I dunno, the part where Kal finds out Syl has been watching people have sex, and has the mental image of being in bed with a woman only to have Syl sitting on the bed's headboard and shouting encouragements was even funnier, or at least it was to me.

The council of world leaders, accompanied by their guards, everyone bringing their own chair, meant to indicate something about them, with Lopen bringing a blinged-out throne.
That's not even the funniest Lopen moment, that's just how funny he is. The scene where he prematurely becomes a Radiant and gets mad because he wanted to do it a dramatic moment is hilarious because not only is it perfectly fitting for Lopen to want that, but also because every other Radiant Lopen knew up to that point had become Radiant at a dramatic moment.
That was hilarious. My brother (Peter Ahlstrom) has a shirt that says "I am a stick" (with a picture of the stick). Sometimes he forgets he's wearing it and gets weird comments. 😆
just the other day, i read a funny scene in the beggining of RoW, the one where syl parodies the way kaladin talks ("i am banning toes, people keep tripping...") syl can be quite funny in general
I think I like Syl's humor the best. So many great lines with Kaladin. One of my favs: “You’re starting to sound a lot like my mother.” “Captivating?” Syl said. “Amazing, witty, meaningful?” “Repetitive.” “Captivating?” Syl said. “Amazing, witty, meaningful?” “Very funny.”
The funniest moment for me was when Jasnah starts giving a monologue on the importance of history to her mom who is just going ''Yup there she goes'' in her head LOL
I don't have my book in front of me so I'm paraphrasing, but my favorite funny moment from Oathbringer went something like this: Spoilers for Oathbringer below: . . . . . "Stormfather!" said Dalinar. "Yes?" said the Stormfather. "Ehm, sorry... that was a curse."
Personally I laughed in Oathbringer when Dalinar asks Shallan her opinion about what they should do with the other countries in the world, and Shallan tells him straight faced: "Yeah, I definitly heard of those places" Not a direct qoute, but something like that...
@@eier81 I mean the scene with Kaladin, Adolin, Shallan & Wit. I believe it is right before or after Shallan's & Adolin's date, but I'm not sure. When they keep recegnising Wit, each from thier own meetings with him and they each ask Wit: "You?!"
The scene that made me laugh the most was when Lift shows up in Dalinar's vision. Any scene with Lift is bound to get at least a smile from me. She is the most hilarious character in all the Cosmere.
I have yet to see anyone point to this scene to my disappointment. The funniest scene in Oathbringer to me was when (spoilers below): Kaladin returns to Elhokar, Adolin, and Shallan with Azure and all her guards, and Adoline says, "Of course... He's (Kaladin) probably their leader now..." This scene made me laugh for a few minutes straight 😂
Wit and kaladin are the dream team, but he's funny with a lot of people, like in rhythm of war where he writes to a thydakar (hmm I wonder who that could be) and says stick to your own planet you idiot don't make me come over there and beat you up again😂
I kinda love that scene even just wholly based on how it shows off the world building and how the differences in prejudices in it comment on the prejudices of our own and the books world. As for the humour even though a lot of people hate Shallans humour and think it's kinda cringey, it's perfectly in line with my own.
My personal favorite moment in oathbringer was when Princess Jasnah called Amaram’s mom a whore, called Amaram himself a pig fucker, then dared him to attack her while simultaneously reminding him she could literally dust him before he would be able to do anything. All while still remaining classy as fuck. What an absolute queen.
I actually thought Amaram's line where he brings up his mother was extremely contrived, only there to set up Jasnah's insult. I did actually appreciate her showing regret to Shallan afterwards, where Shallan's like "that was so clever!" And Jasnah was like "it was just an eloquent 'your mom' joke, Shallan, come on."
I'm a year and a half late but for me the funniest scene in Oathbringer is one between Lift and Szeth, Szeth: I cannot carry this burden. Lift: That's aight, your face is burden enough. Szeth: You are so smart Lift: :/
Kaladin falling face first from his first attempt to use his powers in the cave Kaladin getting booted off of the horse after running out of stormlight Shallon getting a boot as a gift from bridge 4 for her wedding How Lopen said the ideals and how his spren mimicing his gester to kaladin when he leaves at the end of oathbringer.
I was laughing out loud when reading Words of Radiance, so many funny bits. One of my favorite jokes in all of Stormlight when Wit goes to Kaladin in prison and starts the story: a bunny rabbit and a chick went frolicking in the grass together in a sunny day ...
My favorite funny moment was in the chaperone chapter when shallans like make sure we don't do anything inappropriate and pattern says ... inappropriate, like, dividing by zero? That sent me😂
To me, the funniest scene was when Dalinar was brooding over the visions and relaying information from them to Jasnah and Navani, where the Stormfather asks if Dalinar would like him to bring them into the visions. Imagining Dalinar's face as he planned to abduct Queen Fen in one made me laugh pretty hard while reading, since it was surprisingly mischievous of Dalinar.
