I've seen this clip a number of times on MTV back in 2009 and it stuck in my head, I have been searching for it since that time. It turned into an annual pilgrimage through the web for me, I would sit down once every couple of months and spend the night searching for it on youtube. Today I finally found, I could barely control myself, I have not felt so happy for a long while . . .
If you’re listening to this is 2020, you’re one of the coolest persons out there... just so you know edit: if you’re here after 2020, yes, you’re still cool, very cool
After I passed my final test during college I hopped in my car to go home and this song started playing. Hearing those first few guitar notes will always resonate with me and remind me of all the good times I had during college and the satisfaction in knowing that it's finally over. Such a good song.
I'm crying so much because I've just discovered Passion Pit. The music evokes so much emotion from me. Emotions that I can't explain. I'm in love with the music.
Nostalgia just hit me right in the chest right now. I was like 16 or 17 the first time I came across this song and life just seemed so calm back then, days felt endless. Now I am here feeling the weight of the world in my shoulders.
I FOUND IT. I could genuinely cry. I listened to Running on a Treadmill by Oingo Boingo and the brass parts reminded me of a song I’d heard years ago that I loved… just couldn’t remember what it was. It hurt not to know what it was. I kept holding onto the brass bits in the Oingo Boingo song trying to hear this song in my head. Just now, I thought of a fruit. Something tickled my brain and I felt myself getting closer!! I knew it was similar to the genre of Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap or the vibe of Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear. I thought passion fruit and searched it, knowing I was so very close. I kept scrolling and SOMEHOW Sleepyhead by Passion Pit was there. I knew that wasn’t the song but I kept going. I HAD the artist, I just needed to find the song. I recognized this one and waited so enthusiastically for 2:42 to arrive. Ahhhhh…. bliss.
For a really long time I couldn’t deal with listening to hip hop because none of the rappers at that time resonated with me lyrically. It was listening to bands like Passion Pit, The XX, The Strokes, Lykki Ly, and so many others that made it such a “you had to be there” time ♥️
Me, I cried out.. "God" you dared me in the dark I felt a hush fall quietly from my spark So now I hide in piles of princely orange peels It feels the way you told me how it'd always feel ~
If passion pit dropped today it would have been so much more appreciated. I know that may be a bit of a controversial opinion because today's audience changes their mind in an instant and there's also a lot of competition but passion pit really is special and the early 2000's audience was not the best fit.
I actually think that it's because there was SO much amazing music being released at that time, but also so much of a similar STYLE, like MGMT, Empire of the Sun, The naked and the famous etc, it was easy for Passion Pit's genius to get lost in it all. Agreed that if they came around today they'd blow the fucking roof off the place.
This song has a really sad feel to it. It reminds of how I feel like I have to grow up but I don't want to. Idk, maybe that's just the state I'm in. Where I literally have an existential crisis everyday :p life sucks...
+̶ ̶C̶r̶o̶s̶s̶m̶y̶h̶e̶a̶r̶t̶ ̶ Everyone feels like this at some point of their lifes. Life itself doesn't have any meaning, just find out the things or the people that you love and make you feel good and stick to them. Even when you are feeling down, you will be able to recover your mood and keep going. In the end, optimism and happiness are the key for living :)
man i was going through the same thing as you like 6 years ago. i literally balled my heart to this song and to this album. its okay man. i hope you find a path. As much as life sucks these thoughts and feelings are necessary for your growth. I firmly believe that. You are unique. And some obstacles for certain people are a lot tougher than others.
i really dig these guys because the synthesizers are spacey and the guitars are shimmery and lush, but the acoustic drums keep it properly down to earth and accessible, somehow.
I love this song so much, has to be one of my top songs made by you guys, every time it comes on my playlist i cant help but smile. I have noticed more shows are being preformed and singles, i hope this may mean some new music soon but i love american blood to. im only 14 and it pains me to not see more people my age enjoy this music since i grew up with you guys playing in my house. Keep up the good work and i hope you all truely understand the joy you have spread to many across this small planet
That's exactly how i feel lol. Alot of their songs won't sound good, but after a while you really get hooked. This song is so underrated, and in my opinion is definately their best song ever.
Deep, words and music, what is it that every culture no matter how far removed will always develop music, no matter what. Music is as important to life as breathing and sunshine, without it we'd all fade away. Thanks for keeping me here guys.
I remember being like 7 years old when my mom showed me this, and I immediately fell in love with passion. They brought me so much happiness over the years, I thank them for that. They truly were my childhood.
You know, this song always makes me feel good, but for some reason it also makes me feel guilty for all the bad things I've done...Anyone feel the same? wonderfull song/band
I really love this song. The way the keyboard sounds is so good; all the instruments complement each other so well. :D I just found this band randomly yesterday and thoroughly enjoy a lot of it. :D
That's a frosty way to speak, To tell me how to live next to your potpourri All this talking pulls my teeth. Come, come, I hear it calling me, yelling, Like if ever there was someone who could make things heavy again. Feel alive!
You know what good music makes you want to do? It makes you selfish and want to hold the song and keep it close and never share it because its so amazing you want it all for yourself. I just want to keep Passion Pit in my own little box among MGMT, The Neighbourhood and Of Monsters and Men
Could not agree more NikkiXxSimmer ....great list of artistes there as well, all of which i listen to. Tip: Try listening to TheColouristVEVO and Metronomy :)
LandenNation you can download it on your phone. go to convert2mp3 on Google, loom for this song, convert and then download. should appear in whatever music player your phone came with
I got over my ex to this song, I will always love her, but I know my heart knows there is someone else that is better than her out there( I hope). I will always love you LYN.
so glad i got to see these guys live. seriously i suggest you go to the nearest one near you... you wont regret it. so much energy at the live shows so awesome.

