Once again, didn't know youth bowling could provide so much thrilling entertainment! Last game was one of the best matches I've ever seen...period! It's insane the amount of talent on display.
I would argue that it's all in how it's presented. I'm sure if you look around, you'll probably find some videos of young people bowling where someone just set up a camera and pointed it at the lanes and posted the raw footage. I'd like think that PRODIGY is a little more than just that. It's no accident that that these shows are appealing to bowlers. The production value is there. And it's presented in a way to heighten what ABC's Wide World of Sports used to call "the human drama of athletic competition." Seeing young athletes compete is not really that much different from seeing pros compete, as long as they're doing so in earnest and have a true passion for winning. When I see the little kids tear up over losing, I realize they've got some maturing to do before they'll be real players. But it tells me they've got the innate "want to" that will drive them forward to seek excellence. I have no doubt they'll get there as long as they're given the opportunity to pursue it and are presented with the challenge that keeps them interested.
Coach, Randy, the polish of your channel gets shinier and shinier each week! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. You and these youth bowlers are the highlight of my TH-cam watching week. THANK YOU!
You're very kind to notice. I'm glad you enjoy the show. Thank you for watching. You know, you can support the work done to create the show each week by becoming a PRODIGY Patron. Learn more about it at www.patreon.com/prodigybowlerstoour Again, thanks for watching!
The two game format is kinda stacked toward having a close finish, which I love. Usually when one player wins the first game, the other player will muster enough stuff to take Game 2, setting up the roll-off. It won't always happen, of course. But so far, we've used this format three times and it's produced a roll-off every time.
This 2x2 format was used one other time on PRODIGY. We used it for the Championship Match at our first annual PRODIGY Tournament of Champions last June. The only difference was, if the players had tied in the 9th/10th roll-off, we'd have moved to a single-ball roll-off. I like this format for a variety of reason. But chief among them is that it's been my experience that when one player wins the first game, quite often the other player will summon up whatever bowling strength he has to win the second game, which then forces the roll-off. And to me, there's nothing more pulse-pounding in bowling than watching a close finish play out. A two-game match in which you decide the outcome based on total pins can turn into a blowout and the finish isn't all that interesting because it's never in doubt. I much prefer this method, as it's far more likely to produce an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter. And while I never root for one kid over another, I do always root for a close finish. It makes for a better show.
Davidmr2100 you may bowl well and you can have your opinion about 2 handers, but be nice about it. Also people like you who say mean things like what you said without reason disgust me. Also you may have that opinion but maybe consider the fact that the number 1 bowler in history is a 2 hander
Since Bowlero Roswell (formerly Brunswick Zone Roswell, and before that, Brunswick Roswell Lanes) was first built in the early 1980s, there has NEVER been a 300 game bowled in the center's Saturday morning youth leagues. That's partly because the carry in the house is notoriously average at best. The house shot has never been that hard to get to the pocket on, but carry has always been suspect. The closest we've seen to a 300 in youth league is a 299 bowled by Mikey Kobrinsky the very first game of the very first week of the 2016-17 season. Look around through the videos on this channel and you'll find it. I caught it on video.
I almost didn't recognize Big Logan without a hat. Maybe he should bowl without one more often. He seemed to have pretty good success for at least one game.
Well, don't come to Roswell, Georgia anymore. We're not there anymore. I moved to Kansas City in November, 2021. You'll notice that all our episodes of PRODIGY since June of '22 have originated from the Kansas City area. And most of the kids who bowled with us in Roswell, GA have either aged out of youth bowling or have scattered to other bowling centers in the Atlanta area. Only one or two of them left at Roswell.
What a great show! Loved the 3 deep technology too! Great match calling as usual coach Randy! Loved the ending of the video! You should do an avengers style short sometime.😃
Hey Randy! I just started bowling frequently in the past month and I have improved drastically, I was wondering if you have any tips for tweener style bowlers and the types of ball that best suits hook. I’d love to be able to talk to you and learn how to improve my game!
I am loathe to make ball recommendations to someone who I've never seen bowl before. My best recommendation would be to find a qualified ball driller in your area and have him/her watch you bowl. They'll be in a far better position to make recommendations than I am. Good luck!
This was perhaps the greatest PRODIGY episode of all time. Simply awesome. I have the feeling that HM will be the second bowler to reach that historic landmark that was reached in this episode. There are a couple of questions that I have regarding the "house shot" that you use. First, do you know the name of the particular pattern that Bowlero Roswell uses? Also, do they use more than one "house shot" pattern from week to week or is it the same shot each week? Finally, does the staff at the center tell you what pattern is laid down before bowling begins (and do you have a say on what particular pattern is laid down for your league)?
