I cried (to myself) as the new owner drove the car away. I know I shouldn’t feel this way but I never did forgive my dad for that.
I am 73 years old now. When I was 21 I had a 61 white Jaguar roadster and a 65 black Jaguar hard top that i had purchased off a lot in Los Gatos, Ca for $2500. The 65 had a full syncro transmission that was a great improvement over previous years. Years later, I was shopping in a men's store with my son for some clothing when the beautiful young women clerk said i know you,. you lived down the street from me and had two Jaguar XKE's. She was a young child at the time i am sure. You don't see these on the road much anymore since they are all valued above $100,000, dollars now.

Although I am for leaving cars alone, I believe this one would be better repainted, so long as it’s done properly, which of course we all know you will. Great knowledge on all these Brit cars built within 40 miles of where I was brought up but 150mph, never. Not in std form. The 150 recorded on the press car was from a blueprinted & tweaked engine. The 4.2 engine could do 150. The S.U. carburrettors have brass damper hexagonal. That's rare. Also looks as if it's still on cross ply tyres, nice for oorihinalith but a guaranteed vist to the hedgerow backwards in the first sign of damp.
They are only ORIGINAL once. The real value of the car is in its originallity. Let the next guy screw it up. !!!!! There is a BLACK SERIES ONE COUPE in the permanent display section of the NEW YORK METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF MODERN ART. Glory Hallelujah.

It's Such a shame that the paint has gone. Cars that have been sat outside don't usually suffer like thar, even the manifold is like new. Personally I would keep it as is, loose the white walls and try and do a bit of paint correction.

Dennis, for the planet's sake, urge you to switch from single use cups, liners, and stir sticks, to insulated stainless steel or ceramic mug (perhaps with Collins Brothers logo on one side and Coffee Walk on the other) and a long stemmed soda spoon. And for your sake, switch from processed sweeteners and creamers to the real thing. You can thank me later.

Enzo Ferrari was right, XKE Jaguars (it's pronounced Jag - U - R and not Jagwar), are the most beautiful cars ever made.
