I have to admit, Johnny was one of the coolest looking cartoon characters back then. The cool fiery hair, the shirt with the radioactive symbol. That kid was literally the embodiment of cool.
I remember liking Johnny Test as a kid and then watching it a few years later and it feeling like a completing different and worse show. It was really confusing, this definitely explains what happened.
The netflix revival is probably the most faithful revival i have EVER seen. I mean if it wasnt for a new art style you would never have known it was revival. It feels exactly the same but just more polished and has better writing. The tone and feeling of johnny test is still very in tact and it has the best animation in the series. Its beautiful. I hope netflix didnt cancel the show, it has been a long time since it aired and still no news.
Johnny test was basically a guilty pleasure show for me. It wasn't extremely bad but not something special either. I did enjoy the original run enough being a reverse Dexter's laboratory where we follow the non smart sibling instead of the smart ones(same hair too) The cast was enjoyable when the story was good and I loved the fact that johnny actually was able to make former enemies into friends like the bee keeper and vegan Darth Vader just by being nice or pointing out something to change thier perspective
it being a reversed version of Dexter's laboratory was one of the reasons i didn't like the show growing up i also found a peculiarly father very annoying
This was one of those shows you’d get home from school, turn on Cartoon Network and get some laughs for a bit. The humor wasn’t amazing but it had its moments and I definitely appreciated it as a kid. I had no idea Netflix rebooted it but that is the least surprising thing I’ve seen. Appreciate this video Jordan, keep up the great work!

Since you’re also showing cartoons that are still going to this day, revival or not, I would LOVE to see you do a “WAIT... Remember Ninjago?” episode. That show started in 2011 and recently finished its FIFTEENTH season! And it’s still continuing on into 2023, which is *wild* for a serialized animated show to achieve. But what’s even more insane is despite Ninjago’s impressive longevity, hardly ANYONE talks about it, hell, most people probably thought it ended after the season 2 finale... y’know, the finale that happened about a decade ago? Ninjago currently has 2 series (both canon and in the same continuity), at least four games, several comics series and novels (a good portion being canon), plays, two Twitter novels, a motley of canon and non-canon shorts on TH-cam, and do I even need to mention the toy line? It has such an impressive breadth of content, and yet, most people ignore it. So yeah, I think it’d be really cool for a relatively popular channel to actually give the show some coverage because it’s very underrated.
@@luckylol That’s funny because a lot of people I’ve seen stop or get burnt out at season 7, which is right before seasons 8-10, which is considered by many to be the peak of the series.

Johnny Test was legit a recurring watch during my early teen years. Always had a lot of fun watching it in CN back then, to the point of almost always catching new episodes on premiere, due to how wacky it was. Kinda upset when I found out about its infamy within the general cartoon community (didn't even mind the animation change imo) but it's good that it's getting some more positive vibes recently thanks to other people who grew up with the show.
During the dark times of Cartoon Network, Johnny Test was much needed. Sure some episodes fall flat on plot but the rest was pretty good with the pool of characters such as Bling Bling Boy.
Around the time Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were popular, my brother would walk off with my Action Replay for infinite Rare Candies and Master Balls so he could battle his friends. He eventually got me into it. On the way to school, one of his friends talked about Gyarados. Johnny Test helped him explain why I should bother with Magikarp, even though it had no attacks. It's strange that this show led me indirectly to competitive Pokémon, but having a one-to-one example helped me understand base stats and evolutions.

This show had been burned into memory, it can't be forgotten. Suppressed at best.

I have an extremely interesting memory of this show. I was like 4 and my mom dropped me off in the middle of nowhere to a woman’s house. It was a "religious" tradition to watch JT every single weekday after elementary and middle school between 2009 and 2014. And ever since OK KO was finished due to a major mess at Warner media, I reverted back to Test and I explored and enjoyed a shitload of Canadian cartoons. Johnny may be the cool kid that made everyone super stupidly jealous because of how he looks and how he feels as a character, but he will forever be an icon to my childhood.