Yes. The house shot is Kegel's Stone Street. Each Saturday, the guy who runs the lanes before youth league on Saturday mornings runs the house shot on our league lanes, and then holds off on running the last six lanes until I arrive and I tell him what I want. On this day I knew we'd have a small crowd, so I told him to just run the house shot. But on most days, we go through the patterns that are programmed into the machine and I tell him which one I want. Sometimes I just say, "Surprise me." But he always tells me what's been laid down. I then relay that information to the kids so they always know what they're bowling on before they start. This Saturday (April 20th) we'll be bowling at AMF Woodstock, and they told me they had an old version of Badger in the machine, so I said, "Let's use that." So they'll be bowling on Badger this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do.
That struck me as a rather obscure reference that only a former top 40 radio disc jockey like me might think of. LOL! But I knew a few of my fellow old timers might get it.
He bowled on a couple of shows. Go back and check the last one of calendar 2017 and the first one or two of calendar 2018.. I think that's when you'll find him. I forget the names of them.
Great game Big Logan. Christian is funny yelling at the pins all the time. Logan almost left the 4-10 on that last frame shootout. Hey Randy is there a reason for all the static in the program. I only get it in your Prodigy recording. How many 300's has Logan had?
Static? I don't hear static. I hear a lot of noise. I run the sound track through some pretty heavy audio compression (I smash it pretty hard), which tends to bring up the noise floor quite a bit. Makes the whole thing sound better and tends to even out the levels. Something very similar happens to audio when it's run through the audio processing chain at a TV network, and then as it goes out through the audio chain of either a local television station or a cable company (or both). I want it to sound as much like broadcast television as I can make it.
Question for Randy: Did you name it Prodigy or did someone else name it. And what does Prodigy mean? I can't do a monthly membership donation but I'd like to donate once in awhile. You really need to create a spot for that. I don't want to go thru all that process of donating them canceling I'm not good with billing.
James, everything about PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is my creation. The one idea that came from someone else was the Coveted Trophy Pin. Early on in the series, the kids would simply bowl for bragging rights.. A few episodes into the series, a viewer named Amanda Mayer posted a comment saying, "Along with bragging rights, I wonder if more kids would get involved in the little competitions if there were something else to 'win.'" I agreed with her, but I knew I wouldn't be spending the money to offer up a prize each week. After a little thinking, I came up with the concept of getting the kids to sign a pin and giving the pin away to one of the kids at the end of the season. I found a company that would print most anything on to bowling pins that you want printed, so I ordered the first pin. The name "The Coveted Trophy Pin," frankly, was something I stole from another competition that I once ran. Back in 2000 and 2001, I hosted a golf tournament that was held for regular participants in the Usenet newsgroup called rec.sports.golf. Usenet was one of the earliest places that people would go to participate in online discussion, and I was a very regular participant in rec.sport.golf, or "RSG," as we called it. Several regulars in RSG started hosting golf tournaments, and for the most part, they attracted a small number of players, mostly from within the region where it was held. I decided to host one I called RSG-ATLANTA and started talking it up. Soon, a friend in Chattanooga started trash-talking about how he would win it. He and I struck up a friendship, and soon the event was hyped like crazy. The first one we did attracted about 35 participants from all over the country, making it one of the two largest RSG golf events in the country. I purchased a cheap, oversized denim jacket from Old Navy and threw it in the washing machine with a couple of boxes of RIT dye to dye the thing a gaudy peach color and dubbed it "The Coveted Peach Jacket," a take-off on the Green Jacket that professional golfers so covet at The Masters Tournament held each April in Augusta (just won by Tiger Woods last weekend, when he won his fifth Green Jacket). So when I rolled out The Coveted Trophy Pin, I just robbed the same language I used for The Coveted Peach Jacket some fifteen years earlier at my RSG-ATLANTA golf events. The show was originally conceived as nothing more than a recruitment tool -- a way for me to promote the youth program here at Bowlero Roswell (it was still Brunswick Zone Roswell at the time). I figured if enough young people in the Atlanta area saw the show, they might be persuaded to pester their parents to drive them across town to come bowl with us on Saturdays so they might be able to qualify to be on that cool TH-cam show that we do. Little did I know that the show would soon take on a life of its own and become this national/international phenomenon. Today, the kids who appear regularly on the show and then travel out of state to tournaments routinely get recognized and asked for their autographs. Just a couple weeks ago when Christian was in Michigan for a college recruiting event, a couple of families came up to hi and asked if they could take a picture with him. Hearing stories like this warms my heart. The name PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR was something I dreamed up. The first time I