    Folks, if you are in this situation there is a greater than 90% chance you'll have to take it to a sunroof specialist. The headliner must be removed in order to replace the sunroof frame and rail system. When the sunroof fails it fouls up the cables, motor and frame. Our sunroof guy tried using these guides demonstrated in this video but it did not work and therefore had to go a step further. You have to remove and replace the entire assembly from within the car for $1,500. The parts are reasonable in price it's the labor that gets you. STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI AFTER 100,000 MILES!

      You're 100% right about that I did everything that this guy said to do in the video I will be 100% honest with you all I just about broke the plastic.
      There was no way to wedge that track in between that little black bumper that's in front without cutting it off and ruining everything I had to take down my headliner after I made sure all the power was out of the car so the airbags wouldn't go off that took me forever. If you have that kind of time on your hands to do what I had to do breaking a bunch of clips trying to get everything off safely it's better to take it to a professional who knows what he's doing also in this video he doesn't show you how to get the guide pins back in the track nor the guide pins for the rear bar that is inside the rear of the headliner to get those back in place. Again I'm working on mine now and I have been for quite a few months driving this car whenever I can.
      So respectfully I will say this video is okay other than the fact that it didn't work taking the headliner down was probably about the easiest thing to do without trying to break anything but in all honesty I would have a professional do it again this is not knocking the guy that made the video but the details could have been a lot better especially when getting the pins back in order for the sunroof to tilt up till back and slide back into place that would have been a great video if he would have shown those again Definitely not knocking this guy that showed us what he did It didn't work for me is all I'm saying.
      It may work for some others because his track was aluminum mines aluminum painted black.
      So good video just next time have a GoPro or show the details of actually how you're doing it in full video without breaking anything and how you're getting the tilt arms and all that however you call them back in place.

    The information that's missing in this video is how to remove sunroof without removing everything inside.
    There is a rubber extendible cover on both sides of the sunroof if you look from inside.
    Remove the cover and use a long torx. There are 2 screws on each side. Easy to see once the cover is off.

    • @johndyson4577
      @johndyson4577 ปีที่แล้ว

      there were 3 screws per side on my 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan.

    • @nunofthehour
      @nunofthehour ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johndyson4577 I got my screws out but I was not able to "jiggle" the guides into place. Ended up removing interior, head liner, air bags and other trim to then eventually drop the sunroof. What a complete pain in the ass that was.

      How did you take off air bags I got the same problem end it up buying whole new sunroof and I wanna remove the whole sunroof and put the new one on it

    • @nunofthehour
      @nunofthehour ปีที่แล้ว

      @@babychoppa762 the first thing that comes out are the roof lights, then the sun visors, then the black sensors under the rear view mirror, the. Take out the pillar covers where the seat belts are, then the pillar covers in the back, then all 4 grab handles. Once you have all this out then the roof liner can come down. It won't come out of the car until you take out all the head rests and one of the seats to make space. Once that is out taking the air bags and sunroof is just a few 10mm bolts. I still don't understand how this guy just jiggles the guides in. There is no way to do that without breaking the guides. They are plastic.

    Dude thank you! My sunroof was slightly propped open and wouldn’t close and couldn’t figure out for the life of me.
    I’m gonna order the piece and not open the roof until then 😂

    • @1jjwilliams
      @1jjwilliams ปีที่แล้ว

      My question also!
      If you remove the one screw on the left side and you remove the 1 screw on the right side what then there's some tacky stuff underneath the track how do you get the 2 tracks to lift up without damaging anything or having to reseal anything???

  • @videoman191
    @videoman191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    can you see if this is damaged without taking anything off ? or what do you have to take off to see?

  • @GigGrinderMike
    @GigGrinderMike 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am doing this on my 2012. How did you get to the second screw that holds the motor in to loosen it? The one that is to the left and kind of behind the black plastic trim piece that the overhead console goes into.

      OK, so did it work for you
      Because he almost saved me from breaking something, I haven't broken it yet, but it's so frustrating because I'm trying to get this on here without breaking it cost me another $399 for each one with the springs.
