Thank you for saving that 1967 Ford Fairlane. I had one, lots of work, had to sell it before it was done. When its complete it has a beautiful look to it, just standing still. I prefer the Cragars, but the dog dish caps are ideal for the period look.

Kind of depends on the build you are going for; dog dish steelies for a cool sleeper or Cragars for a little more noticeable performance. Nice builder either way

Love the Fairlane-my high school buddy called me one day to look at his-it was a Lime Gold car with a 390-he said the accelerator pedal was stuck to the floor-I got there and discovered that it was indeed stuck to the floor-after scratching my head for a minute, I realized that the car had broken in half at the torque box, and the pedal linkage was pulling the throttle open-a shame, it was a cool car-I wanted to get my own, but all of the cars in my area, (Cleveland), were hopelessly rusted-you have a very cool project!

Luvit My 1st car, I was only 14 so I never got to drive it. 6 cylinder automatic on column bench seat. Paid $60 for it from a neighbor. Ran good rebuilt engine, interior trashed, huge dent in quarter panel. Had dreams but no money. Junk yard only gave me $35 for it. I’d be interested in this one to build because of that history.

That dude who bought the Jag and was shaking hands with Dennis and Richard set the record for a solo run! Incredible. What’s more incredible is that he thought long and hard about which vehicle to use, and he had made the run before, and had friends and lots of experience. He picked a newer Mustang GT. He removed the passenger seat, the back seat, and added fuel cells such that he had 150 gallons of capacity for fuel. He put an LED light bar in the front bumper where the license plate had been. He can attest from experience that those cars top out at 159mph, a speed he says he held it at for a few hours at least! He did ONE fill up. He picked the Mustang because he did some calculations and figured that it best met some criteria, best fuel efficiency at higher speeds, with lower drag coefficient, but could be modified to hood the amount of fuel he needed to make as few stops as possible, shooting for one stop. It also needed to be able to handle high speeds well, and actually attain very high speeds. He settled on the Mustang. Here’s the kicker. It was a RENTAL! Afterwards he removed his mods, put everything back the way it was supposed to be, and replaced the tires with the exact same model. He said that when he returned it, you would have to not only know the cars inside and out to find any evidence, but you would have to know that car in particular. Incredible. Imagine doing that. Balls. Balls.

This is one of my all time favorite Fords that I always wanted but never did find one that did not need a lot of body work. I could only find a real nice 4 dr & that just would not do. I prefer the factory steel 15" wheels with dog dish caps. I think this car deserves to be put back on the road for sure. These are getting hard to find in build-able condition. My older cousin purchased a 1967 Ford Fairlane GT. It was equipped with the 390 FE & 4 spd. top loader, bucket seats & console. I rode in it a few times, I loved the car. Thanks for another great video Tim.
