O come, O come, Emmanuel And ransom captive Israel That mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appear Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan's tyranny From depths of Hell Thy people save And give them victory o'er the grave Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here Disperse the gloomy clouds of night And death's dark shadows put to flight. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heavenly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O come, Thou Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height, In ancient times did'st give the Law, In cloud, and majesty and awe. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Listening to it after ~2 years without mass access due to the Covid-19 crisis in Shanghai. I never imagined that life is so tasteless without that Church atmosphere
Thank you Rob for playing and uploading this beatiful hymn. There's something so special about it, that every time we sing it in church I break into tears, it's so powerful. I wish I could play it like you. God bless you .!
I can smell the old wooden pews of Zion Lutheran Church (Maywood, CA) once again. I sure miss these hymns and prefer them over the “modern” music attempted in most churches these days.
Thank You For That Really Appeciated. This Organ is without a doubt the Best Conacher Organ you will find and the sound is amazing when you hear it "Live"
I am really happy that I found this site. Most beautiful organ melodies and hymns played by a most accomplished organist in fact I am certain that Rob is among the worlds ten best organist.
Awww many thanks for that, I'm one of the best on youtube, there's also a few Organist's that I know well on TH-cam - Chris Lawton, David Philps, and Richard Shireby look them up! :o)
I haven't actually seen nor played the organ in Liverpool Cathedral but wouldn't mind getting my hands on it. I have a DVD of it though. I don't play Piano cheers.
Now I see what yo meant about the views Rob. These Christmas hymns from years ago had over 50,000 views! Where did the people go? Has to be something with You Tube. Thanks for this wondrous tune. Another I really love played expertly by you.
Dear Rob; Highly forgetable. A fifth year organ student could just it as well. And if you would like to know why I have said this: please contact me. Sent with love. CVD
+Charles Davis you shouldn't have even made such comment. The way you insulted his work is repulsive. I have come many times to listen to this piece again and this is the first time I leave with a bitter flavor inside my mouth thanks to you. No one would like to know why you said that because it's insulting and not constructive criticism. You should think again before you say such disgusting things..
Thank God this is America. Where even people like you can learn and hopeful improve their listening skills. Sometimes people need a little kick in a__ to get started in the right directly or at least a better direction. Not everyone will enjoy what you enjoy but most people lack the courage to say the obvious. You might try listening to other versions of the great hymn tune for a start. Never stop growing. I remain repulsive yours. CVD
My comments were meant for the organist. Obviously, he has talent otherwise I would have said nothing. My intensions were to get his attention in relationship to how better create variations on a theme. I've been a piano and organ teacher for years and worked in Hollywood for some time. When and/or if he chooses to rise to the occasion, I'm sure... in the spirit of good will, we (he and I) will have much to share and great fun in doing so. I hope you not his mother. Sincerely. CVD
Charles Davis why didn't you tell him exactly what you thought could be better instead of telling him a 5 year old could do better and to send you a message? it's ridiculous. Are you that desperate for his attention?
As to why I did what I did: that's a good question. But I didn't say a five year old could do it better. I said a fifth year organ student could do it just as well. I did what did for shock value to get his attention (not yours). However, the actual process of learning how to create interesting variations on ancient themes is a rather lengthy process and one I am somewhat hesitant to initiate. In short, it's a rather long winded process and can't really be expressed in a few emails. And no, I'm desperate for his attention. But I did hear something of real beauty and passion in his playing. I also intuited his dedication in service to The Christ. If we can listen, we can grow and improve upon those talents God has us. That's a big "IF." Sincerely, CVD
the two thumbs down were people who didn't want emmanuel to come
BINGFRYSRDUN that comment was very ahead of its time

@@PracticalComic very.
LOL zing!
@PracticalComic not really because Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Jesus Christ is before time, in time, and always.
There's no substitute for the beauty and majesty of a pipe organ, well-played. Thanks.
This hymn perfectly captures the theme of the Old Testament prophesy of our Lord and God Jesus Christ
Maranatha.
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny
From depths of Hell Thy people save
And give them victory o'er the grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,
In ancient times did'st give the Law,
In cloud, and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Its truly the miniscule straits of glorious and dismundane. Celestial. Pure. You never
W
want to come back from it.
I always come back to see my favorite organ player he picks the good organ songs
Thank You!
I love the single voice of the opening bars, then the full organ swelling into life. I hope heaven has an organ, because they just can't be beat.
Praise the Holy name of Jesus. Rejoice, Rejoice!!!!
Jesus Christ would be proud of this rendition Rob. Simply beautiful
Thanks Ken!
Listening to it after ~2 years without mass access due to the Covid-19 crisis in Shanghai. I never imagined that life is so tasteless without that Church atmosphere
