- Welcome to episode 4 of THE HUNT FOR BIG RED! In this episode I continue my campaign on Willow Bank at Todber Manor for this beautiful creature.
This session turned out to be one of my most frustrating sessions I think I've ever had whilst carp fishing! The fish were all in front of me but for some reason I just could not catch them and this was infuriating to say the least!

Fishing is about enjoying nature. With moments of delight when you catch. Blanks are a good thing. ❤
You’re not wrong mate! Love this comment!
Biggest issue you had is the Parker baits I had a simular session there for 48 hours dead as a dodo on Parker baits for 24 hours then as soon as I switched to cc Moore tuna I had 4 out. Asked in the shop even though they stock Parker baits they said lots of people have had same problem.. Parker baits good baits but don't be over reliant on it as it doesn't work on every venue.
🤣🤣 They told you that in the shop did they...🤔
on that lake you need to be no further than a foot of the far bank. i fished with Ian Russell last year and his accuracy was unbelievably successful . They also seem to like sweet baits
I’ll continue to keep trying 👊🏼
living the bream 🎉
🙈😅
Unlucky Aaron. Me and a mate had the same this weekend. Carp boshing for a few hrs over our spots and nothing.. so fustrating. Keep it real 👌
Yeah mate it was tough going but I’ll be back stronger next time! Tight lines as always mate!
Great video
Thank you!
I had a 16 fish hit on there. Using just solid bags. No free offerings.
I used solid bags there before and started to get results! I think I’m going to go back onto the solid bags for next time! Thanks!
mate..just a few coming out, it happens they just weren't on the feed
Aaron, I was always told on that lake to get as close to the opposite margin as possible, as there are some undercuts they love to sit under.
I’ve heard something similar.. then again the guy to my right caught mid water and I’ve heard big red has come out mid water also 🤷🏼♂️🙈 I keep trying different things until I get it right 👍🏼
Why not try a different bait? Say a sticky manilla or krill? Or do you have to use Parker baits always?
I reckon them fish been gorging on this yrs fry, seen it a lot at this time of year, lots of activity but no bites
I’ve heard people saying similar things!
I had the big red using xxx in the pellet feeder swim half way out 😊,I've seen it hanging about alot there, second tree up from the swim lot pellet and 50 Bollies 😊
It can’t be 49 bollies then?
That’s awesome well done! It’s always hard to get in that swim! I’ve had my best results in that swim too! I’ll keep trying! Thanks mate!

I found heavily baiting works on willowbank and iv noticed a lot of people drive bait boats right into the reeds o the far bank
I personally don’t like bait boats especially on a lake like that! But hey, each to their own! Thanks mate!
I’m currently in that exact swim, it’s now night and I did manage to get a nice 20lb on the nose mirror but that’s been it so far
Well done maybe better than I could do! I cleared a couple of bream out for ya haha!
Com mon Aaron. Com mon pb and big Red.
It’ll come mate I’m sure! Just a waiting game!
nice video, can I ask what kettle you where using
It’s just a silicone one I got from eBay! Very cheap and folds away very compact! I’d highly recommend!
Bit of advice if u see them jumping all over ur spot but not getting their heads down, get zigs out there at different depths
I had a zig out just under the surface! Maybe I should’ve put all 3 on zigs at different depths.. 🤔 maybe next time
@@southcoastangler Yh I just wanna say I’m a huge fan I have been watching u since pretty much day one and u have help me progress so much in my carp fishing and I love ur videos I look forward to them every Saturday so keep up the gd work🎣🎣
Ask the bloke 2 swims down what bait he’s useing
Also a bit of advice is if you see fish showing on your spot just catapult or use a boilie throwing stick to put boiles over your spot to try and get them down on your bait . Tight lines
Yeah mate I had my throwing stick out! Cheers! I’ll keep trying 👌🏼
Dont bother with pellet, your only feeding the small stuff. I fish boilie only and smash it in
Yeah I think I meant my lesson on that one 😅 cheers mate
Aaron that’s fishing you can’t catch them all the time
You’re right Sarah! Just hurts more when I know people are watching the videos! 👊🏼
If you can see fish on the surface, why not discard the Parker baits and fish with a lump of floating bread on the surface? If the fish are on the surface, fish on the surface if its allowed.
I often fish where I can with bread! The only thing is I didn’t have the equipment with me to cast the bread out at 10 wraps! No controller float, I didn’t even have any bread with me! This is why I fished a zig just under the surface!
First
Perhaps a decent bait might help 🤷♂️
He does use decent bait.
