Love that you mention the Yakuza series here, but you left out that it also contains one of the greatest examples of actually very blatant advertising in games: In the series spinoff Judgment, there's an entire sidequest chain that is straight-up just an ad for the Japanese steakhouse chain Ikinari Steak, where you meet and befriend the actual then-company president as an in-game NPC-- and I'm not gonna lie, it's so blatant that it comes back around to being actually kind of brilliant. I unironically adore that substory.
I'm currently playing the game. And I never in a million years would've guessed that that is an ad. But that makes it good, because if you don't know the restaurant or the people involved you would have no idea, and if you do well I guess it's just a neat ad.
Its that time of year to watch a grown ass man sit on a medicine ball and tell you in depth about some shit you really dont care about but for some reason are still very entertained. We missed ya Jakey.

i dont have a brother, wish i did though. my sister is a complete kleptomaniac narcissist compulsive liar who stole things from me all throughout my childhood. she stole my xbox to give to her boyfriend, she stole over half of my clothes, she stole money from me multiple times, she even stole my 2,000 dollar macbook that I worked for months to get, and I only got it back because I had a tracker on it. My parents always believed her because she was the favorite child.
She lies for no reason and makes up stories about herself to make her seem more interesting. She claimed that multiple guys in her high school r@ped her, and then once our parents went to the police, she broke down and told us that she was lying because she wanted pity because her boyfriend broke up with her.
In the end, I really with I had a brother, and get help Rachael. Don’t end up in police custody for the 7th time for stealing items from retail stores! You’re 18 now, and you’ll end up in prison!

As someone named Brian, I would like to formally apologize to both the viewers and to Mr. Naked Jacob for my behavior during this video. Driving while texting was negligent and I now see how I put not only myself and Mr. Jacob in danger but also all the others around us. My favourite for these were the ads in the rainbow Six Vegas games (mostly the first I believe), that if I remember right would change if you were online. It was a "dynamic ad system".
And when those ad servers were shutdown, recently, it screwed with the game itself. Werent able to play the game online due to that.

It was wild as soon as Jakey mentioned Brian blazing trails on the track because a friend and I in high school had a character we'd joke about called Johnny that was basically just an idiot kid whose stupidity led to many unfortunate injuries but his one saving grace was he was insanely fast. Probably doesn't mean much to anyone but that bit in the video was trippy as hell for me.

I genuinely like the way devs handled game ads in the late 90s/early 2000s. Gran turismo ads on the cars and banners, fifa with ads on the walls of the fields etc... it was so immersive

Man, could you believe if a company did a top tier HD remaster/remake of one of the most GOATed racing games of the PS2 era to high praise and acclaim from reviewers, only to drop in a battle pass and premium cosmetics after the fact to sneak them past reviewers, early adopters, and even the goddamn rating boards. Man me either, on an unrelated note, did anyone else play Crash 4, man it was so cool to see a remake team work on an original title.

I first saw you when i was 14-5, it was about how 28 days later would be a effing badass game (Which it still totally would).
I am older now and so much happens in between your uploads i completley forget that i ever watched you.
However each and everytime your little headass pops up into my feed, and i hear that voice on that Yoga ball you send me straight back to that feeling of fu****ng Awe about everything related to gaming or music or whatever the fu**, that feeling of it being new and exciting and like not a bad place all the time.
