I think these same practices can be applied to many if not all of the bowling techniques. I’ve switch from conventional to 1 hand no thumb and my wife has started bowling just over a year ago and these will help her too 😁

This is relevant for ANY bowler. This was excellent. I greatly appreciated the comments about not caring about the pin fall on some of the drills and about posting your shot till the ball hits the pins.

Best video you've posted in awhile! Great content! You beat me to the punch when you were talking about consistent speed with each step on the approach. I wondered about how the stutter step fit into that and whether that would be considered an "increase" in speed, but as soon as I started thinking it, you addressed it. Thanks for this video! This was great stuff.

As a 2 handed bowler that bowls in PBA regionals, I've been struggling a bit with my physical game and this video helped remind me what I've been forgetting in my practice sessions! Slow approach (for warmup) and a HUGE focus on stability/consistency over down lane results. Thanks Packy!

I struggle a lot on my approach ever since I was a kid I’ve always started at the back set of dots so I take like an 8 step approach and I can’t break that habit but I’m glad u threw in the tip about keeping ur speed consistent because I start slow then speed up towards the foul line and my throws r very inconsistent so can’t wait to put some of these tips to work thanks

I switched to two handed for my strike ball recently and one of the things I have had to learn is even though I have a higher RPM now I still need to be careful around the gutter, I have had many balls fall in because I played on that edge and with my ball speed my ball never had the time to hook and stay on the lane so now I play more inside.

Awesome tips here for sure. Especially the footwork. That timing is golden and helps you analyze shots so much easier. Quick question, wonder if anyone can chime in on this. When finishing the slide, where is the best target of where your slide foot should be behind the foul line? I feel like if I'm too close to it, screws me up. I like sliding in just before dots behind foul lines. Lmk what you all think.

I just started bowling again after a 35+ year break due to injuries and two back surgeries and I’m so glad that I finally can bowl again at the age of 68. My youngest son has never been good at bowling, but he’s happy to go with me when we get to see each other and after our last bowling session together I suggested that he study some TH-cam videos on two handed bowling and try it out the next time we bowled together. Well that opportunity happened a couple days ago and he adjusted to using two hands really fast. His normal bowling average had been about 110, to 130 bowling one handed, and his first attempt at bowling two handed he threw a 211 on just his fourth game, and was very happy with his progress and he’s looking forward to bowling more often now. I’m very happy for him as well and I look forward to taking him bowling with me as often as I can (we live 750 miles apart).

Great great tips! I have always bowled one handed and for the first time ever I tried two handed just yesterday. I just wanted to see if I could do it. I have to say that it felt very awkward and I was not sure if I was going to kill myself falling over my own feet.:) For me two handed is very odd because when I bowl one handed (righty) I have a very high, almost over my head backswing so you can imagine how it feels for me to try two handed bowling. I will put these 5 practice methods to use the next time I try two handed, thanks Packy, I watch you and all the other House bowlers all the time.

I love this video, especially as a two hander myself. I definitely struggle with my staying focus all the way through my shot, as well as my hand placement. For me throughout the day (especially on league days), I'll do air releases focusing on keeping my hand underneath/on the backside of the ball. As for remaing focusing throughout my release, I'm Curious to hear if people have issue I have. I wear glasses, and often times I find that the frame of my glasses will get block my view. I try to push them up all the way on my face, and I also got wider frames. I am thinking about getting contacts, so that my entire view won't be blocked by my frames. Also I apologize for the super long post. Merry Christmas all 🎅 ⛄️☃️⛄️☃️🎁🎁⛄️☃️

So question: I understand keeping your hand up the back of the ball and really rolling the bowl over instead of barreling it…but is the tip you gave to basically keep your degree of axis rotation low? I watch 2h lefty’s like Jesper and Keven, both of whom have seemingly high degrees of axis rotation, and are really effective. Is this just the type of move veterans can make once they’ve achieved a true consistent throw? I could def see how an amateur 2her would overfocus on spinning the ball at 90degrees of axis rotation, thinking that’s the primary factor of a good hook and good shot

  • @dannwatts

Really Packy that is what many to most Pro-bowlers have the biggest trouble with the total end over end roll to not hook the ball at all with the reeving ball. I say Anthony Smionsen is the BEST at it among many other ways Anthony throws the balls.

I know you probably don't get this question often, but do you (or anyone in comments) have any tips for improving arm strength for bowling. I am disabled and need hip replacements so I can't work out like a healthy person would. I have had much better success using a 15 pound ball vs my 12 pound. However I notice I lose power as I get into games 2 and 3, which causes issues for me. I feel like its mainly my forearm, but cant hurt to work my entire arm. So its clarified, I walk to the foul line and just throw from there as I cant make use of the approach. So all my power or lack there of, comes from my arm and no momentum.

Hey Packy! I have been trying to practice 2 hand bowling for a bit, grew up throwing it one handed. One huge problem I’ve noticed is that the shortened swing really throws off my timing. My feet are getting to the line after my hands. I know you haven’t seen me bowl, but any tips? I have a 5 step approach and push away on my second step, my feet are faster 2 handed than 1 handed but it still doesn’t seem to matter. Maybe my arms are too short 😂
