    My thoughts exactly. THE best handheld for gamers. Or travelling photo/video makers (I use Lightroom and Photoshop on the device). Love my Win2 it lets me play games I've missed in the PS360 era. And these games run with better quality and performance than on PS360. It is also THE best portable for indie games and emulation.

    This indepth review was amazingly thought out- thank you so much. I was looking for something that could emulate ps2 games on the fly, and we all know that isn't easy. Do you know if a newer Win3 or newer GPD handhelds are coming out this year? It would help alot of I knew now before I buy this and end up wishing for a newer one.

      Thank you so much for the kind words... Yes, the GPDWIN2 already has a jewer versioj out which features a newer processor... Although its not really a new device rather just an update to the current version... But you can expect the next big version of the GPDWIN2 to be coming out most likely within the next few months.. Which will be thr GPDWIN MAX.. the device would be lqrger than the GPDWIN2 and would feature a Ryzen processor by AMD.. If I were you, I'd be holding on for a bit longer to see what the new device has to offer before pulling the trigger.. And yes, as suggested by another guy in the comments, follow the Phawx channeo to get the latewt and greatest information pertaining to the GPD devices. Good luck!

    I would personally say that I don’t see the need for the additional feet. As it’s a handheld device, the ventilation is fine. If it’s sat on a desk, then yes, it can be an issue, but that’s not really the point of the device. Good review dude.

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point... The ventilation issue comes into play when connecting to an external display.. As you need to place it on a surface and not hold it.. I just feel it is such a basic idea that they shouldn't be charging 17 dollars for these! Especially when they're already taking 800 dollars from our pockets! Appreciate your feedback. Cheers

    I am interested in this device but I think im going to wait for the gpd win 3. It still lacks in some games like gta v running in the 20fps range. I need at least 30 to really consider this. I'm gonna stick with the switch for now but I'll keep a close eye on new developments as I can't see some of my favorite games being ported to switch any time soon not to mention the entire backlog of emulation

    • @TeamXCaliber

      @@TeamXCaliber yeah I have that game too and excited to see re4 coming to the switch too. But games like gta v, metal Gear solid v, resident evil 2 remake, batman Arkham series, Sekiro shadows die twice, etc would be really awesome to play on the go as I travel. I'm tempted but it's just not quite there yet I just need a little boost of 10-15 fps and I'll get 1. Hoping the gpd win 3 may have a dedicated gpu and back lit keyboard but I think no release till 2020. I'll stick with the switch now though...

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lucasnooker honestly... This is exactly the way I felt before I got my hands on one... Trust me... The fps don't really mqtter on a 6 inch screen... The reason I am saying this is I've plqyed wwe2k18 on the Nintendo switch... Ive even uploaded several videos of it.... Soo many people rejected that game upon launch qnd most of the buyers even asked for a refund... Yet.. Since I love the franchise... And I knew I wqnt wrestling on the go.... I kept my faith and pkayed it more and more... And trust me... The fps is only for a first few sessions... Later on... Ypu become so damn addicted to tue game that it doesn't even matter! Besides most of the ports coming to switxh barely lock 30fps.. And in my opinion most oft the games you mentioned excel far beyond 30fps..on the win2... Anyways, If you wish to holon for the win3.. I can understand... But currently... This beqst is rocking!

    What's your take on using this as a travel computer? Ironically, I'm interested in a thumb keyboard because when I'm at conferences, etc. it's not always easy to find a desk or table to use a regular laptop, and typing on your actual lap gets awkward after a while. I can bring a BT keyboard when I actually have time/space to use it on a desk.

  • @marcoantoniofedericocrespo974
    @marcoantoniofedericocrespo974 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi! great review! yeah, the first question you must ask yourself is if you are in need of this kind of device, for the same you may get a better gaming laptop, but you should let the TOTAL portability apart…. if portability is not an issue at all a full gaming pc will be far better for the same price.
    Along the handhelds, the only commercial one still on the run is switch, apart from the few exclusives, most of the games you could play on GPDWIN for a fraction of the swicht's store price. You also get emulation, even some titles from wiiU (mario kart, mario 3d world….) and ps3, and of course all the ps2/wii/gc generation and downwards…
    All the nindies, cheaper.
    All the pc catallogue from DOS to even today's titles (I'm finishing course A on resident evil 2 remake).… To be honest, is a dream machine, with a cheap almost infinite catallogue.
    But… do you really need a hand held device….
    Well, maybe if you are on your late thirties of early forties, with a lot of stuff going on… family, children, work… maybe, and just maybe yoy may appreciate some high quality gaming on the few moments you may play…

