The Death Rattle of the man watching his homeland crumbling to dust and crying is probably Szeth. He's the character who constantly hears weeping and whose features are described as childlike. We also know there's an Unmade in Shinovar and one of the unaccounted for ones is the Dustmother. Then there's the fact the Shin revere stone so watching their holy stones crumble to dust would be extra tragic.
@@Sheija yeah, I can easily see Szteh as well! But Taravangian also fits in my opinion with his child ruling Kharbranth and him doing whatever it took to save his land 🫠
@@cpaulwickBy any chance do you remember which episode of the podcast that theory was made/the evidence they had. I’m very curious about their reasoning.
Currently about 10% through Wind and Truth, and this has a very nice ring to it. Don't know how close it is or isn't, but you might be on to something.
I'm on my first reread of twok and I have noticed all the details and foreshadowing Sanderson put in the book. It actually blew my mind how many things are hidden in plain sight.
I'm blown away by 90% of the things in the video but the tiens lie is just heartbreaking. I never thought about the minute details surrounding tien. Great video.
I was counting how many I had missed... it's all of them ☠ The foreshadowing in the death rattles is blowing my mind! Can you imagine how many things he must have plotted to the most minuscule detail even before starting the series?
I am so scared haha! I feel like I know almost from memory the Death Rattles now, and it is so incredibly hard to not see things going down bad for us in book 5 :') ! Thank you for letting me know your thoughts!!
I love Kaladin so much. Fitz Chivalry Farseer from Realm of Elderlings and Kaladin are probably my two my favourite protagonists ever. They're both very tragic characters and I kind of love it. I don't know if it's been confirmed but I will be devasted if books 6 through 10 of Stormlight don't feature him at all. Although, given that Sanderson has confirmed who takes the main roles in all of the books, I'm assuming there won't be a significant time-jump. Therefore I'm hopeful that Kaladin will still play a major role in the second half of Stormlight. Edit: What if, given that death rattle, Kaladin's fifth ideal is something like "I will protect myself, even against the ones I love". Because I agree the "brother" is most likely Moash, and we know Kaladin is going to struggle fighting him. And I really believe that Kaladin still needs to learn to love and care for and forgive himself. Also, I think Syl would be so happy to hear him say that he'll protect himself that, that is a good way for her to grant him full Windrunner power. Edit Edit: Basically, I don't think Kaldin's fifth ideal will be about protecting others anymore. He's sworn to protect the weak and the ones he hates. He doesn't need to protect the strong, and he doesn't need to swear to protect the ones he loves since that's a given. The only target left in need of protection is "the self". Kaladin is dangerously selfless. I think the last Windrunner ideal will be about protecting oneself.
What's sure is that Kaladin will not have a main role in the second half. As Renarin, Lift, and probably Jasnah will have a more central role, Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar will take more of a backseat. Kaladin's story will end in book 5 whether he lives or dies and that is confirmed.
20:00 The Coppermind article for Kaladin also points out, with Kaladin's lineage, he's indirectly related to Aesudan, Elhokar's wife. With a WOB citation.
The death rattle about standing over the body of a brother, couldn't it be refering to Teft's death? And the "What have we done" part about the creation of the anti-stormlight weapons?? 🤔
Hi, can you tell me the source of the art you used in the video? That visual of kaladin facing the storm, the one of Hoid, and the one of Adonalsium are awesome.
@@FunFantasyBooks Yes, it is very well put together and informative. Normally I listen to your content at work, but I watched this one. All the research and effects you added in during the edit probably took a while. Nicely done.
Didn’t catch most of this on my first or second read. But being almost finished my fourth read (third for RoW) I’ve been looking for things like this. The epigraphs still have me lost most of the time, but story foreshadowing, for example, the nature of shardblades and shard plate are foreshadowed very early in book one. And he doesn’t explain them until the end of books two and 4 respectively.
The death rattle about standing on a cliffside with the land crumbling away is very similar to the one of Dalinar's visions which showed a possible future, In the Top Room.
"The burdens of nine become mine. Why must I carry the madness of them all?" I've also seen it theorized that this is referring to Ishar, who could have done Bondsmith things to absorb some of the "madness" from the other Heralds.
My idea is that kaladin dies in book five but he fully takes over as honor. But idk. It could explain why he's been so special but so depressed all his life cuz he was stuck in a human vessel. Thats just my guess.
I have read all 4 books very recently and currently re-reading the 4th...and most of what is talked about here is like listening to stuff I have never read. Pretty amazing the depth of the story when I fully enjoyed it and apparently missed all of what's in this video. 😂

The death rattle you mentioned for kaladin and shallan is for kaladin and adolin. It refers to the fight which kaladin saves adolin 2v4. "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do."
I think it would be very cool if Lirin, kaladins father, had turned out to be a herald, as it could've fit much about him, like his distrust towards light eyes because they bring back memories of the radiants and the desolations, or his hate and reluctance of going to war. It also would fit well with how he was reluctant to go to urithiru because he didn't want to be recognized. Now I'm not saying this what happened. In fact, I'm like 90% sure this isn't the case, but I just think it would've been very cool and would've fit well with kaladins persona.
In the released chapters, Kaladin seems to be in a pretty stable state of mind even with respect to Moash, so I think maybe that death rattle about the blood of brother could be for Szeth ?
Okay this is post sent with all respect and admiration. Please forgive its directness. Listening to you talk about the stormlight archives in this much specificness.
