    Hi Everyone, who has this concept nailed and who needs to work on it?

    • @nicholas1460
      @nicholas1460 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm working on ensuring that I get a good backswing hinge. I find when over the ball I tend to block it and don't get a full backswing. One thought I've been working on is to feel like I hindge early and quickly. The really hard part, IMHO, is the tempo, feeling like I'm relaxed at the top and ready to start with the hips.

      @@nicholas1460 I would be careful you don’t over hinge your wrists. You must leave some room in the tank with regards to not maxing out your range of motion otherwise you’ll cast in the downswing

      Hi Giles! This was first time of hearing this concept, and i practiced this inside (been playing golf only a year). I noticed that firstly it feels a way different that im used to, and also i feel lot more pressure on my trail hand than before, i was so focused not to cup my left hand earlier. Also noticed that i must work more with my trail wrist than before, almost had no wrist load at all on my swing. Defenitely going to work on this more!

    Hi Giles, Adam Bazelgette, Scratch Golf Academy uses the paintbrush analogy. You two are the best on youtube.

    That was a great lesson. The key to good ball striking. I worked this out some time ago and instantly added yardage and with less dispersion.

    Very cool! Can’t wait to give this a try. I get a stand and remote for my phone in order to record my swings tomorrow!
    From one teacher to another, you’ve got a great method. Easy to understand and not overwhelming. The AMG guys are great, but their videos are hard to digest for me.

    Just curious your thoughts on how does steve stricker (i love his swing) "seem" to make wide to wide work?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      He l has less speed so he is a shorter hitter but he uses rotation really well to square the face with good shaft lean

    I like the one arm drill & I have been practicing it by first doing small swings & gradually lengthening it out.

  • @joefitzgerald3752
    @joefitzgerald3752 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've not thought about this move especially since the forward swing is only slightly more than 1/4 second. I can imagine the improved results, if done correctly, so I'll try the drills to train myself. Thanks for the video. It has me intrigued. Please confirm that loading the right wrist is a different wrist movement than hinging the right wrist.

      No they are very similar patterns

  • @xerodeus2337
    @xerodeus2337 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    being wider in the backswing really helped me with swallowing out my club and getting way more height on my irons. Is this shaft angle/pattern the same with Driver and Woods do you think?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is basically the same with all clubs. Might be slightly wider with longer clubs

    I get the best backswing hinge feeling the weight of the clubhead set the top of the backswing rather than thinking of club positions to hinge the backswing to the top. The arms are passive and the wrists loose.

      Different way of feeling what this is saying. The key is knowing the concept and moving it into your words/your feelings which you’ve done 👍🏻

  • @stickgs

    Good ideas for rhythm too. Highly recommend that one practice this off of a tee with slow 3/4 swings. Practicing off a tee allows for a smooth easy transition and tempo without worrying about where the ball is going or hitting down on the ball. p.s. I'm a former PGA Class A Professional.

    Let me tell you what frustrates me: the right arm only swing you do at 5:00 is something I do to loosen up and get the flow of the swing. I do it just like you do and it feels natural and all that. Then (and you know where I'm heading with this) I put both hands on the club and try to hit a ball. Completely different and wrong swing. I throw my shoulders at the ball, which makes me fell like throwing my club at a tree.
    As a teacher, you've no doubt dealt with students who have trouble bringing a good practice swing to their real swing. Can you impart any advice on the subject? Thanks for your help.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly check your grip to make sure you have it in the correct part of the hands, secondly make sure you’re relaxed in your wrists and forearms. Tension will hurt you massively here. Finally make sure your clubface is in a good position.

    playing on and off for 40 years - i maybe have solid contact on shots 20% of the time - i just turned 69 years old - and maybe i hit my driver 175 yds on average and cant hit a 5 iron more than 130 yards - i seem to be getting worse as i age - ive tried literally 15 different ways to swing from many on youtube - nothing really works for more than 1 or 2 times - im so tired of guys telling me that start off taking half swings - everyone says that - everyone says give their method a chance - for me if im not improving at all after 2 weeks im out of that system