Im no where near hipster and I fucking love this music. You people calling this "Hipster music" are idiots. Quit putting labels on things. Everyone likes what they like. Now get over it and move on.
Sitting on the city bus headed to Lakewood mall or Long Beach City College...I remember vividly when my iPod would shuffle to this song. Music is our only true time machine.

Exactly, I listened to "Cry Like a Ghost" and turned it off in the first ten seconds. Then I realized how beautiful that song is. The music is different in Gossamer, but the lyrics still have the "Passion Pit" feel.
if this music makes me a hipster well god damn finally! if starbucks makes me a white girl then who cares because it is damn good. if these are the labels that matter then im fucking everything :)
Glad to see some people actually realize that there's nothing wrong with Vevo on youtube. I seriously think that all the people who hate Vevo don't even have a solid reason for it.

I truly don't understand why people think "hipster" is a derogatory term. I love when people call me a hipster. I take it as a high compliment. To me, hipsters are: Caring, Eco-friendly, organic food lovers, vegan/vegetarian, animal cruelty aware, conservationists, and peaceful. That sounds to me like a pretty awesome "trend".
I miss this band so much. I hope Michael is doing well, the music industry needs people like him who talk about the realities of life.

to Foster the People...
I guess these are my favorite bands when it comes to relaxation :)

My favorite band and song of all time.

One the most underrated songs of all time.
Yup, this brings me back to freshman year of college......the good times.
Whenever I feel bummed out, passion pit never fails to lift my spirit.
Their bass lines are incredibly simple but give the song so much emotion.
Underrated song
Very. More people should know about Passion Pit. ❤

Me: “Im not a perfect person”
I've listened to this song a total of 14 times today, and i don't plan on stopping

how much more did you listen?
The synth in this song reminds me quite a bit of that used in many Kraftwerk songs. Their influence is almost inescapable.
Bella canción para empezar un nuevo día..
“I’M NOT A PERFECT PERSON!”
They do cool stuff!
10 hour loop please?!
Why not just install spotify or convert this into an mp3 file and download it?

yo nunca he estado
me siento vivo!
en mí, yo grité "Dios"
me desafiaste a ir a la oscuridad
sentí un silencio caer calladamente desde mi chispa
así que ahora me escondo en pilas de cáscaras de naranjas
se siente de la forma que me contaste como se siente siempre
