Well, since we're in a jurassic mood, may I suggest Jurassic Park: Trespasser? Your lifebar is literally an heart tattoo on your character's right boob which you have to look down on every time you want to check your health. Also, your left arm is broken. So to aim you have to rotate your right hand, slowly, mind you. That won't stop you from using shotguns, for some reason.
Trespasser was not a good game even by that time period. You had very little view distance relative to the landscape, you couldn't really use Melee weapons, and doing any sort of gunplay kind of sucked. But it was a really really faithful game, lots of cool dialogue and secrets, and it was certainly innovative with the way it let you interact with physics. Still, it came out 1 year after Goldeneye: 007 and 2 years before Halo:CE so it isn't exactly excusable. Loved it for the record.

The Call Of Duty franchise is one of the biggest offenders of Artificial Difficulty. All they did on the hardest difficulty was have the enemies throw non-stop grenades, have pinpoint accuracy no matter the distance, and be able to kill you with just a bullet or two!
I might actually be lucky i found this one, since this is a north american release exclusive and i got in malta of all places at their comic con for 13e so on the rather cheaper side in 2022. Yeah it is not really all that great but it is a fun shooter for someone like me who likes dinosaur shooters like Dino Crisis and Turok, we really need to see those comeback.
Having played the ps2 version, it honestly isn't that bad. The framerate chugs during the "boss fights" but its actually perfectly playable. The graphics are more or less the same as well, just with a lower resolution, of course. This game was probably originally developed with the ps2/Wii in mind, then lazily ported to the 360 after the fact, hence why the performance is so bad. The game isn't good, but it's not offensively bad either. I ended up mildly enjoying my time with it. Because of how short and incredibly easy it is, it's jank and design flaws ultimately never feel too frustrating.
Oh man I had some kinda survival mode demo that I played so much as a kid. Honestly my memory of that is a blur I just remembered the sights and sounds and some of the fear I got out of a raptor damaging me when I was helpless as a kid with no video game skills.
It’s not bad, it’s not great, it’s good. It’s a fun game that gives us a glance at what a Jurassic Park FPS could’ve been like. (I mean, one that actually functions right.)
Downloaded the Demo for this years ago, it was just the horde mode, I like horde modes but, I kinda want a couple levels to mess with when trying to make a purchasing decision. Kinda feel like I dodged a bullet now
I think this game would have been golden if it'd came out very early in the 360's life cycle. if the voice acting and graphics had been better, would have been considered a classic.
Calduron even reused the "Adrenaline" mode in a Cabela's game. I dont remember the name of that game, but it is basically Jurassic: The Hunted but with predators
“I could see this being someone’s guilty pleasure” *Me currently playing the game for like the 20th time* Seriously though I get the urge to play it like once a year. I don’t know, just something about a brain dead shooter game with dinosaurs is inherently fun
that's insane if you have to press Y to switch weapons, in Alan Wake, came out the same year, you use the D-Pad to switch weapons. Left for the flare gun, Up for Two handed weapon (shotgun, pump action shotgun, or hunting rifle), right for revolver, down for flares and down twicer for flashbang grenade Nice and simple
"Hey, let's make a control scheme for use in an FPS with 4 weapons." "Okay. Usually you swap weapons with Y, but if there's more than three, it gets a bit ridiculous. How 'bout we map that to the D-Pad." "No." "Why?" "Because we need somewhere to put Interact." "But wouldn't that be mapped to X?" "But we're already using that for Reload." "Can't we have multiple uses for a single button?" "No, that would be too confusing." "Fine. What else?" "Let's give it sprint." "Sure, let's do that. We can make it toggle, right?' "No. But we can make aim toggle for our halo-style controls for some reason." "WTF."
JarekTheGamingDragon I know! The only reason I remember those prices was because I worked as a temp at Gamestop for Christmas and was working when the copies came in. Me and the other associate remarked how terrible the game must be and how overpriced it was. We only got three copies of the PS2 version and they sat there for a long time. Of course the thought of paying $39.99 for a PS2 in 2008 was ludicrous.