used it on a TH-cam video was a few months before this series was first hatched. I used it on a one-off, mash-up video I created of my son, back when he was 8 years old in 1981, bowling at Golden Triangle Lanes (now gone) in Irving, TX. On the video, you see him bowling, and I cut up snippets of play-by-play from ABC-TV's Chris Schenkel and color commentator and PBA Hall of Famers Nelson Burton, Jr. The video was pretty funny, but at the time I had no idea that I would use that title again and give it to a series that I would soon create. See th-cam.com/video/BsupvbPGhQg/w-d-xo.html The name PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is a take-off on the long-running TV series "Pro Bowlers Tour" which was a Saturday afternoon mainstay on ABC-TV from 1967 thru 1997. Many believe that when ABC cancelled the series i 1997, that was the death blow to bowling in general, as it sent our sport from a long held Saturday afternoon time slot on broadcast television to a little-known cable channel (ESPN), which had not yet gone mainstream. The fact that bowling's rapid downward spiral in popularity seems to coincide with the sports sudden lack of visibility on television can be traced to the show being cancelled from ABC's Saturday afternoon lineup. For virtually the entire run it was on ABC, it was the lead-in show that aired just before ABC's award winning "Wide World of Sports." So yes, the name PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR was very much intended to sound a lot like PRO BOWLERS TOUR. And if you go back and watch the graphics animation used throughout much of the 1970s on PRO BOWLERS TOUR, you'll see a similarity to the logo that I created for PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR. See th-cam.com/video/YnmFyVXokx4/w-d-xo.html Even the opening animation to PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR was patterned after one of the graphics used on PRO BOWLERS TOUR in the 1980s. See th-cam.com/video/0sFWWB71mJU/w-d-xo.html As for the definition of the word PRODIGY, I'll simply quote from Dictionary (dot) com, which defines the meaning of PRODIGY as, "a person, especially a child or young person, having extraordinary talent or ability (like "a musical prodigy")." Now you know the complete backstory to PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR.
BrownswickBowling Thanks I was wondering to compare it to my bowling balls I have a 14 pound 900 Global After Dark and some kind of other ball that used to belong to my sister that’s a 12 pound ball
When Bowlmor-AMF purchased all the Brunswick-owned centers from Brunswick Corporation in 2014, they also acquired a licensing agreement that allowed them to use the brand name Brunswick (and Brunswick Zone) for a period of five years. The five years is up in September of this year. So it's been known for some time that ALL the Brunswick-branded bowling centers in the country would be changing their names before September of this year. They will all be doing this.
Reign Drops - As I mentioned to him after the match was over, I once shot 279 and lost by 20. Then there was a handicap match play league I was bowling in a few years ago. My opponent shot 279 at me. I shot 278. Our handicaps were two pins different - he was spotting me 2 pins. So I beat him, 280-279. Had the whole league buzzing. It happens.
They go back and forth. Hunter's a year older and got a little more experience under his belt. In a few years, these two will be among the best in the state and will be neck-and-neck. Hopefully, they'll keep pushing each other to get better.
We've calculated it. He drifts pretty consistently about 6 or 7 boards to the left. There's nothing wrong with that. If you're a right-hander, it's better to drift left than it is to drift right (walking into your swing). Christian's problem is that his drift to the left happens with his LEFT foot. As a result, he walks away from his swing on his slide step, resulting in this huge gap between the ball and his slide ankle, which is not good. (Huge loss in leverage. And it also negatively affects his ability to be accurate with his throw.)
@@ProdigyBowlersTour i also used to have this problem when i started out. Then my coach trained me to take my right foot in front of my left foot on my second step ( 5 step approach) ever since then my line has been very consistent.
I am not LOFO's keeper. The fact that LOFO decided not to bowl on PRODIGY this season was entirely his decision. I've made it clear to him and to his father that we'd love to have him back. But it's not up to me. It's up to him. I don't coerce anyone to bowl on PRODIGY. I think if he knew how many of his own fans would like to see him bowl on PRODIGY, maybe he would reconsider. But then again, maybe he wouldn't. Either way, it's not my decision. That said, as you'll find out if you watch the end of this episode, PRODIGY will be in Columbus, GA on the 27th for the PEPSI Tournament. Logan and Charlie both made the finals in the U17 BOYS division. And so there's a chance they could both make the stepladder. Now, I haven't decided yet which stepladder we'll cover on PRODIGY (there's a very appealling field in the U15 and U20 BOYS divisions, as well). But I've only got one camera to take down there. So I'll pick one once I see who made the stepladder. Who knows? Maybe we'll get LOFO on the show that way. I would love to have a camera on him when he finally breaks through and wins a big tournament. The kid has put in the work in the last several years and he deserves a break. But his confidence -- at least his outward confidence -- is not very high right now. I sincerely hope that changes between now and the 27th. He's due to win one of these things. And if he does, that could change his entire outlook.