@TB-xr7sp Plus, I live near Philadelphia, so JT was on CN (post 2008). (2005-06 episodes were on WPHL, now a CW flagship station, and 2006-07 episodes were on WPSG, now a CBS-ran independent station. The station switch in 2006 was due to the debut of the CW and whatever My Network TV was...)
Man, this show was and still is my favourite show to shape my childhood. In fact, Johnny Test helped me boost my art career and gain a lot of confidence. Not to mention, the very small fandom made me meet new friends along the way. Even though I love all versions of the series (even though I haven't played the DS game yet), it surely has a special place in my heart and it shows on my artworks, concepts and so on. Of course, I know the flaws, but frankly what form of media doesn't? I'll continue my contributions to the series and the small fandom with my creativity and curiosity. Sincerely from the second-biggest Johnny Test fan (My best friend, TheLivingBlueJay holds the accolade of the even bigger one), PrismaGalaxy514.
Watched this show on Kids WB & CN, have very good memories with this show & rewatched it as recently as 2019 while I lived in my last apartment, I remember coming home from school & watching it while I ate a after school snack, it’s one of those shows that I will never forget because it got meme’d to hell
For the longest time, I assumed that this entire show was just a long, drawn out fever dream I had considering nobody even acknowledged it exists until I saw this video.
Honestly, yeah. How could we forget? It was on Cartoon Network for so long during the remainder of the early 2000s. Only to come back last year in the form of a reboot. The show used to be a show I honestly liked watching back when it was in Kids WB. The first season was its best season and the best animated season. I get nostalgia every time I think about it.
Fun Fact: The original composer for the show, Kevin Manthei, also composed the music for: Invader Zim, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, Xiolin Showdown, and at least some of the music for generator rex and ben 10.
As many of the series that I watched throughout my childhood, johny test has a hige nostalgic value for me and I remember it as being perfect, even if in reality it s probably not
I loved Johnny Test as a kid. While it wasn’t one of my favorite shows like Generator Rex, Crash & Bernstein, Max Steel, or Ben 10 it’s nice to see another one of my childhood shows still being produced. I thought Ninjago was the only one to do this. I definitely have to check out the revival now!
Honestly I think it worked super well because it was cartoon junkfood. The episodes didnt really have anything special, it was just lights and sounds but coherent enough to entertain kids. I know I'd watch it when i got home from school and enjoy it every time cause it was like... 3 episodes before it'd move on to another show. I really appreciate the new series using the original art style tho I personally find the colored outlines a lil confusing but thats probably just nostalgia goggles.
In middle school I went on a field trip in which we went to an arts centre, and the studio that animated Johnny test had a presentation. At the end of the presentation they gave away an animation cel to a random student, I've always wondered what happened to that cel lol
I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW, THE ONLY SHOW THAT I ACTUALLY STILL REMEMBER AND HOLD DEEPLY IN MY HEART, ITS SO FUNNY, ENTERTAINING, AND JUST A VERY GOOD SHOW TO WATCH!!!! I hate the hate surrounding the show, its undeserved, the whip racks aren't even that bad, heck I actually like that about the show, its like its signature track, I wish Mary tho gets an episode about herself, she's often left out.
I watched the original as a kid, I honestly really liked it, but I have ABOSOLUTELY no recollection of what seasons I was watching then. The one with Johnney Applesauce was my favorite growing up lmao. I always was under the impression that it was a great show. And seeing how the creator also made BIG TIME RUSH, literally my #1 favorite TV show, it's easy for me to see how. The creator of Big Time always did have an abundance of sound effects in his shows, I always adored (some of) them growing up, but honestly, I remember them more fondly in Big Time than Ned's Survival Guide or Johnny Test. That's just my thoughts though
Who could forget Johnny Test? Before Gumball and TTG, it was THE filler between all the good shows like Regular Show, Adventure Time, Mystery Inc, etc. Except this time, it was actually good. It wasn't just another filler cartoon from Canada, it had snappy wit and crazy characters punctuated by whipcracks at every second. I miss it, now there's nothing on CN anymore
There’s a very special place in my heart for Johnny test it was my childhood and a nice comfort show to still watch at least my favourite episodes and the theme song
I REMEMBER THIS SHOW!!! It was my life and still is as I have always thought that Johnny Test was an amazing show on Cartoon Network as I felt like I was being seen in him as I was like him when I was little because I sometimes was just like him 😅
This is a show I thought I remembered fondly, but watching your video really dug up a lot of memories about the show I forgot. I’m realizing I barely remembered the show at all which is sad because I watched it so much and so much of my childhood is tied to it (as I remember the show more I remember more of when I was younger).
