Finally a tutorial that A. Uses a foundation row before starting the basket weave and B. Is using the posts, not the top of the stitches as one does for regular stitches❣️❣️. I can't begin to thank you enough. I have been trying to find a tutorial that does and I finally founds yours. I just needed the visual to grasp the written pattern. I am so grateful you made this tutorial. Thank you, thank you, thank you❣️❣️❣️❣️.
I taught myself how to do the basic stitches such as single, double and half double crochet. All I could do was a straight line blanket. I recently figured out the granny square stitch. Now, thanks to your very simple and slow paced video I have accomplished the basket weave. I am in process of making my new grandson a new baby blanket. I truly can't thank you enough for helping me learn this design. I am still learning to read patterns yet with your instructions, I am now getting then nack of it. I feel very proud. I see me making more blankets in the future as well from your other videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to show this.
Thank you for the wonderful TH-cam tutorial on the basketweave stitch. It was neither too fast nor too slow; and your voice is quite soothing. I hope to make a nice blanket with this stitch. Keep up the great work!
Watched many videos and tutorials on how to crochet the basketweave stitch and your instructions and demonstration is the clearest and the best,. Thank you.
To look at this stitch you would think that it is super hard to do. The way you did your tutorial was perfect. The speed and timber of your voice is great for teaching. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I really enjoyed learning this stitch with you. I have subscribed and I look forward to watching your other tutorials and seeing the new ones as you post them. I don't see a button where I can make a donation so you can continue doing what you are doing. Lead me to it if I have overlooked it. LOL
Thank you so much for your great tutorials I was a very basic crocheter until I discovered your videos now I can do the bobble stitch and basket weave I am going to try the textured wave stitch next. You make an amazing teacher easy to understand and follow, wonderful thank you.
+Rebecca Bowen thank you so much for the kind words and excellent review! I really appreciate it :) I'm so glad to have been able to help you advance your skills!
Thank you so much for this pattern and showing me how it's made! You explain how the stitch is done and how it will look! You are a great instructor!!I love this pattern and I am going to make this one. It's been 20 years since I have crochet anything. I will be watching for your patterns and items............. thank you again and have a blessed day :)
Thank you . I'm planning on making a blanket for my husband, and I saw another video and I was totally lost. (So was alot of other people by the comment section) I know that I can follow your directions easily. Thank you so much. 😀
Thank You for making this "difficult looking pattern" so simply explained.... You are very good a showing this and I got it at Row 2 ;-).... am taking off like a bandit and have almost finished a darling baby blanket..... many more to come thanks to your wonderful explanation!!
OMG... I can't wait to try this; I know this is something I could do. You made this intricate stitch (that I really felt would be too hard for me) very easy to understand. Thank you so Much Brittany... You're a dream... I love all ur tutorials...!!!! You make it so understandable.
Love your videos! I am brand new to crochet and just finished making my first scarf with your help. I find it very helpful when you show us where to put the end stitch markers for each row, so we know where to stop and start ... going to try this basket weave next. Thank-you!!! 💖
I have to say thank you for showing me the proper way to FP and BP 💕 that was what has helped me with learning this and a few other patterns and another step closer to advancing my crocheting level. I will continue to practice with this pattern but with a 5.5 mm hook to see if that helps me with my stitching. The 5.0 is ok but my hook has to be a bit bigger so I can get better results with the amount of tension.
Thank you so much for all the great videos. Your fantastic teaching methods have helped me to increase my skills and make some wonderful items for friends and family.
I really like your tutorials that are so easy to do follow , I m going to try to make a sweater with this basket weave stitch , Thank you for all your tutorials !!
This is sooooooo easy to follow and create. I’ve seen others on TH-cam and I don’t understand so I gave up and then I saw this video and I grave it a try and I have completes my basket blanket thanks
I should know better than to stray to a different crochet teacher on youtube. Every time I use a different youtuber to learn a stitch it always ends up uneven. I should know better by now. Only your videos from now on! Your detailed videos are much appreciated. Thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I watched another tutorial on this stitch and the lady never got past row 4, so naturally I was lost since I'm a beginner.
Great tutorial but I prefer to work with a foundation chain for blankets cos it makes bordering easier. I'm trying to work out what the stitch multiple would be tho. I'm thinking multiples of 8 for the 4 back post and 4 front post plus 2 for the 2 edge stitches... Is my thinking correct? I've got the yarn in project bag with the hook ready but want to check before I start and get it wrong lol
This tutorial is BEAUTIFULLY executed.!! Both in speed and quality. You speak incredibly eloquently and are very good at explaining what you are doing and what needs to be done. ❤ May I ask what brand yarn you're using.? Thanks.!! ~Kandice M.
I am hooked on crochet for about a year now and beginning to move beyond some of the basic stitches/designs. Wonderful tutorial on this stitch and I can't wait to use it on a project. I am thinking of a men's vest or sweater, if I can manage it and if I can find a pattern. It does seem like the foundation chain and the final sample you crocheted are different sizes. Does this stitch pull in a bit? About how much? Half the length of the original chain/foundation row? Thanks for sharing your skills on the web!
Hi! I have 2 questions...I have just started doing this pattern (and love it), and am wondering why there is to be only a "half double crochet" at the end of the row instead of a regular double crochet stitch? It seems like doing only a half double crochet wouldn't match the height of the stitch like a regular dc would...input? Second question, what's the best way to add a nice edging stitch onto the finished project? Just keep going with the yard and do a few rows of sc, OR would it be best to finish off, and then start the edging separately? Thanks!
It sure can! This stitch it pretty versatile. My only recommendation for this stitch being used as a sweater is to use a lightweight yarn. When you work up this stitch in a worsted weight, it creates a very thick fabric that may not have the proper drape.
So, wherever there is a FPDC on the first two rows, you do a BPDC on the next two rows, wherever its the opposite? Like, so there's always the reverse of the 2nd rows stitch twice on top of the two rows? So, one sqaure = two of the same way facing DCs?
supagirl277 Nevermind, it's the base set of DCs, then 3 front facing, then 3 back facing, alternating between sets of squares on the first 4 rows, then 4 front 4 back on the next 4 alternating and so on.
So basically, first 4 rows is front, back, front, back, etc ... the next 4 rows is back, front, back, front, etc ... the next 4 rows is front, back, front, back, etc ... the next 4 rows is back, front, back, front, etc until you reached your desired length. I take it you do a row of simple double crochet for the last row to finish the piece off (to have the same edging on the very first row)?
my 3rd row started with me needing to do back double crochets in order to create a square pattern. any idea what happened? I have 112 stiches, which is a multiple of 8....
I chained 16 for a practice, and I didn't get 16 stitches, after double crocheting into the 4th stitch. Do I need to chain more to get the multiple of 8?
HELP! I tried to do multiple of 8 and no matter what I did it wasn't coming out right. When I did your 24 it worked fine but I couldn't change the size. Am I suppose to do a multiple of 8 plus another number. I love your video you make it very easy for me to learn (I'm new to crocheting). I just don't understand when I try to change size doing a multiple of 8 it isn't working?
I've tried doing 24 stitches, skipping three and double crocheting into the fourth like on the video. I keep coming up with two extra posts, not including the two outer posts. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?
+B.hooked Crochet by mistake , I started with chains 124 which I realized later on that its not multiple of 8 but it's still working though. Any idea why?
FB: I don't feel like this colour of yarn is ideal for identifying stitches on camera. The white surface reflects the colour and makes focussing harder. A black (or dark or less-reflective) surface would make viewing easier. :)
I’m a guy who loves to crochet…….I think I can do the basket weave pattern now…….your so easy to follow, step by step…..thank you

