, while you play the other games in the meantime?
@@CyberLou I mean - yeah. I wouldn't recommend it for a personal playthrough. But for this kind of challenge, I don't think an immerdive gaming experience is that high on the priority list. Skill-wise the switching might also take a little toll on his performance in the actual race, if that's what you mean. But I really think it wouldn't be bad enough for the cons to outweigh the pros.
in super circuit rocket starts gives you more skill points, it doesn't remove some from you. Also, you don't need 3 stars in the extra cups for the night title screen, which is good because the skill points are GLITCHED for some extra tracks

He does do very interesting and somewhat challenges
Honestly, I am impressed with Nathaniel’s hard work he puts in these new videos. This person is extremely dedicated to his work and is one of the few TH-camrs who will deliberately stress himself just for our entertainment
For 7, I didn’t realize 20k coins is an alternative unlock condition for the gold kart. I just played online up to 10k VR.
Even then, it still took over a few months to get 10k VR on 7 Online.
Despite all this though, it was entertaining seeing you push 100% completing the Mainline Mario Kart games as much as you could.
And now we can’t do it your way because why?

Not once did I think Nathanial Bandy would talk about Danganronpa, let alone during a Mario Kart marathon. I can’t escape this game ever since I replayed it
As a highly involved Danganronpa fan and a childhood fan of Nintendo. I love this video
Man… this is pretty cool! You should do everything in Super Smash Bros. next… if you can!
For Mewtwo, he can go to Yoshi's Island and instantly down air the yellow blocks on the ground to die ASAP on 1 stock
@@Reshi9984
Can he just make all 4 Players Human Players and set the timer high and let it run out?
Now that's a challenge
If he want to play Brawl
I'm guessing that would involve unlocking every character, plus completing any and all single player modes.
Including:
Classic mode for every character in each game.
27:43 i did not expect to hear "insaniquarium" music playing in the background of a mario video XD i approve
listening to nathaniel talk about danganronpa is my new favourite thing ever because it’s one of my favourite franchises and a part of me hopes that he makes a video about it at some point, even if it’s just a video ranking all of the characters, trials, motives or executions
This guy is pushing it to the limit. He’ll do anything to make a challenge unique.
How many times have you commented on this video
for Mario kart 8 it's not just the number of coins you end the race with, it counts the total number you collected regardless of how many your actually finish with. at least it did for me
32:06 omg OOOOMMGGG HES PLAYING DANGANROMPA ALERT HE IS PLAYING DANGANROMPA

5:36 - Mario Kart 64

16:57 - Mario Kart DS
18:25 - Mario Kart Wii
21:31 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
25:27 - Mario Kart 7
And the outro part where he says how much time each game took, the total was 88 hours, or 3.6 days! So, much dedication to Nathaniel/Nathan!
Averaging 11½ hours of playing a day for 7 days straight.
He didnt play the arcade game

Those day transitions are so smooth!

buh.💀
I absolutely love the day transition animations, they just add that much more pizazz to the video and they’re really well done, congrats to whoever made them
I feel like nintendo should give you a medal for all that your doing. Great work nathaniel.
Oh really? I always wondered if this was a thing since 7! So I'm glad it actually was in 8

"i get mad at games sometimes"
*celeste music starts playing*
so happy you’re enjoying danganronpa, it’s personally one of my all time favorites to play, second game (goodbye despair) is my favorite of the three, the art style, story and the personality to game and characters is what pulled me in and enjoy it
Now, there is NO way he can 100% every 2D Mario game in a week, if he can, I’ll be VERY surprised
bro those games are easy af to 100%
especially the newer games with co op
i could probably 100% mario bros wii in like 6 hours
That's way too ez, only really hard one there is bew super mario bros 2 with the dumb coin collectable
It ain't easy as y'all think, if you remember that the Super Mario Maker games are all 2D Mario games. Good luck beating every level ever created in those games!!
@@rapstallion6615 all 2d hand-crafted Nintendo levels are beatable in 1 week.
I dunno, pretty sure he could beat the original in about 5 minutes
Couple changes to this challenge I would’ve done:
For MK7 knowing about that 20k coins unlockable, I would actually start with that game and play the others while grinding using the method you did.
For MK8, that’s a solid coin grind, but I’m pretty sure it’d count for the coins for both players or do it with 4 players, so do the same as before, just switch to the other players and get coins with them too
(Also, probably practice Super Mario Kart and Super Circuit beforehand.)
Other than that though, great job!
Super fun video and I want to try this challenge out for myself!
Bandy's becoming more of an animation channel every upload
Ikr
Yeah
Just think the amount of time he puts into making his videos. He puts so much effort into them and is why he’s such a unique gaming channel.
Great video Nathan. Please let this become its own series (can I 100% complete x in a week?). These are really fun.
12:09 using a rocket start to take away skill points is like charging Squidward for breathing
Ironically, that's what happened. In squid on strike.
I think even with that method, I would've only gotten to like 8-9K coins by the end
Thanks for the A+ explaination on getting 3 stars in super circuit. I really needed it!
32:51 "buy-a-kuya" your pronunciation is killing me.

