Vila Franca do Campo Azores

Vila Franca do Campo is a town and municipality in the southern part of the island of São Miguel in the Azores. The popular tourist destinations are Vila Franca Islet and Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Paz.
Vila Franca Islet is a vegetated uninhabited islet. The entire islet and surrounding waters constitute a protected nature reserve, while remaining a popular destination for swimming and cliff diving.
The Ermida of Nossa Senhora da Paz is located at the top of Monte de Nossa Senhora da Paz , in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo.
White chapel on a hilltop with panoramic views, built in the 18th century & reached by a stairway. The steps are spectacular with ceramic tiles containing the Ten Commandments and Eight Beatitudes that are written on the Ermida walls. The climb is not for the unfit but you are rewarded at end. You will see beautiful views and the best panoramas.
