Overwatch 2, Warcraft 3: Reforged, WoW, Warcraft: Arclight Rumble, Diablo: Immortal. And that's just the games lmao.
Blizzard's last few years have been abominable.
Since everything is going digital, more games should make the first half hour of the game a free demo.
When you're already having fun playing, you're more inclined to impulse buy the game to continue playing.
Nintendo already does this and it's working well.
Not only that but it helps stop pirating, there have been drops in piracy for games that included a demo version. Sometimes pirates just want to see if the game is worth the investment before spending money, and they're not just harr harrrr I'll take yer profits matey
I think Xbox game pass is the closest thing that the other consoles have. I don't think I'd have played Outer Wilds if it wasn't free and now it's in my top 10 games of all time. But I agree, more free gaming is a good way to entice more play. I think the demo model would work much better especially if it carries over progress once you buy it, not sure if Nintendo does this but that'd be a huge plus

I feel like the pie chart also explains why AAA games sometimes feel creatively bankrupt. Much easier to guarantee sales of popular IP's and proven genres/mechanics
When you started talking about the battle pass it reminded of my sister who played a game that was just about house decoration, but it still had a “battle pass” in it that had rewards like new ferns and wallpapers😂😂
damnn man. advertising invading games feels so... dystopic. it's like paying for the "privilidge" to spend more money or to be plugged into a stream of advertising.
Play indie games! They're better, cheaper, and don't have shit like this.
@@TheMarkoSeke theyre not always better, and also a far different experience. They fill very different voids in what you might wanna play. You'll never get the polish of a 3D mario game with even the best indie 3D platforms, not that theyre bad, they just have different niches. Due to less budget, theyre usually able to be more expirimental and are cheaper. Its just life.

2k used to be good at this. Hitting the point in 2k myplayer where your character was popular enough to design his own signature shoe with whatever brand you wanted was so rewarding and fit with the gameplay so well while advertising the shoe brands unobtrusively

Dude that at some point mentally taxing thing is so true. I stopped spending money on league for 2 years and finally caved a year ago. I now probably spend at least 10 bucks every couple months. It's easier to just spend on skins in your "personal sale store" than look at them and let them haunt your dreams lol.

This is honestly a huge reason why indie games give me more of the escapism I crave from games than AAA titles these days.
My favorite is that after fortnite and avengers did that endgame collab in-game that everyone loved. They then unveiled another collab… mid-movie… that everyone hated
Watching all of these marketing Monday videos has brought light upon what I shall do with my life. Where I will go for my foreseeable future, and that is probably working on cash registers for the rest of my life
I think skate 3 does a good job of in game advertising. billboards showing miracle whip and even a trick named miracle whip is unobtrusive and the miracle whip brand sticks in the back of my head, especially because the miracle whip trick is relatively hard to do and is a cool trick.

The dude who used to run EA has said it multiple interviews that all the games are built around the psychology of the addiction of gambling. Pure money making at the expense of the mental health of the customers.
Yakuza in game ads work because its all things you would buy in a japanese corner store so it increases the immersion

It actually worked though because now every time I pass a Nissan leaf I laugh about the Sims DLC and it generates pure happiness for me, so it's actually pretty true to real life.

I think 2 of the in game ads I like is when they either put those ads buildings ONLY in a game with a modern world and the ones they've done for Mario Kart, Rocket League, and Forza Horizon, where you could use the real life vehicles.

Big A i would love to see what you would also have to say about game advertising when it's not actually in the game such as apex and their monster cans which I think genuinely works
Assassins Creed is obviously a horrible example, but I feel like for stuff like GTA or Cyberpunk having ads of real brands actually helps immersion. Similar to racing games featuring real cars and not knock-off models where you can clearly tell this is supposed to be a Porsche but they couldnt get a licensing deal.
The best advertising in gaming was Mariokart 8 with the Mercedes cars. That shit was so funny

Stores do not make 33 percent on AAA games. Generally speaking they make 6-12 dollars if sold at the full 60 retail. This is why Walmart sells new release games for $50. They break even or loose money on most of them but selling snacks and a can of monster is a great margin for them. And if you grab some batteries or groceries while you're there anyways they do extra well.

idk if it's exactly the same but Siege sometimes makes gun skins or charms of their esports sponsors like Corsair or Acer Predator and they're free and look pretty good.

Hey Atrioc for Marketing Monday can you take a look at bad marketing decisions eg. Battlefront 2 and play a sort of devil's advocate to explain why they would do those things from a professional perspective?
i think in cities in games like wyndon from pokemon swosh with on the building s irl ads would be cool since its just on the background
When I think off in game advertising the first thing that pops into my mind is Pikmin 2. I think it’s some of the best for in game marketing.
Fortnite also has a weird thing with a different game inside it called save the world and there you can get the v buck stuff whitout paying anything else than the gamemode, like 50 per day from a daily mission and 150 a week from logging in

Hint for future aspiring streamers who for whatever reason need to divide a circle into 1/3.
Think of a clock. 1/3 of 12 is 4 so 12-4, 4-8, 8-12 or any other form of 4 hours of your mental clock will be 1/3 of the circle.
Easiest way to mentally divide up a circle by far.

Interesting him saying about games in the US always being around $60, where i live as a kid they were always around £30 and now cus of inflation they are around £60, my family no longer buys me games at Christmas anymore because of how much they cost. When you think about how much a console costs its crazy how much they will then charge for the games.

I think fall guys did micro transactions well. You could earn kudos in game but also pay for them, the battle pass is free, and you cannot pay for the special ingame currency

Sucks he did this a while ago. Rocket League just launched a Ford F-150 as campaign and its honestly one of the best campaigns I've seen in a game. I'd love to see Atrioc cover it.