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent points Marco! You're absolutely right... A full fledged laptop is surely a better option IF portability is not a factor.. That is why I clearly mentioned in my review that this is a niche product which may not be for everyone... But it sure does gaming... The way no other computing/gaming console does in this smallest form factor.
      It totally blows away Nintendo switch.. In terms of sheer processing power and playing catalogue... And as you rightly mentioned, a fraction of the price! STEAM has emerged as such a great competitor to all these console makers that it has now become THE MOST popular and most affordable way to play a massive library of AAA titles..
      Honestly, the Win2 is expensive... Way expensive! But it gives you the option to start saving money immediately after the initial purchase and as long as you own it... I mean, think of it this way, Nintendo is charging 60! For some of those PC ports!
      If you just buy a few of those kn the Switch you would easily be spending 500 to 600 dollars! Not to mention the space requirements and the cost of buying a large space micro sd... In addition to the STUPID STUPID STUPID idea of PAYING for AN ONLINE SERVICE simply to have CLOUD SAVING!! I Mean for real?? That's so f*****d up Nintendo!! I just think it's really unfair..
      I appreciate the franchises like Zelda and Mario... But it's commercialism in its worst shape. Anyways... Awesome for you to stop buy... Thank you for the feedback! Cheers.

      Thank you for your comment.... I personally haven't had an issue with tue hinge system simply because of the way I am using it...the issue did happen to some users and I believe its not really GPD's fault per se... As this issue can and does happen to most clam shell devices overtime... A prime example is the Nintendo DS lineup... Had 3 broken hinges on those and thus learned a lot from it... So far for my unit, it's been flawless during these 8 months. Cheers

    I have gotten mine to run borderlands 2 constant 60fps halo reach high 50s-60 ect. but no i have not encountered the muffling of the speakers i find them to be placed very well and my thumbs never cover them and the usb port is not always stiff its just cause you rarely use i. over time it gets more normal. and the buttons are suppose to rock up and down ti allows you to angle your hands slightly more if needed for a better grip thats why there is a cutoput on the bottom rather than jsut having a square hole around them. and a backlit keyboard i would assume would have a big battery drain when on. I like my rumble motors but rarely use them.

      @@kaishiliu Well not really... I mean we still don't know much about the max in terms of specs... design and overall layout... not to mention the retail price... it's still all speculations... Besides, it may go well into next year to have this thing in actual retail form. I think both the GPD Win and the Switch could be performing much better than they are now and keep waiting on their upgrades; I'm surprised you didn't dwell too much on how GPD chose an Intel CPU instead of AMD's more power efficient Ryzen CPUs
    I've been following news and reviews on the GPD Win like everyone else and it's a no sale for me until they really get it all together like they should. And TBQH I keep hoping a bigger manufacturer like Dell or Lenovo stole this idea cuz they could make a more powerful device like it and sell it for cheaper

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree... AMD would've definitely been a great thing if they had included it in the Win2.. But for some reason they went with Intel... . But it just so happens, the WIN 2 MAX has been announced and it does come with a Ryzen APU.. At least that's what the rumors are.. So I guess the safest bet would be to wait and see how the scene develops and whwt comes next... Thank you for the comment.. Do subscribe if you liked the video..

    Hello GaMeAtRoN, i want to buy the GPD Win 2 but i've got some concerns :
    - The SSD gets hot when you play, is this the same when for example you're launching a game from a SD Card instead of the SSD ?
    - I'm kind of a low spec gamer basically and i don't care about AAA games, so does independant games runs also like Dead cells and others Rogue-Like games that don't need too much ressources ?
    Greetings from France.

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there Tenjian! Alright so let's answer your questions.
      1) For the heat issue, you need to know that while the game may be installed on the sd card, your OS is still running from the SSD. So when the CPU and GPU and taxing, you will feel the heat. None the less, while I had my win2, I never experienced thermal throttling since I switched off the intel DPTF from the BIOS when I received my win2. So don't worry about heat.
      2) You don't need to worry about smaller titles like DeadCells, Streets of Rage 4, Ori and the blind forest etc.. as they run super smooth on the WIN2. Infact, if you go through my playlist on my channel, you will find gameplay of DEADCELL.
      Let me know if you need any further information. Do subscribe to the channel and support if you wish to.
      Cheers.