this show was a guilty pleasure of mine when i was younger, now that im older i think the hate is very over blown particularly towards the animation, like its not great but season 1 at the least was hand drawn and not enough people talk about that its really nice looking
I loved this show. My favorite episodes were Johnny Vs Bling Bling Boy 3 because of the Looney Tunes part in the episode. JTV because it always made me wonder if I made a tv show and it nailed it. The Pokemon episodes (specifically the 2nd one). The reason why is I love anime and Johnny Test nailed it down. Johnny Applesauce because I love the comedy in the episode and the song Dukey sings. Finally, the first two episodes with Brain Freezer because in the first episode, Bling Bling Boy got a win and whenever I watch that episode and how he got treated later on, it feels nice. The second episode was awesome because the final minutes was so good because it caught me off guard.
My friend and I actually DID make a drinking game out of Johnny test. Every time you hear a whip crack, take a sip. Not a full drink, just a little sip. We both emptied two bottles in a single 11 minute episode
You’re amazing for dropping a video every day till Christmas. I in fact, did hate this show 😂😂😂😂 I’ll definitely take your advice and check the Netflix series out. Hopefully it’s a better experience
I actually quite loved Johnny Test when I was younger. I wasnt too fond of the fart jokes, the constant whip crack, or the switch to Flash animation (even if that part was probably done to save money). But, I was fond of the characters, their roles and personalities, and their interpersonal dynamics. And despite not being much of a STEM girl (unless a technology obsession counts), Susan and Mary's experiments were often my favorite part of an episode. I had no idea there was a Netfliz revival! I may give it a watch after I rewatch the original series sometime. P.S. I was today years old when I learned Ashleigh Ball was a VA in Johnny Test 🥴
I didn't think this was old enough to be in your "Wait... Remember" series. I think there's still some shows from the 90's or early 2000's you could cover, like Beast Wars with their wonky early CG, or Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, or Teen Titans
Johnny Test was fire. I clearly remember watching it on Cartoon Network back in the day. Fun fact, this show was created by Scott Fellows. If you dont know who Scott Fellows is, He created both Ned's Declassfied and Big Time Rush for Nickelodeon.
Johnny Test is special to me because it kinda changed the way kid me viewed animation. I would only watch ''Girl cartoons'' and refused to watch any other kind of cartoon. One day my cousins came over and they watched Johnny Test. I sat down and watched with them and i loved it. After that day i started watching everyting. I loved the anime-ish art style of some cartoons (Bakugan, Monsuno, Beyblade, Generator Rex, Ben 10, Avatar etc.) so much i started drawing every day. Now i'm a freshman animation school and it's all thanks to Johnny Test lol.
I feel like a rarity in that I genuinely enjoy the show while also agreeing every single criticism is true, and I mean ALL of them. Honestly what think the show did best but never embraced was escalating scenarios to absolute chaos, without it feeling out of place, make me question or feel cheated how we got there. It’s a show where one minute it’s about trying to make the word’s best sandwich and it’ll somehow turn into stopping meat monsters from taking over the world. I haven’t watched the Netflix show, mostly not having the money to subscribe to a streaming service, so If it does embrace the chaos more I’d like hear it.
Thanks so much for watching! Do you prefer the original Johnny Test series or the newer Netflix version of Johnny Test?
*whip crack noises intensify*

And ever since OK KO was finished due to a major mess at Warner media, I reverted back to Test and I explored and enjoyed a shitload of Canadian cartoons. Johnny may be the cool kid that made everyone super stupidly jealous because of how he looks and how he feels as a character, but he will forever be an icon to my childhood.
Yeah, then I watched cartoon network and Disney XD
@TB-xr7sp Plus, I live near Philadelphia, so JT was on CN (post 2008).
