A lot of the bills from the 1950 to 1973 never had a security blue strip on them, that don’t make them fake, I have about 20 of them , some are worth $50 more today.

Correct.....and the mint (at least one of them) is located in Philadelphia......where as the Bureau is located in Washington, DC. To get a tour of the Bureau is MUCH harder.....to get a tour of the mint is much easier.

I was running the cash register in a department store. A migrant came to me with over $800.00 in expensive clothing. When he tried to pay, the bills were all fake. I could spot the bad bills on the counter, and did not even have to pick them up. The bills were all $100.00 bills. All the bills had the same serial number on them. That was a dead give away the bills were fake. No bill has the same serial number. All bills we took were also run through a machine that scans them and it also tells you if they are good or fail for bad. I did not even have to run his bills throjgh the machine because I already knew they were bad. When I called him out on it, he tried to say his boss paid him, and gave him the bills. I told him he better go back to his boss and ask for real money. I took possession of the clothing he tried to purchase, and called security.
The quickest way to check a C note is to insert a toothpick where the blue strip is under the paper ( it's weaved in ) ! Laser inkjet print counterfeit cannot overcome this security feature or the texture feature or the color shifting ink features or the watermark!
the easiest way to check is to run your thumbnail on the collar of the President. There are ridges in the collar that you can feel. ALSO, the ink never dies on a real bill. Take the bill, place it on a clean sheet of regular white paper, again, with your thumbnail, scratch a place where there is a lot of color (usually the corners), there will be a run of color on the paper. You cannot duplicate this with an inkjet or laser printer. I had a hundred come into our business a couple of weeks ago, and like the man reported, it “looked” real good, probably the best I have ever seen, it it didn’t pass the tests. Plus we have a machine that we use too, and it didn’t pass that either. But the bill itself was a really good fake. If people used that cunning to actually put themselves into a real business, they probably could go farther than they would by counterfeiting.
Last year, four people tried to give me counterfeit money when I was selling things on the Facebook marketplace. All of them had a print date pre-2000s. So none of them would have the new counterfeit markings. most of them had a sandpaper feel to them. but I liked how the washed them to try to make them look/feel old lol

Real money has slight imperfections. I've put a few under microscopes. For educational purposes only. Pretty cool how the blue strip works. If you look in the blue boxes on the strip you'll see 100 in them. Also a liberty bell on the box next to it. The press they use does a gorgeous job. If you look at enough paper you start to get a real appreciation for some of the craftmanship.

I was in the nightclub business for many years, and I could spot a fake from a mile away. During that time I was trying to pay for my meal at a major fast food joint, and not only did they not except my $50 bill but they also stated that they would call the police if i didn’t leave, and I should except that as my lucky day that they didn’t already call. My reply was “no go ahead and call I would be delighted to see what they have to say” so when the cops got there one of them immediately told the manager that the bill was real and showed him with a tester. The cop gave the manager a $100 bill out of his own pocket, and the bill scanner didn’t detect that bill as real either. After the cop tested that bill in front of the manager to come back legit, the cop told the manager to make sure their equipment was calibrated and functioning properly before they continued to make false reports. My elaboration to that was… “consider this your luck day that you didn’t get charged with making a false report and I will be contacting your corporate about this first thing in the morning” which I did and won!

Be careful out there. $100 notes issued prior to the Series of 2009 (actually Series of 2009A) will not have the current anti-counterfeiting measures. However there are still a method of spotting a counterfeit with these older $100 notes that will turn up in circulation. It is better to be safe than sorry.

You would think the banks would check the cash they are getting. However it appears they don't. So you'll need to check it before you walk away from the teller. Also check any cash dispensed from an ATM. Not sure what you can do if you do get a counterfeit from the ATM. I have never gotten a counterfeit bill yet. I did get a torn bill from the ATM though. Only 60 percent of the bill was present. The banks have to take the torn bill back as long as you have over 50 percent of the bill.
Nashville has a counterfeit problem. Be aware. I had to pay back McDonald's $120 for bills I had taken in at the business. We had no counterfeit pens either

So how do you expect people to contact the police if they happen to be given that money and realize they have it? Your average citizen especially a black citizen is not going to call the police to report their counterfeit money if they know there's a risk they could be arrested right on the spot. Keep the confederate money. It has collector value since it was a short term currency and it was printed on acid free paper, should last ages.

You would think the banks would check the cash they are getting. However it appears they don't. So you'll need to check it before you walk away from the teller. Also check any cash dispensed from an ATM. Not sure what you can do if you do get a counterfeit from the ATM. I have never gotten a counterfeit bill yet. I did get a torn bill from the ATM though. Only 60 percent of the bill was present. The banks have to take the torn bill back as long as you have over 50 percent of the bill.
Whoever is doing this, it is a federal crime that can put you in a federal slammer for up to 10 years.

The way you tell, if it’s fake, you should get a plain piece of paper and rub your bill against it. Some of the ink never dries on a bill.
Nashville has a counterfeit problem. Be aware. I had to pay back McDonald's $120 for bills I had taken in at the business. We had no counterfeit pens either

I’ve always take my fingernail and scratch the collar of the person on the bill, you can feels the ridges if it’s real on any age bill- even the old ones without security features.

So how do you expect people to contact the police if they happen to be given that money and realize they have it? Your average citizen especially a black citizen is not going to call the police to report their counterfeit money if they know there's a risk they could be arrested right on the spot. Someone could have this in their possession and it not be their fault at all. This method is going to cause it to continue to be a problem and no one to speak up. Great job again Fulton PD

The water mark have to match with the president that is in the bill as well.