Best tutorial ever!!!
thank you, it was really helpful :) can I use this pattern to work in circles to create hat?
thank you. I enjoyed learning this
So is the foundation chain multiples of eight +3 to compensate for the three we skip at the beginning?
this is great , I will be right back with my yarn and needle to to do it with you

Love this stitch. thanks for the help i also subscribed.
Thank you for your time in showing how to do this stitch. I just want to clarify that the pattern is basically 3 rows of the same then switch?

Good video. Nicely done.
Great explanation.
Thank you so much. I am going to try it
thank you so much, watched yarnspirations and their video was so confusing.
I was just wondering...at the beginning of he video you mentioned being able to do this stitch in the round how would you go about starting that?
Hi,lovely stitch pattern!! thanx for sharing! can it b used to make a sweater?
It sure can! This stitch it pretty versatile. My only recommendation for this stitch being used as a sweater is to use a lightweight yarn. When you work up this stitch in a worsted weight, it creates a very thick fabric that may not have the proper drape.
B.hooked Crochet thanx a lot for ur reply...it helped :)
Did you add 4 chains at the end? I always end up with 3 extras double crochet instead of one like you.
What yarn are you using in the tutorial? It looks so soft to work with!
Hi Julie! I don't have the label anymore and the name escapes me :/ I know that it is Premier brand 100% acrylic sport weight.
teaching method is very good
Great tutorial...thank you 🙂
😀thank you lovely demo
+Susan Fryer my pleasure! I'm glad you like it :)
Hello , I am wondering what sort of edge would suit this pattern , I am very new at thing . Thank you.
Awesome tutorial, thank You ever so much !
That is so cool! 😎
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial.Could you gave me the number of chain for a baby blanket.
great tutorial! I am going to try it...
Should the initial chains be a multiple of 4 ? Or any amount ?
So, wherever there is a FPDC on the first two rows, you do a BPDC on the next two rows, wherever its the opposite? Like, so there's always the reverse of the 2nd rows stitch twice on top of the two rows? So, one sqaure = two of the same way facing DCs?

Glad you worked through it! That's the best way to learn :)
You actually don't have to since the second row pulls the stitches if that first dc row into position, it matches the end!
ahhhhhhh
Am currently in the middle of two projects, so I might give this style a whirl next!
B.hooked Crochet
Fabulous thank you 😊
my 3rd row started with me needing to do back double crochets in order to create a square pattern. any idea what happened? I have 112 stiches, which is a multiple of 8....
what kind of yarn did you use for the blue blanket you made
Great video, Thanks!
Q buenos están los tutoriales tan fasil de aprender saludos
I chained 16 for a practice, and I didn't get 16 stitches, after double crocheting into the 4th stitch. Do I need to chain more to get the multiple of 8?

Is the chain any multi of 8 + 4
Hi do we need to start with even number of chains for this stich for any project?
Hi there! You can work this stitch pattern in any size, you just want to keep it in multiples of 8.
+B.hooked Crochet by mistake , I started with chains 124 which I realized later on that its not multiple of 8 but it's still working though. Any idea why?
