    Aaagggh! White hot tungsten at 9:14! Really though, I'm just happy I instantly see this and know it's not good.

    So for inside 90's not propped up at a 45, do you just touch the filler rod a bit higher on the vertical side of the joint to keep the puddles even?

    All those settings. I can only change amerage, polarity, post purge time and start or continuous high freq.
    The weld quality is up to me. I can't blame my setup of the machine.

    I have been watching these videos for over a year! I have been trying to tig with not much success I bought tons of stuff, cups gas lenses, and still every weld was terrible!
    Until today I looked at my gas bottle and realised I have a bottle of shielding argon for mig!!! Not straight argo! I can't believe I have been tearing my hair out. At least I know it wasn't amps, balance, gas flow, metal prep! It wasn't the right gas!!!!

    I have really enjoyed and learned from your videos. I noticed on this video that you were welding on a sheet of aluminum as opposed to directly on your steel welding table, Are you using the aluminum as a "chill bar"?

    as always love your content I have a long ways to go before I'm as experienced as you but I'm catching up. (ya nice way of calling you old JK) This video was perfect timing though you really drilled home cleaning and showing how to clean as well as body position even though you didn't mention it you clearly demonstrated it and guess what in the PW community today these basic things you did and talked about is were the big questions from the newer welders asking for help.

    I know aluminum is a different animal when it comes to tig welding, but I was wondering if you ever weld on mild steel? I can only afford a welder that only has an option for DC welding. Id appreciate a response man!

    what welding helmet do you use? The Optrel helmets are pretty pricy...The auto-darkening helmet that I use was one from Harbor Freight. The helmet works just fine for the production MIG work I am using it for at a company that I volunteer for. The darkening knob is on the outside of the helmet and it doesn't click into each setting. It free wheels and when it's bumped it will change the shades, which is annoying. So a piece of duck tape is used to keep it in the shade I need. I want a helmet with the darkening knob inside as this is not working for me at the moment.

      I have a Lincoln viking 3350 PAPR welding hood, when i bought it it was about 1400. I bought it because i discovered stainless tig fumes lol. Still i would recommend the setup, but with one adjustment to what i had gotten, get one with a flip up shade lense, if you get a PAPR.
      The controls on the Lincoln are all on the inside, and has a grind mode switch. With the PAPR setup, it's a pain to switch from welding to grinding, and it's a great hood otherwise.
      Another thing to consider, does the company you are working at supply replacement clear lenses for their welders? Mine did and that influenced my purchase a bit since i didn't need to buy them myself, so if yours does, I'd consider getting a similar model hood that they supply parts for.
      I highly recommend investing in a PAPR hood, welding is a dusty job, the powered filter will greatly reduce what you inhale and help keep you a little cooler under the hood in the summer, and without the sweaty respirator.

    How about some real world dirty thin steel vs new coupons? Everyone does new metal but rusted 50, 60 or 80 year old 18, 19 & 20ga steel repairs & work, I’ve never seen it & yet that’s what I really need to see because that’s where all the problems pop up, not on clean new coupons.

      You can not TIG weld on rusty or dirty material. TIG requires a clean surface.

    • @dblackjr52
      @dblackjr52 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol, givr a shot and see how challenging/mesmerizing and robust this work can be. So easy to melt metal together and make it look like pigeon poop. To make it look good and be strong is more complicated then I could ever imagine. From all the different welding processes to all the different metals and alloys to body positions... It's a worthy subject. But the nuances may not be your cup of tea.
      This dude has great content imo just found him today.

      I’ve had mine for, at least, 6 years now and it’s been great. I ALSO OWN a Miller Dynasty 350 and its an amazing machine. I purchased the everlast 325 EXT for my home shop and, YES, its not the same as the Miller unit, but it works really really well. AND… its about 1/3 the cost of a new miller Dynasty.

    • @jklololol9691
      @jklololol9691 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@kellycoe1787 I’ve had 0 issues out of it and I could not justify paying 5-7k for a welding machine that does the same thing as the everlast. Actually one thing I like more about the everlasting is it has a low amp start you can set up saves me a ton of time welding aluminum. That initial blast from a normal foot petal start kills my tungsten after about 20 starts
