years ago, when I owned my house, my neighbour next door had a tree in his backyard cut down. It was feet from my garage. The company DROVE their truck up my drive, HIT my garage, were climbing on top of my garage, dropped branches on it, all before I found out. They offered me $100 for my damages. The police were called, charges included tresspassing, and damaging private property. I have told companies like that to move.
I pulled up my driveway, went in the house and when I came back out there was a company vehicle for a gas line parked in my driveway. He wasn't in his vehicle and way off down the road. I told him to move because he was blocking other vehicles from pulling up as we're a house full of people.
It was perfect timing too, cause not even 5 minutes after I told him to move a family member was pulling up the driveway.

And, then they promised to replace the tree. Three months later, no tree and the company took my money and told me to have a nice day instead. Yeah! I had a nice day alright! I am an amateur logger, but even I know that anytime a tree is in a confined area, you must first lop off the top side branches. I could not do that because a "cherry picker" is needed. Then the main trunk must be notched on the side of the tree where you want it to fall. Make the felling cut on the opposite side and follow behind the chain blade with a steel wedge as the cut deepens, and have someone keep tapping the wedge carefully as the saw cuts into the wood so that there are no mistakes. If there is any error developing, add a second wedge to redirect the fall slightly. I absolutely would never attempt this cut though because, without professional equipment, you can never be 100% correct. I have not missed yet, but my confined tree-cutting days are over.

The tree can block the street which is unlawful in most localities unless they have prior permission to do so. The tree can rip out power lines, taking out electricity for a large amount of the neighborhood. The worst that can happen is a pedestrian loses their life if the crash landing area isn't sufficiently coned off.

My question is , obviously they went to size up the job and give a price for dropping the tree, didn,t they think it was kind of odd the guy they were dealing with lived in a different property. alarm bells would have had me asking neighbours if it was his tree he wanted us cutting down. OAK TREES are valuable loss of tree, damage , illegal trespass, claim $100,000.

Gorgeous healthy looking tree Why take it down? And who fells a large tree like that in a residential area. That's why you have climbers and ropes.

Why would they even cut that tree down anyway? It looked healthy.

You'd have to ask the neighbor who owned the tree. He's the one who hired the company to cut it down.

Roots can screw up the driveway or foundation of the house.

Father had been a logger/tree trimmer and landscaper his entire life, definitely wouldn't have tried to bring that down in one piece, he would've climbed it like a real tree trimmer and topped it then brought it down piece by piece in 4-10ft increments. He had been working on 100-200ft trees his entire life, was on a job with him the last time where it would literally take 10 people with their arms outstretched to get around the trunk it made the rest of the trees around it look dwarfed for miles, was literally 15 ft from the front step of this guys house and probably would've pancaked it with ease not to mention how much damage roots can do to the foundation of a home.

our apartments just cut a huge tree down behind my apartment and they cut bigger limbs off first and then larger limbs with guide lines off then cut the tree top to bottom chunks at a time. none of the 3 buildings surrounding the tree was damaged.

My brother is a welder that has done tree work on the side for years, he can get a tree to fall wherever he wants it to, and he would never have done a tree that size in one piece, probably 2, or 3 pieces.

If this took place within the universe of the Bethesda franchise, Fallout (Decades before the great war.) This tree removal company would have been considered the best of the best. Because they always get the job done. Despite how much private property they damage in the process.

In 2005, I came home to find a tree removal company had cut down a huge pine tree near my property line, which took out my front steps...and they just left it like that...not a note, a phone number, nothing.

It could be WORSE - While helping my Sister's neighbor with a move, I watched my Sister's neighbor try to successfully pull down a similar height tree, using a single rope tied that was barely longer than the height of the tree, and tied to a jeep. The tree fell down OK, right on their other neighbor's main POWER Connection. I watched as the tree fell and proceeded to cause huge sparks. Fortunately for everyone, the house did NOT catch FIRE!
Also - when you use a guide rope attached to the tree, you definitely should NOT hold the rope standing next to a truck that should have been moved in the first place!

Hurrcaine Irma cracked our 80 foot live oak down the middle ( didn't fall but it had to go) and it took them a week to take it down, considering how a good chunk was over my house and the other side was tangled in the neighbors live oak. Only damage done was potholes in the yard and a bush/tree thing that got mildly flattened (it's still alive just weird looking)

A few months ago, we had to cut down a big guanacaste tree (hardwood, excellent slabs for tables and the like, also called elephant's ear tree) because the roots could no longer support it and the houses and people nearby were at risk. Guy we hired tied limbs before cutting them and then lowered them, it was very cool to watch him work.

When I had an ash cut down in my back yard they secured it with ropes and bucket trucks and cut off most of the limbs before carefully lowering it to the ground to be cut up piece by piece. Why would they fell a tree of that size in a residential area?

We had a guy drop a tree on a fence, which I figured was a fluke event. He said he would do more tree work to make up for it. So he dropped a tree on top of a 71 Mustang, and left without saying anything. Didn't cut it up, or anything.