When she told him to go harsher three times that was one of my favorite scenes in the series. I love those two together, even though I don't think it will end well
For me, when Pattern says “Mmmm….I do not like being stabbed.” And Adolin says “Wise words, friend. Wise words.” In the audiobook the delivery is so perfect, like Adolin knows it’s a strange thing to say but also that Pattern is definitely not wrong so he just goes with it.
In Oathbringer Brandy Sandy steps up his humor. "No Mating", "Extra Manly", "Can't Read", "We're a odd bunch. - Humm, 7 odd", all things that had me LOL.
I can't help but laugh every time I read the scene where Navani slaps Hoid in the face with her stack of papers before he has a chance to insult her and he just smiles after her as she walks away. I feel like it really shows their personalities.
Shallan saying that the best way to get a head in life is to become a headsman! I think she just calls him "the guy with the axe" or something like that.
When shallan intentionally trips and reveals her legs and safe hand in front of Kaladin, Adolin, and Elokar, at the seamtress is one of the scenes I remember laughing at.
That line from Lopen definitely made me laugh out loud too, it’s just such a funny line of reasoning! When I read the pooping in Shardplate moment in Words of Radiance I did the same thing as you - put the book down and sent a message to my girlfriend to tell her about it, and we both laughed.
I think the best part about this bit of Drehy's sexuality was when the worst part about the same-sex relationship was when Sigzil was upset that Drehy hadn't done the paperwork for it
Love the Oathbringer scene where Kaladin makes the “he could really get inside your head” jokes. Sanderson’s funniest and most enjoyable moments, to me, are those little pockets of character interaction. I don’t feel like I’m just reading a joke; I’m getting to see how my favorite characters interact. It’s one of the strongest qualities of the series to me!
The funniest part of oathbringer for me was for the meeting with all the leaders from Navani's perspective when bridge four comes in, mostly all with simple chairs, then Lopen rocks up with his own throne fitting the future and always king of Herdaz he is. That deserved the chuckle on its own but then when the Aesish leaders all come in with slightly inferior chairs to the big boss it just stuck in my mind that at least of few of those Aesish translators were trying to figure out if Herdazian royalty was invited to the meeting or not. (So sorry for the probably mangled spelling, audio only)
I came here to share my favourite comedy moment, but I keep remembering more and now I'm realising just how funny Brandon's books are. I just think it gets a little left behind with how GRAND AND EPIC AND FANTASTICAL THEY ARE too.
I think one of the funniest scenes in RoW is this ( chapter 80, The dog and the dragon ): "Today he'd seen perfection, and had been presented with a goal. From today, nothing else mattered. He was going to become a dragon" "Hint, thats impossible. A dog can't become a dragon." "Design! What did I tell you about spoiling the end of stories!" "Something stupid, so I forgot it!" "Don't spoil stories!" "That's stupid."
The whole story was hilarious though. like, "the dog went to sleep happy and warm and with a full belly and thought to himself "I did not become a dragon. I am a failure" is such a hilarious end
My favorite was Hoid's insults to Sadeas and Jasnah's insults to amaram. "My job is to give out insults, your job is to be in-sluts" was amazing, so was "unless I were a pig, then you'd be doubly interested"
I laugh out loud all the time, to the point where my husband tells me to close the door when I read, because it's too loud. I found that scene funny. Laughed at it. Wouldn't say it's the funniest though. I guess it's funnier if it's about a topic that's closer to your heart. I was laughing through the whole scene where Shallan made Kaladin hand over his boots. Also, I don't like most of Wit's stories, but I did like "a bunny rabbit and a baby chick went frolicking through the grass together on a sunny day... oh, forgot myself for a moment, let me make it more appropriate for you: a piece of wet slime and a disgusting crab thing with 17 legs slunk across the rocks on an insufferably rainy day..." I wish I had people I could quote that to.
I don't remember the words exactly, but Lift calling Dalinar something liks TIGHTBUTTS cracked me up. Also, Kaladin imagining Syl giving him encouragements while having sex. But, the funniest part of the books for me is the conversation between Shallan and Adolin about shitting in shardplate on their first date.
I love how you read it without even a slight smile after having built up this scene as something you had to pause to get all the laughter out before continuing the book. Makes it feel like you were being completely sarcastic.
Almost any moment with the spren. I feel like spren are the Stormlight equivalent of droids from Star Wars. Awkward, funny and non-human in a charming way.
I frequently laugh at Shallans quips. Yes, I exist. But the first scene that came to mind for Oathbringer was the scene where, after bawling my eyes out in the Wit and Shallan moment in Kholinar, Kaladin came marching up with the entire wall guard behind him, which is just so typical and so out of nowhere (for the other characters present). In combination with the relief I felt from that beautiful scene, I just started laughing.