After this video I went out and bought this game. I love it. I play it whenever I’m bored and it’s my guilty pleasure but I can’t even say I’m guilty about it because it is fun. Ridiculous fun! Thank you for bringing this to my attention! :)
Some people say that Payback obviously doesn't run on modern PC because it is old, being released in 2007. Meanwhile I still play pre-2007 games on my PC that can run any current AAA game, without any problem!
there was an RTS I played a demo of as a kid where it was sort of in a semi modern time sort of ww2 but instead it follows a middle age style with dinosaurs
I was addicted to this game when I was in 4th grade. Not to mention I grew up on the Wii which is how I played the game. I used the Cabela's Wii blaster and it seemed to be no more different than any other fps I played on the Wii. Now that being said I tried to Play it again recently and I could not get used to the Wiimote lol
I remember playing this game on the Wii as a kid. I know, it's awful! But the nostalgia is real. I kind of want to pick it up and play it again just so I can remember my childhood.
When this shit came out I was so hyped for it because of how much I loved the first 2 Dino Crisis games my parents got me the ps2 port cuz I didnt really play the ps3 a lot at the time and I remember really liking it up until the ending. It felt so rushed and I thought there was more levels but nope nothing. Just some shitty sequel bait cliffhanger ending. That was the first time I was ever betrayed by a game and it still hurts to this day.
i had it for the wii when i was younger(might still have it lying around, idk). The cursor liked to freeze alot and get you killed in fights. A change of controller and sensor didn't help this
Wow I played this game when I was in elementary school! I completely forgot about it and honestly have a ton of great memories about this game when I was 10. Obviously after your video and replaying it I was not surprised at how bad this game aged and good good this games is awful. But thanks for the nostalgia and I really appreciate the video!
One thing that should have gotten a mention (unless I missed it being mentioned) is that your crosshair blooms when turning instead of moving. This is an extremely awkward and clunky way of implementing reticle bloom that I've only ever seen in a few other low budget titles.
I believe this was one of my first xbox 360 games when i picked up an xbox 360, i had good memories but i didn't get it complete. It was really fun despite being published by activision.
6:35 What, you're serious? I've held 360-style controllers with fingers on both bumpers and triggers at all times, and not doing so just feels completely wrong. Am I really in the minority?
If you want to shoot dinosaurs with a friend, I highly recommend Jurassic Park 2 on the SNES. Great game and real challenge! Only beat it on easy on the SNES but remember even that was certainly no walk in the park.

All one really has to do here to prove your point is go and look at game releases in 2009 and 2010. It's... illuminating.
I used to play the Wii version of this game a lot.
Michael Murphy i had a lot of fun with the 360 version, did u have fun w the wii version¿
I loved this on the wii
me too with the ps2 version. geeez i loved this generic shooter
Love your videos, very informative and it is always nice to see a reviewer playing bad videogames NOT do the "angry videogame nerd" shtick
Really excellent review. Very discerning, excellent diction, excellent editing to prove points etc.
Thank you. Subscribed.
This game is just Secret Service for the PS2, only with dinosaurs instead of terrorists.
The black powder sniper rifle is straight ripped from the History Channel: Civil War game!
And the "modern" weapons are all ripped from Soldier Of Fortune Payback and Secret Service!
I would like to see a remake of Jurassic park trespasser. Using either the unreal 4 or the cryengine. And gameplay similar to The Long Dark
Downloaded the Demo for this years ago, it was just the horde mode, I like horde modes but, I kinda want a couple levels to mess with when trying to make a purchasing decision. Kinda feel like I dodged a bullet now
I really liked this game when i played, it had that bermuda triangle vibes, dinos, and every single weapon i like....
I played this game on my older brothers ps3 when I was like 9 or 10. It’s not that good of a game from an older perspective, but some good memories.
Jarek: *sees shitty game audience might be interested it.*
“Ah shit, here we go again”
I think this game would have been golden if it'd came out very early in the 360's life cycle. if the voice acting and graphics had been better, would have been considered a classic.
You are extremely good to listen to at work! great video love the games you cover.
Calduron even reused the "Adrenaline" mode in a Cabela's game.
I dont remember the name of that game, but it is basically Jurassic: The Hunted but with predators
Honestly SOF4 and this one are my fsvorite meh gsmes
The weapon cycling is the reason I dont have the nuck chorris rex achievement. It takes so long to switch between the rockets and minigun
“I could see this being someone’s guilty pleasure” *Me currently playing the game for like the 20th time* Seriously though I get the urge to play it like once a year. I don’t know, just something about a brain dead shooter game with dinosaurs is inherently fun
12:07 There is a term for that, it's called "Halo 2 on Legendary."