    Is it possible to connect control knobs?

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess you are talking about the analog sticks... Well as I checked, amazon sells this brand called CYBER for the Vita.. This would work with the win2 as well.. But as I already mentioned... The GPDWIN2 has a clamshell design which would not close if you have knobs installed... Meaning you will have to install/remove tgem each time..

      Hehe.. Good one.. It WAS indeed a video that Ihad recorded on my GPDWIN2 playing the game.. Thats why you see my channel logo on it too... While doing tge review I had uninstalled the game so didn't bother reinstalling it just for the sake of a video... There.. Now you know it. Lol

    If I just want to PS4 Remote Play, should I get GPD Win or Win2? I have a Vita but I feel the screen is too small and doesn't have L3, L4 buttons.

    • @Yami_Industries

      Well I would suggest the win2 but wait until the win 2 max is released to get the original win 2 cheaper

      Just use a vita. Way cheaper, more portable, better battery life, and the back touchscreen is used for the L3 and R3 buttons

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct.. It is Quite pricey to be honest.. But so far this is the only device that has pulled it off in such a portable size with a in-built controller. Funny enough I'm replying to your comment while I took a break from Gears Boss RAAM. About to finish it on the GPD WIN2

      @@TeamXCaliber It is a nice gadget, I need a laptop though. I want an Nvidia around £500 - £700. I will keep saving. I sold the xbox one s because it was so slow and too much updates, waiting 4 hours to download and update is not games computer it is a snail.

      @@thethoughtmaster I agree.. If you looking for. Proper laptop with a dedicated GPU then Yes, definitely invest in a good product that would serve your requirements.. GPDWIN2 is an excellent hybrid device that is primarily aimed at gamers that want portability but it cannot handle games at medium to higher quality.

      @@TeamXCaliber The problem is that I need a laptop, games, business, music and a large screen and a laptop does it all, the only problem is getting a laptop that beats an xbox one and ps4, that has to be at least GTX970 and a laptop with those graphics is over £1000. I think I will need to save a bit more, till then I will probably save all my work on external storage in case this laptop snuffs it. I do not expect this laptop to live past one more year. So that is the situation. If I need some games I could download some for windows 10 and get a games pad, that will be my cheapest option to get me through to the spring or get a PS4, I might get a PS3 because there are some games I wanted to play on that when I had an XBOX360. I ain't really bothered.

      @@thethoughtmaster Okay, so for your sake, definitely look into buying a machine that is souped up in termed of processors.. The user upgradable stuff like storage and memory are irrelevant as you can decide to beef up the specs when an if needed.. So save a bit more and don't cut corners by choosing what you CAN buy VS what you really WANT! Good luck to you to mate and happy holidays!

    Excellent review... I just bought mine and I´m waiting for his arrival... I was looking for reviews for the GPD Win 2 and this one explains like i think about this machine... I have the GPD win 1 and I love it but have some details to improvement already done on this GPD win 2 and this is not only a console for gaming... is a full laptop with Windows 10 so you use it for anything you like... watch videos, listen music... see your movies, all kinds of Streaming service videos like Amazon video, Netflix, Crunchy Roll or any other websites with video on demand.... you can use it to edit photo and video, edit your office files... and in my case I´m PC gamer so I have more than 300 games in Steam besides the Games on Uplay, Origin, Epic Store, etc... So yes this Handheld is expensive ... but is not only a gaming console and almost all my games can be runned on the GPD Win 2, I have my Library on the go and I don´t have to buy again the games so the cost is automatically amortized...
    I have some videos on my channel about GPD win 1 and surely I will make some more for the GPD Win 2... again excellent review

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent feedback! And I agree with all what you said... The best part is we are able to take our entire gaming library on the go and bbe able to do a lot more simply because of the Windows OS... Furthermore, the huge steam library has tons of AAA titles that are ready for purchase at a fraction of the cost of what other console companies are offering... Thank you so much for taking the time out to review my review.

      The Win 2 is better seen as a semi retro device, it will do indies and last gen games well. Games from the PS3/360 era play pretty similar to current gen, which let's be honest are only slightly to somewhat improved gameplay wise but full of micro transactions and a nicer coat of paint.