I knew SC was gonna cause some trouble lol. Drifting is actually really easy. You just start the drift like usual but you have to jump at the end of it to realign yourself. You'll still get the speedboost.
Mans was having s skill issue in super circuit
He had the same problem for Super Mario Kart as well, I think he just never learnt how to drift in those games making all of them x500 harder than they needed to be. Which to be honest shows how strong Bandy's mental game is because If I wasn't allowed to drift in the retro games I'd want to throw them at a window
I was not expecting a danganronpa side tangent in this mario kart video. But I'm here for it, I love those games
So glad to hear you are enjoying Danganronpa! I hope you have fun with the rest of the games! They are all so incredible! c:
Don't believe this fake channel. This Giveaway has to be fake
@7:57 haha, that's literally exactly how I played DD, King Boo and Pirana Plant in the Gold Car! X-D

seeing someone new to danganronpa gush about it after a blind playthru is something I haven't seen in a while lol, excited to see how you like danganronpa 2, it's fairly highly regarded as the best in the series by most fans
I really love this series so far! I can't wait for more of these types of videos.
18:58 while i was watching this i was holding a tv remote and when you went of the ranp i shook the tv romote to trick. 😂
I want more of these, they’re so much fun to watch.
Watch @yakkocmn specifically his video on every Sonic game done in a week, where this seriesbwas inspired from. If you only wanna watch Nathaniel that's okay too ig
Same, but they are hell for him 😂
He’s torturing himself for our amusement
totally just of hell of fun
I completed Super Circuit back in the day. Remember there was a "middle ground" start screen where the background was evening-orange. The exact prerequisites to reach that stage I don't recall, but you were typically stuck with that evening screen for a good while when working your way to a perfect 3-star completion. Getting the start screen turn over to night actually felt a bit satisfying then.

At 4:13 that is do able with feather and you can actually do that with the normal slide jump button too. But that one is harder to pull off.

It was causing me mental anguish watching how bad he was. 😂 The first Mario Kart is arguably the most fair game in the series
1:35 It's also quite odd that each cup has FIVE races instead of the usual four, and each track has FIVE laps, not three. No wonder it gets exhausting really fast.😣
The tracks are short to compensate
I really love the animation made for each day.

50cc and 100cc in Double Dash are probably the easiest Grand Prix cups in the series because the CPUs don't throw Blue shells.
i like how every one of these marathons has that one game with absolutely absurd requirements for 100%
Now it’s time to 100% ever Zelda game in a week 😂
Lol, might as well give him a month. Don't know if it is even possible since the speedrun WR for only the 3D Zeldas 100% is 56 hours.(this is from before Tears of the Kingdom released) It would be a great video though, so might as well.
and memorize the entire Zelda timeline XD
More realistically, simply beat every game, plus all major quests (mostly applicable to botw & totk)
Good luck if you want to 100% 20 games in 1 week
Too crazy to even think about
I tried to marathon the entire series but gave up due to the original Superstar Saga being a slog
This dude did in less than a week what took me 8 months of near continuous playing.
Mario Kart Double Dash.
I can't believe you started talking about Danganronpa in a Mario Kart video. I love it!
Can’t wait for 100% every 3D sonic game in a week!
29:48 Actually, since you were idle for most of the coin farming in MK7 - wouldn't it have saved a lot of time if you started with it, and did all the waiting for other players to finish, while you play the other games in the meantime?
Thought the same thing
Then you gotta switch games every couple of minutes. Meaning you can't get immersed into any of them.
I love how challenging the SNES game is haha. My favorite in the series.
Yeah its good.
Okay, here’s an idea. Paper Mario 64, TTYD, and SPM 100% in one week
in super circuit rocket starts gives you more skill points, it doesn't remove some from you.
Also, you don't need 3 stars in the extra cups for the night title screen, which is good because the skill points are GLITCHED for some extra tracks