I like the teardowns, the background and development of terrible games is often interesting
that's insane if you have to press Y to switch weapons, in Alan Wake, came out the same year, you use the D-Pad to switch weapons. Left for the flare gun, Up for Two handed weapon (shotgun, pump action shotgun, or hunting rifle), right for revolver, down for flares and down twicer for flashbang grenade Nice and simple
"Hey, let's make a control scheme for use in an FPS with 4 weapons."
"Okay. Usually you swap weapons with Y, but if there's more than three, it gets a bit ridiculous. How 'bout we map that to the D-Pad."
"No."
"Why?"
"Because we need somewhere to put Interact."
"But wouldn't that be mapped to X?"
"But we're already using that for Reload."
"Can't we have multiple uses for a single button?"
"No, that would be too confusing."
"Fine. What else?"
"Let's give it sprint."
"Sure, let's do that. We can make it toggle, right?'
"No. But we can make aim toggle for our halo-style controls for some reason."
"WTF."
I did have the Wii version as a kid and that made the game a whole lot more challenging for me. (probably why I remember it fondly)
In reference the price of this game at launch.
The 360/PS3 versions were $59.99
The Wii version was $49.99
The PS2 version was $39.99
$60 for a 2 hour game. Absolutely insane!
"I'm almost impressed" at making a T-rex fight boring...couldn't stop laughing, great channel!
Some people say that Payback obviously doesn't run on modern PC because it is old, being released in 2007. Meanwhile I still play pre-2007 games on my PC that can run any current AAA game, without any problem!
I loved this game growing up. I h ad an obsession with scifi original movies at the time and this really felt like playing one
Is your snap aiming going slightly to the right off the body?
there was an RTS I played a demo of as a kid where it was sort of in a semi modern time sort of ww2 but instead it follows a middle age style with dinosaurs
I remember playing this back in the day. It was the best dinosaur game I’ve ever played back when I was 5-9
I beat this game on the wii when I was like 10, nostalgia
14:27 dinosaur shooters died out, pun intended?
Please do an analysis on the game Legendary!
i had it for the wii when i was younger(might still have it lying around, idk). The cursor liked to freeze alot and get you killed in fights. A change of controller and sensor didn't help this
I've got so many fond memories of this game. It's a big part of my childhood.
I remember this and i actually liked it it was one of my first games as a kid when i didnt even know any english or how to play videogames properly
I had this game on the PS2, loved it. Had dinosaurs, guns and a cool slow mo X-ray mechanic. My kid mind was blown away by that alone.
Yeah the ps2 was perfectly fine. Sad to see the 360 version was so bad.
The 360 version also has the frame rate problem. I got this game included with my 360 so it wasn’t a complete waste of money.
My guilty pleasure, I'm still waiting for the sequel
😂😂hhhhhh...........same for the sequel😉
In the words of Angry Joe in slow mo, "TWO....HOURS. Two fucking hours"?!
I don't remember it being that short
I get it. It's low-rent Serious Sam. Which is funny because Serious Sam is already a budget title series. I bet the Devs were rushed.
I believe this was one of my first xbox 360 games when i picked up an xbox 360, i had good memories but i didn't get it complete. It was really fun despite being published by activision.
I'm surprised he didn't comment on the music. The boss theme is awesome.
Did u know that if u collected all 50 cal mounted gun parts u unlock it in survival to use , the same one used on the t rex boss .
1:18 the ps2 is incredibly popular in south america, and i bet you many households still have and use a ps2
This was one of my first games on PlayStation 3 and I personally loved this game.
This was a budget game. So I found it pretty solid and fun for its very limited budget.
hello from 2022. i wonder if this game could be backwards compatible and run well on the series x? it looks fun af idc what anyone says. i remember playing the free trial back then
To add to tour points if a game is good enough and its linear thats fine if it's meant to be I mean with little quirks
8:31..little bit of Angry Video Game Nerd there? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??? XD
I remember this game very fondly from my 360 days, but I haven't played it in a LOOONG time.
Honestly, I liked the game
