One of Florida’s first “attractions,” the Citrus Tower was built in 1956 on one of the highest hills in Florida’s ridge section. The original plans specified a tower 75 feet high, but when completed, the Citrus Tower rose to a lofty height of 226 feet (equivalent to 22 stories). The tip of the highest antenna pierces the sky at 500 feet above sea level.

I visited this tower when I was in sixth grade! Can't wait to visit again!

I grew up in Montverde after leaving Illinois very small. My childhood was 90s and 2000s. I went to school in Minneola, Clermont, and Groveland, so I saw the Citrus Tower a lot. I moved back to Clermont in July, so I see it a lot again.
Great tour! I have lived in Clermont 21 years and finally visited the Citrus Tower last year. Mostly because of you and Adam's videos. One year my classroom looked out at the Citrus Tower, but I'm usually facing the other direction. They changed our water tower to "The Choice of Champions" because of our National Training Center which produces many olympic medalists, but I still like "Gem of the Hills" better.
I miss that gym and clermont for some reason. I’m in Sacramento now.
I watched both yours and the Carpet Bager's visit here. I enjoyed yours more, by far.

Where I grew up, Lake County, Florida! All the groves have turned into houses and development properties! I hate that all the groves are gone! Screw developers and transplants! Great video though! Brings back memories!

Now about that time travel. A few days after you posted this video, i watch another video on the Citrus tower. Made by a guy just like you, sideburns, friendly. Except he had a hat with pins instead of a cap. He went in, talked to the lady at the counter, and she said hey, i know you! You were making a youtube video here just a few days ago.

This tower looks amazing! since Florida is mostly flat, you can really see a long way from up there! That was some real social distancing up there, you were at least 226 feet from the nearest person, LOL. Nothing better than having your own private tower to vlog in!

My family and I went up there when there was still citrus around. Last time we were there all trees were gone and housing projects were visible. The groves were killed in a bad frost.
That’s one historical place I’ve been to lol rows and rows of orange 🍊 trees back on the 60’s when I was a kid it was beautiful but the view is very different now what it shame yup all you could see was orange trees 🌳 thank you for the memories keep them coming there used to be a park called six gun territory you would board a train and it would take you back in time to the western times they would put on shows like fights in the saloon and gun fights Indians it was great like you were in a movie back in the 60’s as well maybe you can do some research on that oh yea meet up that sounds great 👍🏽 take care God bless 🙏🏻❤️😊

We love the Citrus Tower, our first trip to the Tower was in 1986 when nothing but orange groves could be seen from the top.

When I was a kid in the late 60's and early 70's my parents took us to Jensen Beach every year at Christmas time to get away from the cold in Ohio , we visited the Tower a couple of times . Now im retired and live in Sebring about 80 miles south of the tower .

I remember when the citrus groves were seen for miles around the citrus tower. The citrus owners got tired of losing their Oranges to frost and moved south of Frost proof . Then developers bought the property up for housing and commercial development.

We visited the Citrus Tower back in 2006 and it did not have music or wifi. It also did not have air conditioning (or it was not on)- it was very hot and stuffy inside the tower for a Spring day. We gave it the nickname of the Suburban Homes Tower. I have seen pictures were the tower has lights for Christmas. It would be a nice place to watch fireworks on July 4th with the 360 degree view.
Yeah they put on a neat light show during Christmas time all the way up until New Years Eve I believe. And that's a good idea to go up there on 4th of July but it looks like they close at 7pm when the sun is still out during that time of the year. Bummer.
A meet up would be great

I remember we drove to Florida in 1968 from NJ and it felt like we drove for days thru the orange groves in Florida.

I have been there many times. The orange juice there (when it’s available) is fresh. It is fantastic. I bring cheap binoculars and you can see everything. From there we visit the presidents museum just a few feet away. On the way back to 192 we stop at showcase of citrus. Your channel is great my friend!

The Citrus Tower is a fun place to visit. There are several older Florida attractions not too far from there, I believe. I’ve been there twice and never was there music before

Micha, I hope all is well. I wanted to let you know about a little movie history. The ERNEST SAVES CHRISTMAS home that you and ADAM have both been to is scheduled for demolition in the few coming weeks. The neighbors have tried to save it,but with the amount of termites,the city has deemed it to be destroyed. Sorry to bring this news to you but I just found this out when I took the kids to see it. I got some good pics and some of the filming locations are still in place for now. Sorry for the bad news. Stay safe and thanks for what you put in your vlogs. Robert

I can’t believe how this place has stood the test of time, it looks so modern and clean - not pushing 70 years old! If you’d have told me it was built in 2020 I wouldn’t have had reason to question it. Also, a meet up would be great but I’m in the UK so probably not able to make it.
Wish you could make it and yes I totally agree the building looks so wonderful they definitely maintain it
30 years ago my wife and I stopped there on our honey on the way to Disney. Back then you could go on the roof it had a fence around of course with the pay view finders. We visited about 20 years ago and was told you could no longer go to the roof due to people throwing things from the roof. You should go a couple miles down Hwy 27 to the Citrus showcase road side attraction.
We were actually at that very spot a little over a week ago! It looked like it was closed on the cold/rainy day we were there. Ended up going over to Winter Garden that day. Wish we saw your video before we went.
Winter garden is another great place to visit though expect a video from there very soon

My mother in law lived in Leesburg which is Clermont county. I remember this tower. I thought it was so cool. Moved to Florida in 1994 from Ohio. It sure has grown since 1994. I moved back to Ohio end of 2000. I would love to move back to Florida when I retire.🍊🍊🏝

When we traveled from Orlando to points north on the Florida Turnpike my family made a game of who could see the Citrus Tower first.
crazy you get a better view of downtown driving east on 50…been un clermont years, never been up there tho lol was a good Pokemon Go spot for a the 1 month i played it tho 😂😂
On clearer days you can see the skyline better.

So sad so many orange groves are gone.😟 Plagues are a big problem unfortunately.
I'm sad that the stitches Tower broke down and in 2020 by a thunderstorm lightning and I really don't like that because I every time when I was in pre-k I used to go to that clock and hear it ring it was how beautiful sound and I am so so so sad that it is broken