(2005-06 episodes were on WPHL, now a CW flagship station, and 2006-07 episodes were on WPSG, now a CBS-ran independent station. The station switch in 2006 was due to the debut of the CW and whatever My Network TV was...)
I had no idea there was a netflix reboot/sequel. I might check it out someday, I loved this show as a kid.
One thing that is good to mark, is that if the Netflix version still does good, that may help to see more old shows have a revival.
I think you meant late 2000s
Yeah, I unfortunately do. Now I can't hear whips without the themesong playing in my head
okay im getting old because i absolutely remember johnny test and here you are doing a video on it
Fun Fact: The original composer for the show, Kevin Manthei, also composed the music for:
Invader Zim, Brandy and Mr.
This show has more whip cracks than my cousin's uncle's grandpa's sister's father's belts.
In middle school I went on a field trip in which we went to an arts centre, and the studio that animated Johnny test had a presentation. At the end of the presentation they gave away an animation cel to a random student, I've always wondered what happened to that cel lol
hell yes i remember johnny test, i wouldn’t be who i am without him
I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW, THE ONLY SHOW THAT I ACTUALLY STILL REMEMBER AND HOLD DEEPLY IN MY HEART, ITS SO FUNNY, ENTERTAINING, AND JUST A VERY GOOD SHOW TO WATCH!!!! I hate the hate surrounding the show, its undeserved, the whip racks aren't even that bad, heck I actually like that about the show, its like its signature track, I wish Mary tho gets an episode about herself, she's often left out.
I agree, this was one of my favorite shows :)
I love your videos so much Jordan Fringe keep up the good work Man
Thanks so much!
I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, it’s a classic and everyone definitely 100% enjoyed it as a kid.
It's a great show
this show was a guilty pleasure of mine when i was younger, now that im older i think the hate is very over blown particularly towards the animation, like its not great but season 1 at the least was hand drawn and not enough people talk about that its really nice looking
i hate this show with every fiber of my being.
@@Keeby219 no idea why people hated it, I love the show
@@velvetdarksoul8741 i get why but making hate art for it was admittedly very childish lol
Remember camp Lakebottom.
Its always fun watching your channel and thanks for great content
Am I the only one who binged this?
Me too
"Wait remember Johnny Test?"
.....I tried to forget it....
Someone has actually done the Johnny test whip crack sound effect drinking game. It went as well as you can expect.
All the sound cues, from the whiplashes to the tubas to the guitar riffs, are etched into my mind forever because I watched this a lot as a kid.
I really liked this show growing up, and my older brother still makes fun of me for it
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE JORDAN THXXXXX
I think we can all relate to Bling Bling, who among us hasn't fallen prey to the powers of a nerdy redhead at least once?
Oh how could I forget they still show reruns of it in my country every few months or so
I loved this show.
Johnny:”Finally, someone else whose the Guinea Pig!”
You’re amazing for dropping a video every day till Christmas. I in fact, did hate this show 😂😂😂😂
I’ll definitely take your advice and check the Netflix series out. Hopefully it’s a better experience
i never forgot johnny test at all. heck it even has a netflix show with the same voice actors and everything.
>why did you resist a police officer?
>why are you police officers?
>I blew up Malaysia
an actual funny joke in Johnny Test
Johnny Test appearing in your "Wait... Remember" series just makes me feel old
The classic of classics
Thanks Jordan Fringe for this video brings back good 😊😊 memories really liked the show 😊😊
I Love Johnny Test!
And I'm Also Constantly Reminded Of Him Due To Nicktendo! 👍
Used to love this show. Haven’t seen a full episode in years.
I loved this show as a kid, a lot of nostalgia for me
I miss this so much. Started it when i was 5 or something and miss it. Thank you for the nostalgia
A lot of good afternoons after school to come home to this awesome show ❤
I didn't think this was old enough to be in your "Wait... Remember" series. I think there's still some shows from the 90's or early 2000's you could cover, like Beast Wars with their wonky early CG, or Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, or Teen Titans
I love how his super smart, super hot, and super perfect sisters who solve all the problems inexplicably are named Mary and Sue.....
That's clever
Johnny Test is short for Johnathan Testiclе
Lol