I really loved the scene where Skar is down on himself and sees as drehy i think jumps up and just slams in the ceiling and is all embarresed about it and Skar is just like bro you standing on a ceiling
I did like that scene but I feel like it's based on an assumed similarity to our world--that is, Kaladin's comment doesn't make sense unless being a gay man is unusual enough in that world to be relatable or feminized in a way that's comparable to learning how to read. So it works, but it kinda feels like more from our world
I think being gay is rare enough that a man from a small town like Kaladin would still be unfamiliar. It isn't necessarily something imposed on him by Sanderson simply for the sake of the joke, you know? They don't have the internet, so while being exposed to lgbtq+ people is almost an inevitability to us, it certainly isn't to secluded small towns. And isn't it Lopen that makes the "twice as manly" point, which means homophobia could still be part of Alethi culture, but not Herdazian culture?
Just finished reading Oathbringer yesterday and between the video and these comments I never quite realized just how many good bits there are in that book lmao
I liked when there were the POV chapters of Bridge Four, when they were trying to learn to use stormlight, and several of the guys went to Rock to ask for advice, feeling left out. Then everyone later talked together, and Rock asked "How many of you have come to me telling me you are feeling left out?". That was pretty funny.
When Pattern is watching over Adolin and Shallan and he cant seem to figure out what he needs to stop them from doing. Then blurting out in the middle of their conversation, figures it out and screams something along the lines of "NO MATING"

Wait...They are discussing renarin. Say no more, must be the iconic scene, “I am twice as manly,” scene
Every interaction with Sword Nimi has me chuckling…
I couldn't stop laughing at when Adolin and Shallan were talking about shitting in Shardplate.
Adolin bringing too many swords it's one of my favorites, because if I lived on a fantasy world i'd totally carry around a unecessary amount of swords
I laughed out loud and had to go tell my sister about it when I read this scene too.
I'm not even nearly finished with SA book one but THAT was funny!
God you are one good looking individual... oh and you have great content too, of course!
I really love the bromance between Dalinar and the StormFather in oathbringer
I don't remember the words exactly, but Lift calling Dalinar something liks TIGHTBUTTS cracked me up. Also, Kaladin imagining Syl giving him encouragements while having sex. But, the funniest part of the books for me is the conversation between Shallan and Adolin about shitting in shardplate on their first date.
Pattern and Design are hilarious, especially Pattern's "no mating!" Scenes. Kate Reading does an amazing job
I loved when pattern was chaperoning the two live birds and from sitting on the wall mutters “Noooo matingggggg”
Shalan:"make sure we don't do anything inappropriate"
Pattern:"like dividing by zero"
"he had a chin so straight it made other men wonder if they were"
Wit hitting himself with the rock to "dumb himself down to their level" was hilarious 🤣
When Shallan and Adolin are on a date and pattern is “chaperoning” 😂
some of my favorites
NO MATING!!
Syl asking about, yknow and kal getting that image in his head
wit
Help us we're making bad puns
I love how you read it without even a slight smile after having built up this scene as something you had to pause to get all the laughter out before continuing the book. Makes it feel like you were being completely sarcastic.
Almost any moment with the spren. I feel like spren are the Stormlight equivalent of droids from Star Wars. Awkward, funny and non-human in a charming way.
The Stand looms...
when I DO review the stand, I'm gonna have to dig up all these comments and do a slideshow at the start of the video
@@ManCarryingThing I've got a lot left in the chamber
As soon as I saw the title I knew what scene this would be about. Absolutely iconic scene.
Lopen is just an absolute Gem!
The scene where (the) Lopen swears the third ideal and is just like “Now!?” After the book’s final battle 😂😂😂
Easily the best from Lift and Wyndle. “I was a very regal fork, wouldn’t you say?”
I laughed while listening to the audiobook. Poor Wyndle.😂
I did like that scene but I feel like it's based on an assumed similarity to our world--that is, Kaladin's comment doesn't make sense unless being a gay man is unusual enough in that world to be relatable or feminized in a way that's comparable to learning how to read. So it works, but it kinda feels like more from our world
Well, there are a ton of similarities between our world and Roshar, so it doesn't surprise me at all that gave people are just as rare.
It's been a while since I read Oathbringer but I remember loving the seen where we find out Amaram had a thing for Jasnah and she just digs into him
I really lived that scene as well, and probably laughed out loud. And quoted it...
When Pattern is watching over Adolin and Shallan and he cant seem to figure out what he needs to stop them from doing. Then blurting out in the middle of their conversation, figures it out and screams something along the lines of "NO MATING"
The date of Adolin and Shallan when they talked about Adolin pooping in his armor