Best time of the week is when I get this notification
I love how supportive you all are of each other... seems like it would be super fun to participate in the tour as it were...

I want it to sound as much like broadcast television as I can make it.
What is Hunter’s high score?
This is answered on the show.
Maybe 269
Is there any 2 handed tips that I can use?
Put your thumb in and bowl one handed 😁😁😁😁🎳🎳🎳🎳
I’ve bowled one hand and I suck at it
@@Dilly31 are you left handed or right handed
I’m right handed
So what is your arsenal since I'm a lefty and I can't make a snap dessgion sorry for the misspelled word
See th-cam.com/video/BsupvbPGhQg/w-d-xo.html
The name PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is a take-off on the long-running TV series "Pro Bowlers Tour" which was a Saturday afternoon mainstay on ABC-TV from 1967 thru 1997. For virtually the entire run it was on ABC, it was the lead-in show that aired just before ABC's award winning "Wide World of Sports."
So yes, the name PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR was very much intended to sound a lot like PRO BOWLERS TOUR. And if you go back and watch the graphics animation used throughout much of the 1970s on PRO BOWLERS TOUR, you'll see a similarity to the logo that I created for PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR.
See th-cam.com/video/YnmFyVXokx4/w-d-xo.html
Even the opening animation to PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR was patterned after one of the graphics used on PRO BOWLERS TOUR in the 1980s. See th-cam.com/video/0sFWWB71mJU/w-d-xo.html
As for the definition of the word PRODIGY, I'll simply quote from Dictionary (dot) com, which defines the meaning of PRODIGY as, "a person, especially a child or young person, having extraordinary talent or ability (like "a musical prodigy")."
Now you know the complete backstory to PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR.
How heavy are Hunter and Rowan’s strike balls
UNKNOWN BANANA - They vary from 10 to 12.
BrownswickBowling Thanks I was wondering to compare it to my bowling balls I have a 14 pound 900 Global After Dark and some kind of other ball that used to belong to my sister that’s a 12 pound ball
Logan and Christian act like brothers
Hello
*ROCKET TO THE POCKET* 🎳
Awesome!
So... it’s not a Brunswick Zone anymore?
When Bowlmor-AMF purchased all the Brunswick-owned centers from Brunswick Corporation in 2014, they also acquired a licensing agreement that allowed them to use the brand name Brunswick (and Brunswick Zone) for a period of five years. The five years is up in September of this year. So it's been known for some time that ALL the Brunswick-branded bowling centers in the country would be changing their names before September of this year. They will all be doing this.
Exciting show.
Very. From start to finish.
Watch out I’m coming next season 👀🤙🏻
We'll be here waiting for you. Bring one of your parents. (They have to sign a release form.)
Wow in the last game how the heck do you shoot that high and lose
Reign Drops - As I mentioned to him after the match was over, I once shot 279 and lost by 20. Then there was a handicap match play league I was bowling in a few years ago. My opponent shot 279 at me. I shot 278. Our handicaps were two pins different - he was spotting me 2 pins. So I beat him, 280-279. Had the whole league buzzing. It happens.
Has Hunter rolled a 300 yet? He is improving dramatically.
bamaslamma1003 - He has not...yet.
Are yall okay ? I hope the bowling alley didn't get distroyed
James Dunn - Haven’t been to Bowlero Roswell today. We filmed today’s show over at AMF Woodstock. Haven’t heard any reports of damage, though.
Where is the new prodigy
@@dejabowler873 I am not sure yet but maybe this weekend or next weekend
What are you talking about? THIS is the latest PRODIGY! It just posted Friday morning. Fridays are the normal release days for PRODIGY.
I've never seen a pocket Jersey hit leaving the 6 10.
i feel sad when Rowan said he was gonna lose. this kid may lose too much against Hunter
They go back and forth. Hunter's a year older and got a little more experience under his belt. In a few years, these two will be among the best in the state and will be neck-and-neck. Hopefully, they'll keep pushing each other to get better.
In a few years, we'll have another Logan F. and Charlie pair :)
Two green dots wins
Wierd not hearing Brunswick zone Roswell anymore
WOW!!!
3:56 Big Logan Photobomb!
Bowling Umbreon that’s not big Logan 🤦🏼♂️
That's Brandon Karavite
It is Brandon, My bad
Is it just me or does Christian Drift more than 10 boards per shot . Lol
1:02:00 Christian face lmao
bring back LOFO !!!
